There is a huge group of old, rich white guys who are living in the past, especially in the South. Harpootlian is a good example of an old man who thinks he’s hot shit. Loves to hear his own voice. Several times during this trial he has said something that he thinks is so clever but it falls flat as a stone.

Alex was proud to be able to afford to keep his wife as a queen or princess so she did not have to work. It was a point of honor, rather, status, for him. I love not working in an office which I did for 30 years before marriage! The women's movements were orchestrated to break up the family, give her power to the state. I have worked in government and I have cleaned toilets and waited tables. I got a job in construction once and sang and danced on stage in theaters, I have worked at major news magazines, and I have never been discriminated against for being a woman, ever, anywhere. Besides, Maggie and Libby planned to open up a dress shop together in town before Libby started to lose her mental facilities. Maggie could do as she pleased. The drugs made him oblivious to taking their lives maybe. The motive is bewildering. It's too tragic.

Yeah, ridiculous. Of course women may sympathize with the wife, but if there is no evidence to convict, no one wants to be responsible for sending a man to jail eiher. I'm sure I wouldn't have unless the evidence was compelling. As IF a woman couldn't understand the level of detail that was shown in the case. What I certainly saw were Dick's poor attempts to obfuscate, interrupt and lead the witnesses including talking down to the experienced female pathologist and the nurse that looked after Alex's mother.

Another reason, the main one I think, is Alex knows how to "work a room" of men socially. He has all the moves, language and cultural "good ol' boy" mannerisms that endear other guys to him. A beefy, sloppy masculinity that hides a natural human vulnerability can be a strong glue to male bonding and Alex seems adept at those mannerisms. It's just that shallow pretense will not work for him in his predicament now. He has two choices, and I am not optimistic he will take the high road, ever.

Motive is bewildering. "A wise woman builds her house. "A foolish one tears it down with her own hands" Proverbs A mother and wife is the stronghold of the family and ultimately of society. Worship of money and status brought down many powerful people in the past. The tragedy is terrible but a cautionary tale too. Alex and Maggie's relationship was shallow, by necessity. Alex's mind was so twisted away from reality, when he saw he couldn't control events to save Paul from the Malory Beach trial, and that released the chain reaction leading to Maggie leaving him, the fuses blew in his brain and he conspired to "fix" things, like he always did.

He doesn't think a Dad would want to kill his son? My ex took my son in the woods when he was just a child with a loaded gun to his head to shoot him; however, my ex heard someone in the woods and put the gun down. My ex tried multiple times to get rid of my son, and in 2015 he was successful with the help of those that are suspose to give care to their patients not kill them - my 31 year young son was overdosed and not RESUSCITATED... THEN a fraudulent death certificate was done in an attempt to hide the MURDER. I still don't have a death certificate in my son's name at time of death - with very little true on the death certificate...not just my son's legal name not on it...! Seeking an attorney to get a correct death certificate; since the fraudulent one was made my son's identity was ALSO stolen and malpractice lawsuits closed without a death certificate showing it was my son that died. Don't tell me a Dad would not kill their own child. Most would not; however, there are some EVIL dads out there. I also think Alex Murdaugh killed his son AND wife...and that man reminds me too much of my ex that I don't know if I even want to watch anymore of this trial.
