The 28 Nosler is the 7MM REMINGTON ULTRA MAGNUM , you said it was a 284 on a 300 ULTRA case which is what the 7RUM is , the 7RUM is a Great Rifle . The ULTRA MAGNUMS ARE EXCELLENT CALIBERS !!!!!

.300 WSM, does it all for me. Sub MOA with hand loads. 125gr @ 3600fps for vermin and prairie dogs. 135gr for longer range and better wind deflection. 150gr for deer and antelope coyotes and wolves. 165-168gr for big mule deer and long range antelope. 180gr for elk, black bear, 200gr for moose and grizzley bears. moderate recoil and light rifles. favorite caliber to hunt with.

The 30-06 was designed by the military for long range engagements with the enemy and it has transitioned to the hunting world now I do watch mark and sam after work and they stretched the 30-06s legs quite a bit and I find it amazing how modern powders and projectiles have made it still one of the best rounds you can have

You can NOT use military calibers in some European countries , totally agree.

I like my 270 Winchester.

Love my 300 Weatherby Mag, definitely in the top 3 for best 30 cal cartridges ever created.

The best caliber is the one that you can consistently hit the target with. Whether that is a .22 or a .338 lapua, your skill is most important. Also, it depends on what species you are hunting. A skilled person will bring any animal down quickly and humanely with a .308 in North America.

7mm is 284, so it can shoot the same bullets as the 28 nosler, albeit with a little less velocity. Nosler is like creedmoor in this regard - they are just reinventing the wheel. There is also 280 remington which is right in there too, although milder than 7 rem. All shoot same bullets

@@A1soldiersaint Most US calibres are just copies of European calibres. 6.5X55 and 7X64 are all you really need. Shooting animals at 2km is not needed, you still have to go retrieve it, why not just walk closer in the first place. The US are about 50-130 years behind Europe in cartridge and ammunition design, it's a joke. I find it bizarre at how yanks think 6.5 and 7mm are some new invention.

I wish I had a 7x64 in my safe, but I prefer 7mm rem mag for a number of reasons (i.e. I am American and I enjoy its balance of recoil vs performance) and the same could be said for 300 win mag as far as my preference. As far as hunting, I cannot communicate with you as an equal, as you are a sideline nay sayer.

@@chippyjohn1 look we started with Big lead because we have big shit that wants to eat us, the European settlers wanted big lead to kill the natives, we needed repeaters, the lever gun was invited, the first war started and then the American boys started to see the performance of the German 7mm rifles, and just because the Nazis had it, alot of guys just wanted the 30cal. government. It's kinda like the 6.5 Creed. It's a basic performance twin of the Great and Wonderful 6.5x55 (my first and Favorite 6.5) Or the American 7mm08 (my favorite caliber, I own 2 myself) Is basically a 7x55. But I prefer the 708 for reloading because I have access to plenty of brass and bullets in it's weight range. We can say European countries are about 150 years ahead of us in Overreacting government and gun laws also. As of now I can own every caliber I want. Can you? Point is, America loves guns, I say make More.

@@chippyjohn1 According to what I have researched, the .284 calibre for 7.1 (Actual caliber) mm was invented by Winchester not The Europeans.....Thats 7mm Rem mag, 7mm RUUM, 7mm-06, 7mm Ultra Mag, 7mm Allen Mag, and pretty much any 7mm .284 cal wild cat that you can imagine... minus some obscure chambering and close calibers. Just ask Iraq in the first gulf war, whos chamerings were supposidly "superior" and ahead. They had the 4th largest millitary in the world, bought their weapons in europiean chamberings and got their asses handed to them in 41 hours. Largely due to the M1A1 tanks and air assets. The gun on the M1A1 is of german design, but you are assuming that we couldn't come up with our own. 100 to 150 years behind is a big number. Educate your self. This would be a good time to not underestimate the U.S. and their chamberings. The U.S. is a lil' more savvy to B.C. and chamberings than you understand.

Jesse Busby I’ve seen videos of a 28 Nosler dropping elk at ~1200 yards. 270 is fine for inside of 350 yards, but the problem is it doesn’t have the powder capacity to push high BC bullets long range at suitable velocities to take game with. And even if it did, no company makes high BC 270 caliber bullets to reload with anyways lol, all the good bullets are in 264, 284, 308, and 338 cal. No love for 270, 325, or 378 in long range stuff. 270 is great for deer, elk, hell even moose in close range. But the magnums were never meant to outshine the 270/30-06 in close range. They were meant to perform how the 270 does at 50 yards, at 500yards and beyond. The ethics of such hunting are up for debate, but that’s what they were made for.

The mounts on my wall are all with my Remington 700 ADL 30.06 I've had for 50 years. I did shoot a nice bull elk at 585 yards with my 300 win mag with factory ammo (180 gr). The scope calibrated for the rifle is the secret. My .06 would drop a moose at 600 yards if the bullet placement was accurate with the right scope. I've shot 4 moose - 2 with my .338 win mag (225 gr bullet) and 2 with my 30.06 (165 gr bullet). The .06 dropped em in their tracks, the .338 did not even with good bullet placement. I've sold all my other rifles and have only my 30.06 that my mom bought me when I was 12 and killed my first deer that year.

I do not hunt past 500 yds. 308 has always served me well.

@GastonGross The kids and my wife hunt with the 7mm-08 and watching a huge bull drop in his tracks proves with good shot placement it is capable of taking some big game. My daughter practiced a bunch and can ring steel almost 100 percent with random distances and angles to wind from 200-400 and that might not be feasible with a gun that has more recoil.

I wouldnt shoot a deer past that range with my 300 rum or 338lap even thou both guns hit paper all day at 1000yards

It comes down to having the right tool for the right job. Personally, I have a 270 for deer, black bear, antelope etc. For bigger game: moose, elk and grizzly the 300 win mag is my go to. With those 2 calibers I can go after anything on the North American continent with confidence.

Few people have the skills to shoot a game animal much past 400 to 500 yards, under ideal field conditions. Blowing wind currents, rain, snow, and sleet affect our abilities to shoot. Not to mention low light conditions found at dawn and dusk when the animals are on the move. long range hunting should be left to military snipers where wounding of the enemy is almost as effective as a kill. Our big game animals deserve our highest respect and one sure shot one quick kill should be our goal..

Your numbers are way off, there are LOTS of guys who can make those shots and do so regularly. You don't have to be a "military sniper" to practice and get good with your rifle to make those shots.

Basically Red Rock precision commercial! There's many perfect long-range cartridges that won't hurt your pocketbook and your shoulder illustrated in this video.

The best cartridge for long distance I've ever had was the 270 Weatherby Magnum; All the deer that hunt with that cartridge never took a step; 130 gr of Nosler Ballistic Tip had at 3500 fps a real rocket; I am currently hunting with a large standard cartridge for long distance 25-06 Remington, super happy with it too.

7mm shooting times westerner. Hands down best long range cartridge

I like the 30-06 because i can find the ammo any where real easy. Secondly the 30-06 gives you all the range and power you need without the blast and recoil of a 300 magnum and up.

I've never owned a 270 but I know it's a great cartridge. I have on 30-06 though and always had great accuracy and great success with it I hunted with it in Alaska took down several moose single shots. Very effective hard to beat for all around. It's a lot more available a lot cheaper and I had a 300 Weatherby and I wasn't as accurate with it because it just kicked so damn hard it was crazy. you have to take your sunglasses off before you shoot that gun cuz it'll knock them right off your face. LOL

@JDJ Because you shouldn't? Because if you manage to hit a deer at 800 yards you MIGHT be able to handload your way to 1000 ft/lbs of remaining energy.

7mm Rem Mag has a variety of loads suited to anything over here. 30-06 can also do the trick as well as .308 and 300 Win Mag. The 270 is also a good load. AND you can find rounds for all these, especially the first two, in any store anywhere at all times. That can be important. My family is all outfitted with the 7mm and we don't have similar looking rounds in different pockets. We all have the same rifle rounds, though sometimes we shoot smaller bullets and half powder loads for white tails in Texas.I agree that recoil is really important and managing that makes a better shooter. Now that we can have sound suppression, I would suggest that as sound damages hearing and causes flinching. Those kids won't always have hearing protection properly situated. But by long range, i mean three hundred yards or perhaps four hundred yards at the most. Keep lots of energy with that placement and do right by the game. Half that distance or less is what I want generally.

I'm So glade we have all of these fine Calibers and cartridges to chose from. The man who knows his rifle has a good chancy for long range shots. Range will always very from cartridge to cartridge knowing what your Riffle is capable of. And knowing your own capability is what it's about. So whatever your Favorite is get out there and set up some targets And see what you can do. Happy hunting.

@@tonnywildweasel8138 my dad and a friend shoot 270s and they have shoot everything, even hunted in Africa with them. It has more to do with shoot placement. They never hunted the big 5 but they shoot Wildebeest, Kudo, Caped Buffalo and others. Also here deer to huge moose and bear.

I’m all about bad ass rifles and scopes and even some long range shots but I pride myself in stalking in close. To me that’s what the hunt is all about

you must live out west. most (certainly not all) of the country east of I-35, the terrain is too flat and/or too heavily wooded, too little visibility (30-40 yards is about normal where I hunt), with too much leaf litter on the ground. Silent movement where I hunt only happens after a good rain, when the leaves are soaking wet. when the leaves are dry, it's like walking on bubble wrap. every. single. step.

You can't beat the 7mm Rem mag or 300 win mag in the medium bore rifles. If you want to go bigger the 300 Weatherby is a fantastic cartridge as well. You can go bigger! but now you have increased recoil, ammo availability issues, Ammo cost. For the type of hunting I do I will stick with the 7mm or 300. I will say the 30-06 cartridge has stood the test of time, one of my favorites.

I bought a Remington model 700 bdl years ago. I'm no expert, I just know if I want to make a accurate long range shot, that gun delivered right out of the box

I've owned 300 win mag, and still own a 7mm mag... But, every elk I've ever killed (Montana) has been with a '06.. Just seems to be the rifle I pick up when gearing up. Weatherby Vanguard from the '70s

Still a 308 fan. I can get ammo about anywhere fairly cheap and i dont hunt over 300 yards.

If you reload, the .308 and the 300 RUM are the same projectile. One just moves faster plus you are open to fire heavier bullets.

300 yards is where my hunts start lol. It’s not a one size fits all issue.

I like the 300 Win Mag and 7mm Rem Mag. The 7 Mag is probably my favorite. The big craze now are the 6.5 creed more and other wildcat calibers. I don't think they offer a landslide difference between the 300 or the 7mm to justify switching.

Weatherby 7mm mag... short range, long range(400 yards out to 600,700) extremely versatile, wide choice of cartridges, accurate, lethal etc, etc.

S&W, mod 1500 20 " barrel , .308 150 gr. 400 yds all day any day , many, many ! Good bucks fell at that range , this rifle up on my bench year after year.

Imo, it's the one that you'll Want to shoot...used to be a 30.06 guy, now I'm a .243 shooter...ethical and comfortable shooting...

i had a 28 nosler, and never once did i think of one of the benefits of that cartridge as being 'light recoil' I mean, i guess its no 300 ultra mag, but a soft shooter it was not.

Be honest with youself mainly .Mines a tikka t3 6.5x55 129 sst hand loads. 100yard zero drops 17"at 300 yards. 5"at 200 .. 10mm group at 100 yards .t8 moderator takes out recoil ....nice ...On a trip for reds in Scotland the ghillie asked us if we were ok out to 300 yards .I was the only one who said no but fine to 250.Truth is i am ok to 400 but prefer to keep it close .well guess who was the only one who put the round through the stags heart .trigger time is the key.

I have Browning BBR in 7mm magnum in all my years of hunting I've only had 1 deer that didn't drop where he was standing and that deer was a 12 pointer 255lb monster at around 250 yards it hit him in both lungs and took part of his heart but he still managed to run about 75 yds. jump a 5 wire fence and 4 ft. creek before he crashed .

Here in Alaska My 2 favorite 338 Win Mag and 338 Rem Ultra Mag My 338 Win use 225gr A frame My 338 Rum use 250 gr Berger

For varmints, the 22-250. For deer and animals of that sort, you can’t go wrong with a 270. For animals like elk and up, the 270 Weatherby Magnum or the 7mm STW are some of my favorite choices

I like the Mossberg Patriot 308

I shoot a 7mm Reming Mag ( a .284) and love it. I shoot 140 grain for deer and 175 for elk. It's perfect for me being 18.

@@russellkeeling9712 Never had much issue unless I hit shoulder, but that’s true for any cartridge I’ve seen so far. I switched to 168’s all around and they’ve been great. Good entry, good exit, not much blood shot at all.

Love my 270, but have always wanted to get a 7mm. The SD in the .284 is so much better than the .277 for larger game. But my Browning 270 is an awesome rifle, have taken 12 Deer in PA with it.

The big change came 30 years ago for the rifles, in Europe. Super lock time and precision. Scopes was excellent in the 80is, Svarovsky, and Zeiss. Some limp after in the US but it's a long way to go to make something one can use for freehand hunting in the moonlight ;)

"Whats the Best Caliber?" The one you can shoot most accurately, most consistently, at the ranges in question. Period.

I own two 700 Remington in 8mm magnum and I hand load both with 200 nosler partitions at 3100 feet per second, all you need for long distance shooting, both are topped with Leopold's with mil dots for long range shooting

Before I even started the video I thought the 284 was probably going to be your pick it shoots flat and further than almost any other caliber out there. 7 millimeter Remington Magnum, 284 Winchester, 280 REM. They're all really top-notch calibers.

For my long range deer hunting it's a 270 wsm for me.

Short, medium, or long - .30-06 in my old Winchester Model 70.

I shoot a 300 RUM. I use to have a 280AI and it was awesome. My next rifle will be a 6.5X284. The 7LRM is very impressive as well.

My go to rifles are .270win and 30-06. .270 when I’m expecting longer shots more likely, and 30-06 for shorter shots are expected more likely... my .270 set up weigh 12+lbs and 30-06 set up weigh less than 7lbs.

I have been deer, antelope and elk hunting for 55+ years. 30-06, 270 Win, 264 Win Mag, 6mm Rem. I have taken deer in 8 states, and a couple of hogs in FL. Some at 20 yards and out to 500+. The 264 WM and 270 Win are awesome in the hands of a good rifleman in WY. You should hand load and practice!

Hornady superformance ammo sucks. At least it did when it first came out. I will never buy anymore of it.

My everyday hunting rifle is a 25-06 Remington model 700 . I have real good range and knock down power. I use a 120gr Sierra hollow point. I use a 3-9 Redfield Eliminator WIDE view. It's a old scope but it works fine. My scope is set inch in a half high at a 100 yards. It's good up to 300 to 400 yards most of the time. If I know I'm going to shoot over 400 yards I prefer my 300 BURGESS BROWNING A BOLT.

Winchester model 70 pre 64(controlled round feed) in .270 with Boss system to tighten your groups is all I need, Federal Premiums boat tail 130 gr. Noslers with polymer tips

I wish someone would do a round table discussion on long range hunting ethics. Based on the Boone & Crockett standards - long range doesn't really fit. Long range does not seem to fit in to the "fair chase" hunting ethic. I applaud guys who can shoot long distance and think it is great and lots of fun when at the range. But hunting an animal at some of these ridiculous distances is certainly not 'fair chase.' Just because we have the technology to shoot long distances doesn't mean it is right to kill at those distances. Unfortunately for some guys, ELR is simply an excuse for bad hunting skills.

Fair chase and ethics are subjective. Ask an anti-hunter for the definition and it will probably be different than yours. My definition is hunting within your own skill set, weapon setup and your own ethics.

Great round. Basically perfect for any North American game animal. Most people are over-calibered anyway. And I don’t even shoot it!

When I went elk hunting in Colorado I took many different rifles. The two largest elk I ever harvested were with my .275 Rigby. In 2019 I harvested my elk with a 266 yard shot with my .444 Marlin. The key to hunting is not caliber but your skill at hunting. If you have to take a shot that is further than 400 yards you aren't much of a hunter you are just a shooter. Never take a shot unless you can tell your partner just where you will hit that animal before you ever take the shot.

6.5-06 is my favorite. From Whitetail to Elk.

So do I, but I don't get out West much these days, and there is no use for it back East.

Been shooting my 1986 Ruger 7MM since 1990 and for me the biggest difference was the bullet, I used to use Remington core lock ammo but as soon as it hit it would turn into shrapnel instantly destroying meat so I switched to Hornady 162 grain and at 300 yards flipped the buck over onto its horns as soon as it hit and the thud sound it made was insane. The buck was dead before it hit the ground. PS: it went threw the buck in one piece and the hole on the exit wound was about as big as a golf ball. 👍🏻🇺🇸

a lot of guys don't seem to understand that about these really hot bullets. if impact velocity is expected to be north of about 2600-2700, premium bullets (Swift, Barnes, Woodleigh, Nosler, Norma) are the way to go. I've had good luck over the years with Hornady spire points and recently with ELD-X in various calibers, but I haven't had to shoot further than about 50 yards at a deer in more than 30 years, so I can get away with "slow" out of my 6.5x55, 308 Win, 9.3x62, and 45-70. I've also had good luck with Speer Grand Slams. Certainly not a premium bullet, but out of a barrel at 2500-2700 fps, they have always held up well. I don't have any magnums because I've never had a need to reach out. One day soon, maybe. But more likely, my "flat shooter" is going to be a 280 AI lower impact velocities also generally translates to less ruined meat.

The 300 rum is a hell of a round. It's a powerhouse that doesn't skimp in the accuracy department. In my opinion it is the perfect round for anything less than 1200lbs. I just wish the brass life would last 3-5 instead of 2-3 shots. Glad to see someone else on the same bandwagon.

270. and 308 the best and cheap to shoot.

Ive owned from 260rem up to big 338s and ive settled on a 28 nosler. You can run it mild at 2900fps with a 195 berger and the ballistics are incredible. Ive shot a moose with a 260rem and it didnt go far. Know your own limits and your rifle's limits and it all good.

I love the.284 cal., I have a 7mm08 Xbolt 24” barrel and a 280 Xbolt with a 26” barrel and my next gun will be a 28 Nosler for the long range shooting or at least for 350 yards and beyond.

Good thing I have a .50 bmg

7stw is a great rifle for long range.

I like my .308 but for long range hunting in North America (500 yards and beyond) I would choose the 300 Win Mag. Tighter groups at long range and less compensating for bullet drop. If one can afford it that is what I would recommend.

I hunt with a Browning a bolt clambered to a 300 Burgess . I use 300 Weatherby Magnum cases. 96gr reloader 22 magnum powder. 150gr Nosler ballistic tip. I have a 30 inch Shillings Barrel my receivers blued the barrel is stainless fluted. It shoots a little over 3,800 feet per second. And I shoot as far as I need to shoot around here where I live. I'm from the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee.

my dad and i have hunted washington and montana with 270 winchester and 30-06. never needed a magnum. i think magnums add alot of recoil for not much improved ballistics.

I shoot a 338wm m70, My old 270win. M70 kicked more than my 338. The main reason I bought it was my buddy's dad was selling it for 600.00 it's has a McMillan stock and a vx3 target scope on it.

My 300 much flatter, longer distance, and harder hitting, but for a longer distance. All are good, given type of game and round requirement for that game, but don't forget....With any round shot placement is always number-one.

It's amazing to me that this discussion has continued for over 70 years! First of all, what you are calling "long range shooting" (over 400 yards) and as stated 800, 900 and 1,200 yards IS NOT HUNTING!! It is IRRESPONSIBLE. With over 40 years of "field experience" in both hunting and military environments I think I have a right to say what I'm saying. During that time, I have never had the need to shoot a magnum rated rifle cartridge, I do however carry a .44 magnum pistol in bear country. With that being said, learn to hunt, learn to shoot (shot placement), learn that maximum velocity from any given cartridge does not equal accuracy and get to KNOW your gun by spending time at the range shooting under varied conditions. Have fun and be safe!

Go sheep hunting in Colorado sometime, you will find 800 yards may be the only chance you get, where you can actually get to one you put in the dirt. Flatter shooting trajectories just help in shooting up steep inclines in a windy canyon easier to do the trig.

I love the 7 mm Mags, the 28 Nosler is not an exception. There are even some not too ridiculously light rifles available from Bergara, Browning etc. The main problems are : 1) the ammo was not very easy to get even before the pandemic 2) ammo price is like the Weatherbies, Lazzeronis or Dakotas......

Depends on the person equipment that they’re proficient with. Depending on real world distances, for me I choose my 257 Wby MK5 RC, 30-378 Wby MK5 RC & my custom built 338 RUM. But that’s just me...

I would add the 300 WSM and the good ol 7mm Rem Mag to that long range A List, but me personally I hardly ever even get a chance at a shot past 500 yards where I live now so my smaller cased 7mm and 6.5mm see more action then my magnums and yes a little sissy kicking 7mm-08 or 6.5x55 will absolutely hammer a deer or feral hog.

I hear good things about both bit wen it comes to reaching way to far out there the ultra just has that tiny edge I was in a tug of war with the 300wsm or 300rum & although the short action was a big sell point along with Ammo availability I went with the 300rum simply because you can do every thing the wsm can & a touch more if you feel really good about your skill level, good points tho still like the wsm maybe next time LoL

Barrel throat life and recoil are big factors if you're not hunting anything beyond 200 yards or so.

I still like my 300 win mag!!!

I considered porting barrel for less recoil on my 300. Asked gunsmith and his reply was "how good can you shoot?" (I get at least a grouse a year with head shot) He said "don't need it if you can do that"

Slit a ruffed grouse's throat last year with my 300win, would have cut his head off but got lucky and it just barely grazed him lol. Too far of a walk back to the truck to get my shotgun.

The best caliber for me is a 270 winchester I hunt in northern Kentucky and the average field is between 300 to 500 yards and wooded areas are maybe 75 at most but I hunt with a 270 winchester I love it. It’s a flat trajectory and has incredible knock down power but I also love that you can reach out and hit something at 700-800 yards with a 270 it’s a great gun for deer elk moose and bear even it’s just a good all around catridge I shot a doe through a pile of brush with it and it carried through and got to the deer

I shoot a 30-06 with a 208 gr eld match bullet not really to hunt with but to target shoot and my rifle is extremely accurate with that round

My browning bar 25/06,is flat shooting and will put any nice buck or elk down fast with a well placed shot with a lot less recoil to boot!!!!!

something kinda magical about 7mm, I don't know how the BCs just come out higher. I'm sure it's got something to do with geometry and ogive and delta and other maths I don't really understand, but the 7mm projectiles punch way above their size/weight.

where i hunt your lucky to see past 100 yards, the 30-06 is VERY effective here and you can buy ammo at every local hardware store or gun shop

Reload! Accuracy you will get is unreal compared to the stuff off the shelf. And sometimes your local shop won't have the grain or exact type of bullet you sighted your rifle in with. Happy shooting!

A stamped "I" at the cartridge bottom in writing styles used in the past in Germany could be easily mistaken for a "J". 8X57J 7,80/8,07mm was made in 1894/95 later from 1905 germans made 8X57JS 7,89/8,29mm witch was much powerfull now all S kalibers got primers paint in black and if any body who owns old Mauser made before 1905 traying to shoot ammo mark as S can blow up that gun. With all do respect mister ciro old 8X57J or JR (JR is for brake action) is less powerfull then his younger ,,broter" 8X57 JS or JRS.

Krzysztof Powaza That about you talking about is Patrone 88 bullet for first Mauser G1988 rifle,you are right,old and very rare rifle.All other G98 and K98 Mausers use modern 8x57 JS bullet.

+ciro yes but for example in Poland shooters and hunters always talking about those 2 kalibers .And I do shoot a 8x57S from my old Mauser from 1926 perfect condition and shoots perfect grups

For a magnum I shoot a 300RUM. Main deer rifle is a 280REM and I also own a 7mmRem Mag but if I'm going to open areas here in Alberta and I need more than my 280REM, then I go right to 300RUM for to make ethical shots.

7mm vs 300 for me comes down to not many efficient 7mm cartridges, usually anemic or drastically overbore. So I selected a 300 prc (215 berger @~2980)

What Caliber would you use for Long Range hunting a Bigfoot or Sasquatch ? How about up close to a Bigfoot or Sasquatch what caliber would you use ?

That's a lot of gun for anything smaller than an elk(.422). Hand loads in some of the small calibers and wildcat rounds can get you there when not hunting for cape buffalo.

280 Remington or 264 win mag for me

My son in law has both the 300 & 338 win mag but if I’m not going hunting with him he always wants to use my 7mm-08 cheers Yogi Australia 🇦🇺🤙🤙

I use a .270 Winchester or a .270 wsm. They are the perfect rounds for most types of hunting situations. Availability of ammo is the number one issue for most. It depends what type of terrain and what you are hunting. Less than 200 yds, I use my 6.8 spc. See the pattern? .277 caliber ! A reloader's mindset.
