Couch captains giving advise...Ignore 'em. Heck, I just love watching a confident capable person work each new and somewhat different situation. All involving moving things near each other while floating or trying to float. Love to watch but not really interested in personally experiencing deep water. So here we are watching you. Thanks for videos kids can watch. Funny, take on the mission of teaching boaters and anybody really, how to tie a bowline knot! It's a fun knot. I use it all the time to tie a load on my truck or lines in my green house. Like you said it can be untied.

Thanks Lynn! A bowline really is an extremely useful and versatile knot. I've said it before that if you can tie that and a cleat hitch, you'll be covered for 99% of the knots you need in boating. Yes there may be better knots for certain situations, but with those two, you'll be fine!

Are you using the ezcaptainhooks there? I hate to even remember a time before we started using those.. A little expensive, but they last forever, as long as you don't twist them in the plate cut eyes, old whaler eyes, or allow them to bind; They also don't straighten unless you double up boats or shock load..

I might be able to do that sometime. For now though, all you need a USCG OUPV (6-pack) license with a towing endorsement

Was your boat a purpose built tow boat? Or was it modified to be a tow boat?

@sirdirtydog705 modified. Very few if any boats are designed for this type of towing. Some you can buy from the manufacturer with a towing configuration (safeboats for example), but most of what you see in operation are modified after the fact

What is the construction of your towing line ? Dyneema or similar, it seem small but mighty :)

This blue stuff is polypropylene. You'll see in some of my newer videos that I'm using a green line. I believe that is dyneema

Oh the things u could say!!!! Love ur work ken. Why he couldnt get a few muscley mates to push, while a boat pulled, it would have come off without an insurance claim. Ken don't worry about what some people say, most of us just worry about ur Safety, but it's ur call u know what ur doing 😲 their all just jealous u got the best job. 🍺

Not sure I’d trust anyone to be able to tie a good knot themselves. I don’t blame you for doing it yourself if you can walk to it.

Nope. Which is why I tie it 99% of the time! I'm afraid it's either not going to hold or it's not going to come undone

I really don’t understand why it would upset people that you get off of your boat. You to do what you feel is best, every situation is different.

Because it's the internet and no matter what I do people will have issues with it. In one of my most recent videos, I didn't get off my boat, and people were absolutely destroying me because of it 🤷

Insurance claim for a tow? Wouldn’t that jack your rate up and cost more long term? A gold towing package is like $200 idk why people don’t factor it in like a consumable

I don't know how it affects rates...but this wasn't covered by their towing policy for whatever reason

Nothing on you,but insurance shouldn’t cover these circumstances..it’s operator error in judgment..

I disagree 100% That would be like your vehicle insurance saying they're not covering you because you got in an accident... Kinda defeats the purpose of having insurance
