I enjoyed 35 years of my working life as a a sound engineer then Senior Cameraman then to Central telivision as Supervisory cameraman and Lighting Director and Director/ script writer till 2001 retired it was a wonderful life thanks to LWT

The saddest thing I’ve seen is scaffolding around Kent house she’s being demolished ,one of the most impressive Tv centres in the U.K. ,LWT was class from its building to its shows even the start up tune i remember was up beat ,I miss the old itv being a Londoner I was proud of London weekend , I remember in 1983 they jet washed the tower and studios and the white tiles sparkled and she looked brand new to finish off the face lift they placed with pride LWT on the building facing the Thames , nowadays itv is rubbish I miss the itv I knew growing up like LWT I was born in 68 ,goodbye Kent house we thank you and will miss you and a thank you to all her staff for making great programmes with class 😢❤

When I work in London, I walk down to the South Bank and it's heartbreaking to see it coming down. Can't understand why they let that go and then moved into the old BBC white city building and used Television centre for studios. The same happened in Birmingham - The ATV (never accepted it as Central) complex was left abandoned for years and then that too was toppled to the ground. And all it is now is some pathetic office for boring Central News. All those overpaid ITV execs of the 80's and 90's especially those at LWT who took millions out of that company never took the power of Murdoch as a serious threat. The day he started handing out free Sky Digital boxes was the best marketing coup ever thought of - destroy both ITV Digital and then ITV itself.

From a U.S. perspective: The London Studios were Europe’s answer to Metromedia Square/Fox Television Center in Los Angeles (also the home of KTTV), which was demolished many years ago for a high school. A number of shows were produced there, from Soul Train to Name That Tune to the Norman Lear sitcoms.

Communities secretary, Micheal Gove has given the all clear for Make’s £700m ITV Studios redevelopment - Feb 2024. I remember the building as new after London Weekend Television moving from its Wembley studios in 1968, did see some shows at LWT, The Rag Trade and Aspel & Co, struggling to remember, now in my late 60’s, did meet the late Dickie Davies from World of Sport, and watched the late Cilla Black in reception one afternoon.

We even got ITV here in Dublin from Ulster Tevision. I remember the second version of the river ident from saturday nught tv growing up !

Your Weekend ITV. As a child I couldn't wait to get home from and wait for the handover from Thames. When you hear LWT start means the weekend has officially started

Studio 5 was where World Of Sport came from

Why have they moved? From what I heard they was some of the best studios in Europe?

@@kyleandrei2641 So What is left of BBC Television Centre (now just 3 Studios) has been leased from the BBC to House all the Programmes originally from The London Studios !!

So with the exception of Yorkshire, all the original ITV studios are gone.
