The way that she crafts songs that are so specific to her feelings and experiences, yet broad enough that other can relate to amazes me. The imagery weaved by her words get me every time. Love your reactions! So happy that you came across my feed.

Fun fact. She never actually says love of my life. Only love of your life. So the title is actually in reference to the final lyric, Loss of My Life. 😢

LOML is my favorite off this album, one of my favorites from all her music, and already my 3rd most listened to song of the year. It’s just all so beautiful, the music, her voice, the lyrics, and it hits you right in the feels.

Often LOML is used with capitals and means the -love of my life- . She used it here with a lower case loml -loss of my life- which we speculated when the tracklist was leaked (sadly)

This is her saddest song yet. You can hear the heartbreak.

This album is so good each time I hear it, tbh. It's just not easily digestible pop music. A lot more abstract

This song is about Joe / William Bowery The repetitive piano background is somewhat identical to ‘evermore’ which was played by William Bowery (Joe). Many references were directed to her 6 year relationship with Joe: - Mr. Steal your girl (from Tom) - the British accent when she said ‘the love of your life’ - talking rings and talking cradles (Midnights and Lover album always pertain to this) - I can’t get out of bed cause something counterfeits dead (You’re losing me) This song reflects her pain and depression when they broke up.

The song is about Matty Healy. Mr. Steal Your Girl is the name of a song. She loved him for 10 years, even when she played it safe with Joe but wasn’t truly happy because he wouldn’t commit - she wasted all that youth. The “Fortnight”/2 weeks with Matty was fake/counterfeit. He love bombed her then left her and wouldn’t pick up her calls and avoided her like the plague. Lowdown as an adjective is defined as mean, standup guy has a second meaning as someone full of trickery. I could go on & on. Thank God she finally found love & happiness with Travis Kelce

@@yettykitty4893No. You are way off. Taylor called the muse a cinephile, which is a lover of film. Joe has said many times his love of film made him to want to be an actor. He also likes to take pics with black and white film. I think she is still rebounding with Travis. I don’t she will stay with him. She likes the smart, artistic guys.

​@@stargazer3677 the song applies to both guys. Most of TTPD is about the experiences and emotions. She wasn't with Matty for only a fortnight. They had a thing back in 2014 and remained in touch. There was even an emotional affair towards the end of the relationship with Joe. Once Taylor was free and their connection wasn't "forbidden" Matty ghosted her. She eludes to the situation throughout TTPD.

Loml means the loss of my life

Devastating song about Matty Healy, the lead singer of the British band “The 1975”. Almost every single lyric of every song alludes to the 10 year situationship. Also, lowdown boy as an adjective is defined as someone mean. Standup guy has a second meaning as someone who is full of trickery; it’s not a compliment. Matty really really really deeply hurt her. It’s the main theme throughout the entire album. Two songs about Travis Kelce, the rest are a few sprinkled in about Joe, and let’s not forget 1 about Kim Kardashian.

@@karol-ys5ow - I love reading your perspective and references (btw i love “The Great War”!!). I’ve been looking at commentary on different reaction channels. It seems like this particular song, out of all 31 songs is the most heartbreaking, and also the most opinionated as to who it’s about. I was so certain it was Matty, but you really gave me some food for thought! Regardless, it’s devastating to know that Taylor felt so hurt and sings with so much sorrow!! I don’t know if I’d call what she had with Matty just a fling. They have a lot of history there. Matty even worked on the Midnights album with Taylor! I’m also now thinking that Maroon was about Matty all along, but who knows. (Maroon is in my top 10 of her entire discography!). loml would be so much more painful if Taylor wasn’t already in a happy relationship with Travis for about a year. I really hope she’s finally met “the love of her life”

I don't see any hints that this would be about MH. She talks about a relationship that lasted a long time and felt safe rather than starry eyed. She references he's a stand up guy, references him liking old movies (she's mentioned before her and Joe liked to watch old films). Detangling 6-7 years of your life with someone else, losing your home, the city and country you made home, dividing stuff up, losing all the plans and dreams you had - that's a huge loss. Also, calling MH Mr. Steal your girl seems very unlikely and doesn't fit at all with all we know about how she's several times referred to Joe as if he stole her away (like getaway car etc)

She's said herself that he was just a manic phase, not love, while she was broken hearted and people are still so drama hungry that they add matty into everything. A year ago they were all hating on him...
