Long COVID - Muscle Fatigue | Muscle Fiber Type Shift is Possible

Long COVID - Muscle Fatigue | Muscle Fiber Type Shift is Possible
Following up on our last video about the muscle fiber type shift in long COVID patients. In this talk I have discussed the evidence that shows that the muscle fiber type can be switched from glycolytic to oxidative and vice versa. And, not only the fiber type switching can occur but mitochondria can also be increased. Let's review.

I have been listening to Dr Mobeen since 2020 to help my family survive the c virus .. in 2020 I also had just began low carb keto because I had began having terrible neuropathy in my feet from diabetes and heard it got rid of diabetes and most of inflammatory diseases .. My feet felt better as soon as I got off sugars and grains and the arthritis felt healed in about one year- I noticed no more severe night pain in winter or any at all. I am 66 and 4 1/2 months ago I began carnivore ( where we eat mostly beef bacon butter eggs fish shrimp chicken and we drink coffee still and we use spices without sugar and have a little dairy like cream and cheese ) .. i started feeling better in two weeks. I have had no more foggy brain and sleeping better and feeling wide awake when I wake up.. i have a lot less depression and negative feelings also.. I have lost 15 lbs and my knee and my ankle and calf are feeling better from old injuries .. my husband’s been with me on this journey to lose weight we both have lost 70 lbs each on low carb keto .. He is 3 months carnivore now after 4 years low carb keto and he’s lost another 30 pounds and after 3 weeks into this lifestyle the strength in his hands returned and He’s 68 and he was not able to open a water bottle anymore…. Edema in his ankles is all gone .. Mikhalia Peterson was so sick from debilitating arthritis and headaches and skin issues and depression from all the sicknesses she had as a child and some bipolar issues and she led herself to an elimination diet of meat ( steaks and lamb )and water and salt only and she’s still on that 6 years now and well !! And her dad Jordan Peterson started it then after his daughter started the lion diet as Mikhalia named it and his gum disease went away which was supposedly not able to be healed and her mom does an elimination diet too but not so severe.. when you eliminate many foods then start from the basics of meat you can then heal and find food you can be healthy eating because our regular diet has been found to have many fake foods that are causing our bodies to age with disease..hope this helps 🙏💕

Muscle fibre type, vasoconstriction and clotting are all relative to Adenosine Deaminase activity. Athletes with mutations of Adenosine Deaminase have different muscle Glyco/Oxidative profiles. Anything that disrupts Adenosine Deaminase has the potential to affect all of the above. Adenosine being a biomarker of hypoxia is ideally placed to alter processes that rely on oxygen. Adenosine Deaminase binds to Myosin, for instance. In a sprint training study, a decrease in AMPD activity was reported concurrent with an increase in the proportion of fast-twitch (type II) fibres.

This is not just a ray of sunshine... It means so much more. Two years into Long Covid - MECFS, I kept working to improve only to see a reduction in what I could do. Last week you shared this information, so, I changed the way, and type, of movements I do. I have less brain fog, with les expenditure of energy, and a slight increase in energy... Its real slight, but I was watching it go the other way. This year, compared to last, I am only able to do half as much. My self talk is now to slow down, and just enjoy moving, as apposed to keep working to try to recover. This is HUGE! I actually feel a difference - I did not with all the other "treatments" that were said to help. I am SO Grateful. Thank you!!

GREAT VIDEO!! OMG! I am always impressed by the Dr. Been's work and amazing illustrations!! The rise of glycolytic muscle fiber supports my hypothesis that hypoxia may be involved. Given the promising studies using plasmapheresis machines, the hypothesis that micro clots may be causing hypoxia is supported. If true, I might suggest these supplements: 1) zinc plus NAC to increase ADAMTS13 to reduce von Willebrand Factors. 2) Nattokinase to break down fibrin. 3) Bromelain to reduce RBC clumping. 4) Ripe banana peel that has BanLec known to attach to IgG4, and may correct IgG4's flaw of not triggering liver complements. Just brainstorming. Feel free to laugh!

I wonder if the tendency of the muscles cells shifting to the glycolysis process is the result of the cell having less oxygen at its disposal…? Less oxygen as a result of an endothelitis which causes less oxygen to be transported to muscle tissue (for example). I guess my question is if we can really revert the shift to the glycolysis process by a certain type of exercise without solving the problem of the endothelitis?

I can't thank you enough Dr Been for doing the hard work not only of seeking out the various medical papers which explain the different types of muscle fibers and how excercise and disease processes can cause a shift in the prevalence of each type, but then summarising and synthesising all the technical details into something which a lay person such as myself can understand 🙏. My partner was hospitalised for 7 months after her second dose of an mRNA vaccine in 2021 and now still suffers with dysautonomia, terrible hypertension and post-exertional malaise. She *has* thankfully improved over the last 2.5 years to a point where she can have some degree of a normal lifestyle 😊. But the key thing is, when she was in hospital I remember saying to her "we know something has changed in your muscles, but I just wish I knew what it was". We both watched this video this morning and boy did it hit the target 🎯. I cannot find the words to express how valuable the work you do is. Thank you 🤩

Commenting to encourage more explanations of mechanisms of health-supporting habits (in this case, movement). "Everyone says" that "exercise is good for you," but understanding exactly what is happening physiologically when one engages in different types of movement can help people plan what type of movement may be most appropriate for their medical challenges and/or goals.. Thanks for this excellent and informative exploration; it may be all related to a particular "topic of interest," but the information is very applicable to a much larger set of questions. Thanks!
