There is a version that really tugs at my heart where there's people talking about missing their loved ones who are away protecting our country. That's the one that always made me cry.

This song is such a tearjerker for me. The line at the beginning “a little voice came on the phone, he said daddy when you coming home” gets me every time. Being a father away from his kids is one of the hardest feelings to deal with. As someone else mentioned, there’s a post-9/11 version subtitled “Message From Home” which adds vocals that hat puts the singer fighting a war overseas, not away on a business trip. In that version, when I hear the “daddy” in the line I mentioned earlier, I lose it every time. Edit: the album version add the extra words. The “Message from Home” video adds images but the sound is the same. While the video is powerful, the audio-only version is the one that I can’t describe in words.

Some songs are just arrows right to the heart, and this is one of them. Good memories of listening to it in my dad's pickup truck back in the day.

Beautiful song I like that

This song is both happy and sad. Personally I have be on both ends of it. When I would deploy and would talk to my wife and girls, then my wife saying similar to the wife in the song saying her part to be wife him. I am a Marine that served 15 1/2 years, from 92 - 08. I lost my wife in 2004 after 1 deployment to Afghan, and was during Iraq when she passed. I don't know if you ever heard this tribute version mentioned in the comments or not. I am not expecting a reaction video. That is up to you but, please just listen to it. I believe you will like it way more.
