Hey Jason - you likely don't remember me, but we met once at the skatepark near Lake Elizabeth in Fremont (I didn't know you at the time). This would have been more than a year ago, maybe two. I was just there on a whim, and you saw me standing around and asked me if I skateboarded. I've always been interested in learning, but had never really tried. You let me use your board and taught me how to push around, then guided me down some slopes, all for at least an hour. We then tried my first drop-in together, and I landed hard on my back and got the wind knocked out of me. You were extremely patient with me, and really helped me have such a good time even though I failed pretty badly. I'm picking up an interest in skating again, and thinking about it, the experience I had meeting you was really essential in that. I'll be getting a board sometime in the coming weeks, along with some of my friends, and we'll all be working on it together. I wanted to thank you for seriously being so true to the mentality in your channel description - I am proof that your dedication and philosophy on this channel works. I can't wait to get started, and my friends and I will be using your videos all along the way! Thanks Jason, you're real asf. And hope your ankle recovers well!

Hey Ishaan, I do remember that day at Fremont!! If you ever get around to trying that drop in again, just be sure to lean really far forwards (this tutorial might be useful: kzread.infogKPU3GMtImg ). I'm glad I could help, and I'm stoked to hear that you and your friends are getting into skating. Have fun with it - those first few months of learning to skateboard are some of the best memories ever.

What is the best skate shoe for beginners?

I'd recommend a shoe with a flat sole, with an upper part made out of suede (which is more durable than canvas for example) I started out with an old pair of Vans I had lying around, then bought Etnies Maranas later on

Keep going. Wear a helmet.
