Long Range Varminting - Sightron SIII 6-24x50 FFP Field Testing

Don't forget to subscribe and hit that like button. Please check the description for all the load out information. Don't hesitate to ask questions either.
This is the hunting footage I gathered while testing the Sightron SIII rifle scope. I will be doing a full review of this scope so look for that. Doug's Optics and Outdoors sent me the Sightron to do what we do best...hit groundhogs that are really far away. The scope seems to track reliably and the first focal plane feature is a plus. Thank you for watching!
Please check out www.opticsandoutdoors.com - If it wasn't for them, I'd never get the chance to try out such an awesome scope.

    Velocity4000fps I didn't see this comment until now. I'm pretty impressed with this scope overall. I especially like the MOA 2 dot reticle as well. This is my first hands on experience with a upper end scope. How would you say the S3 stacks up against say a Nightforce or Leupold in the same price range?

    For the money you cant beat the S3 glass is very good, and on par with anything from Nightforce, SHV, Vortex, PST, Leupold VX3 LRP, which are all great scopes. Sightron has the new SV 10-50-60 for those extreme long range shots beyond a mile, but has the nightforce ATACR price tag! over $2.000

    Awesome video's & some great shooting. I'm a huge 7mm Rem mag fan. I had a Browning A bolt II with the ( BOSS SYSTEM ) on it. I used Nosler 140 gr ballistic tips. I Loved that gun. I had a Shepherd BRS 4-16X44 1A FFP IR. I drove roofing nails in @100 yards & headshot a deer @ over 300yards. I just bought a CVA Paramount .45 muzzleloader & I was planning on another Shepherd scope being on it. I ordered a BRS 5-25x56 34mm IRMOA - a 750.00 scope. An awesome 750.00 scope. It was on backorder until around Mar. 2020. I was offered a replacement for it - Vortex Viper PST 5-25x50 30mmIRMOA 7C for 700.00 to my door. I took it. I have it mounted & will be bore sighting then shooting tomorrow hopefully. I'll have a 200yard zero. I heard today that some guys have had some of the super mag ML's & smokeless ML's that have some pretty serious recoils & they have " Wrecked " was the term used more than once for what they did to this exact same model scope. I'm abit unnerved now to say the least. I was just turned on to the Sightron SIII 4-24x50 FFP IRMOA which I'm learning about. Which brought me to your /this video. Its abit too late now & abit out of my financial capabilities. I'm definitely liking what I'm learning about this scope. It will stay on my WISH LIST for sure. I'm from Md. orig 7 I grew up hunting all over Md. Pa. & WVa. I'm in north central Fl. now with plenty of totally flat 360* long range shooting. I cant wait to stretch this new ML out to 600 yards +. Kind regards

    Killing woodchucks just for sighting in just goes to show what a poor choice and deficient mentality you have. A paper target would have given you the info you needed. I have a 26" Barreled 6.5 Creedmore on a GRS stock w/a Sightron S111 10x50x60 scope and I don't need to kill an animal that I do not need for survival. A paper target at 100 /1400 meters was all I needed.

  • @ChuckinTV

    @ChuckinTV

    6 жыл бұрын

    There is a bit more to it than that sir. Woodchucks are actually a problem species in this area, hence the title "varminting." They are heavily populated and cause damage to farm equipment, in some cases dig out foundations. I don't just shoot them for the sole purpose of going out and killing something. However, I still consider it better practice for "real world" shooting than target shooting. When I woodchuck hunt, I don't always have a set range that I'm going to shoot or a rest readily available. This practice I feel makes me confident with my equipment to be able to make ethical shots on larger game, such as deer, in field shooting situations. Sorry this sort of thing bothers you. I do also enjoy target shooting.
