What’s the Lone Survivor movie about?
Based on The New York Times bestselling true story of heroism, courage and survival, Lone Survivor tells the incredible tale of four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level al-Qaeda operative. @@raven55six Very much does matter, my dude. You're not wrong that it can have SOME variation. If the director/writer strays too far, it becomes a different story. The danger is taking too much artistic liberty for the sake of the audience. For example, Luttrell never saw the Chinook go down, but it was shown that way for the emotional moment. The SEAL drawing his weapon on the pilot (which is utter BS--and can land you in a lot of trouble whether you're a SEAL or not) is also an artistic liberty taken to loosely! If you turned the Lone Survivor story into a musical, is it still fine? As you said, "it happened and this showcases that in a fine manner is all that matters." Would that still apply? I'll bet I know your answer.

It was all in vain long before the US left. As soon as the US decided to be the Air Force and Special Forces for one side (an uneasy alliance of convenience) in an internal civil war, the eventual outcome was clear. It was only a matter of how long, how many lives lost, and how many billions spent. Instead, we should have gone in very hard, destroyed Al qeeda in Afghanistan ourselves (instead of relying on local forces) and then gotten the heck out.

  • @BUDX

@@KYCCCGuy US went their to capture Osama who was found in Pakistan later. So they had been searching him in the wrong place from the beginning. Also to kill Al-Qaeda all by themselves without locals help would be devastating as US troops knew nothing of the country hence locals played a big role in helping the army to counter Taliban forces. Probably, the 9/11 event and the present chaos in the world, for which US is pretty much responsible, could have been avoided if US had learnt to mind its own business even before Vietnam war.
