Picard was at his best in this episode. He was never rattled or frustrated, even when his ship was getting pummeled by the enemy. While everyone else is baited and confused, He has a firm grasp of the situation. He calmly and methodically unravels the mystery, and even amuses himself with a little dig at Worf. He conducts himself in a manner of superiority, even when addressing a godlike entity.

@@DavidKnowles0 i don't think that the federations future is of any relevance for the question if Kevin is like hitler or not. But what i do think is a relevant argument is, that he killed the Husnok in an instant, where he lost controll out of grief. He also knew what he did was wrong. Hitler on the other hand really wanted to eradicate the jews and didnt feel bad about it, he took also way to long to kill them, for someone to say it was accidentaly in a state of emotional stress. So i would say hitler was far far worse since he actually intended the murder. Kevin on the other side was in severe emotional pain through the loss of his wife, wich resulted in him losing controll ofer himself for just a moment, wich was enough to eradicate the whole species.

The silly part of this whole episode is if the super alien had a bit more chill, the Enterprise would have conducted a cursory investigation, Starfleet would have sent occasional patrols afterward looking for an enemy that no longer existed, and after a period of a few years, the patrols would have stopped and he would have been able to continue his life with his "wife" without issue.

Good point. But Kevin was really impatient. He didn't have the patience to play the long game with the Enterprise. He wanted them gone Now. ASAP. It's like going home after work to see the police sitting in a car outside your house. Just sitting there and watching your home. Its unsettling, and you would want them gone as soon as possible so can you get back to your normal daily life. Same deal here with Kevin. He wasn't willing to wait years for them to go away.

"Silly" Part? IDK about "silly". And, I think not. I think the Federation would have sent more colonist out there to repopulate the planet. "Kevin's" Foley is that she would have eventually died of natural causes, anyway. Part of living as a human is getting on with your life after someone has gone. In fact, I am disappointed that Picard didn't point out that _the difference_ between her dying just from the passage of time and her dying from being killed is just an illusion, or arbitrary at best, and then encouraging him to return with them, or to accept new colonists. He would have told Kevin all this, and that it was pathological behavior to just stay there, literally in a world of his own grief. He _should have_ remembered her by taking to heart the things he had learned from her, and living out her values and goals for the future. So, I think the writers dropped the ball in the end. ☹️

I was expecting a comment section filled with "That's what she said" references. I was pleasantly surprised to find almost none!! Well done kids!!

Thank you Father, I am glad your expectations were not met. Can I shine your shoes and get you some tea?

@@simplesimp7103 Well, that depends. You do realize it would entail complicated actions, like boiling water, etc?!? In my experience, the only thing snowflakes can contribute to society, is spewing forth limitless amounts of verbal diarrhea. Actually doing something useful, like shining shoes, without causing themselves serious bodily harm, just seems like an impossible task to expect!! Have you ever managed to fulfill one of these tasks, or something similarly complex in your eyes, without any adult help?!?
Damn. When Picard gave Worf that quick "Lieutenant?" Worf acted like he was verbally circumcised.
That is John Anderson. He is most remembered for playing the used car salesman in Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho".
Wesly "look at the size of that thing!" Riker" that's what Diana said."
"Look at the size of that!" Picard: "Now where did that come from?" Riker: "Sorry captain but I ate lots of taco's last night and when you gotta go, you gotta go."
"Cut the chatter Mr. Crusher! Accelerate to attack speed!"
Was a great episode!
Bridge crewman: "Look at the size of that!" Riker: "Yeah, I hear that a lot with the ladies. Anyway, red alert."
I love science fiction and I have loved a different Star treks especially the first Star treks.
This girl at the club said that to me 😂
The infamous Star Wars - Star Trek Crossover used this scene a lot, or at least the audio from it.
Classic 1987!
Such a cool ship to use only once.
I'd like to see Q and Kevin battle.

You remember the Voyager episode where the Q had a civil war? There were novae happening everywhere. I suspect it would be something like that if not worse.
Warf: "Nice house. Good tea."
