Was experiencing the double click issue, followed the steps in the video and successfully replaced both switches. Purchased replacements from Amazon that were marketed as 20M (20 million clicks). Working like new, thank you for the video. Exercise special care with the springs during the disassembly and reassembly steps - they are quite small and would be very easy to lose track of.

Thank you so much!! This video worked like a charm! I was a little hesitant to try it but the hardest part was cleaning the old solder off. I should have spent the extra $2 for some solder wick to remove the old solder but I still got it off with a little extra effort. I spent $12 on a soldering iron and $6 for a set of 6 replacement switches on Amazon. I already had the screwdriver set. I really like this mouse and tried several different mice that just didn't work for me. Carpel tunnel came back. I was also hesitant to purchase a replacement of the same mouse because I figured it would just fail in less than a year of use like the one I have. Thanks to you I fixed my old favorite mouse and felt comfortable purchasing a spare since I know I can fix it when the mouse button eventually fails.

I was so relaxed watching this and had my volume up but wasn't expecting that noise at 6:10. It definitely got my heart going again. LOL.

Great video. installed new micro switches in my MX Performance mouse today following the instructions in this video. No previous soldering experience whatsoever but completed the job in about an hour (including 15 minutes searching for one of those tiny wheel springs dropped on the carpet) and the mouse feels like new. As others have pointed out, make sure you engage the on/off switch properly on reassembly (not shown on the video). Many thanks to the poster, I really appreciate your efforts.

Fixed the left switch on my Performance MX mouse using these instructions, using the right switch off a double-clicking mouse. There are multiple free websites that can be used to check for bad switch frequency. This video was very complete and clear, great job author! Very comfortable mouse to use, glad I don't have to go shopping for a replacement.

Props dude - I just replaced a faulty microswitch on my MX following this video. A heads-up for anyone else doing this, if you over-tighten the screw at 8:30 the on/off slider switch underneath becomes very difficult to move. Just keep it reasonably tight and you're all good.

When a mouse microswitch exhibits flakey clicks but still has decent mechanical clicking action then the contacts just need to be cleaned with contact cleaner such as Deoxit. I got my 4 Logitech Trackman Marble mice clicking properly again by using Deoxit on the offending switches. The microswitches in these things are half the size of switches in other mice and removing the top piece is quite difficult to do without breaking the tabs because the plastic is very hard and the fit tolerance between the top and bottom is tight. I also don't have a microscope to aid in this. At 55 the peepers ain't what they used to be. You could introduce contact cleaner into the tiny gaps around the small actuator on top but that will be pretty tedious. I chose to get a pin vise (small handheld drill bit driver) and a 5/64" split point drill bit to drill a hole into one side of the top piece. The split point will help keep the bit from walking while trying to start the hole. Initially you need to apply good pressure on the bit just until a divot forms in the plastic. Then use only slight pressure after that or you risk suddenly poking through the cover and damaging the internals. You have to take this slowly and when you feel the drill bit grab a little it means you're about to pop through the side wall. This is where you need to hold back on the pin vise while turning to clear out the plastic "chips" from the inside of the hole and so that the bit doesn't crash into the internal parts. The hole makes it much easier to introduce 3 or 4 drops of Deoxit into the switch. 3 or 4 drops is a lot for these switches but I wasn't confident one drop would be enough to make it to the contact points. It will easily wick into the hole. I only had a very small tube of it but it also comes in a plastic bottle that includes a thin needle applicator that would work better than the small tube I had. The Deoxit will start to wick out of all gaps on the switch. Just wipe off with tissue or paper towel.

I inherited a partially broken one from my father that got me through college, and recently dug up from my basement. 110PhP (roughly 2USD) and a good scrub down later, I'm proud to use the same mouse my Father used as he worked in Africa. And a massive upgrade from my A4Tech OP-G20D! ^w^

I used contact cleaner spray by Pro-Power to fix several mice. I opened the case of the mouse, but I did not open the micro switches. I pressed the button of the micro switches with a small screw driver so that the gap between the button and the case of the switch is at its biggest. Then I sprayed the contract cleaner spray into the switch through this little hole. This already worked for me. I use quite some cleaner spray. I dried the surroundings of the switch of superfluous spray afterwards. Thanks for this video!

I have disassembled and cleaned the micro-switches a couple times, finally got fed up with them and decided to replace them. I managed to find compatible switches in an old Dell 2-button, scroll-wheel optical mouse - those things seem to last forever (bought at a thrift store for $3). So far the Frankensteined parts are working good, they are not Omron - which I am glad for, I suspect they would just end with the same contact oxidization problem - and are a little heavier in the their action, but I am hoping that means they have a different configuration and will last longer.

Didn't want to reward Logitech by giving them more money for a new mouse! They lost me as a customer. When I watched your video, I decided to give it a try and bought new micro switches (2FC-F-K(50M)) with 50 million clicks. (not sure if I can trust that promise, but I started to count the clicks now 😂) . The most difficult stuff for me, was to remove the solder out of the holes, but with a lot of patience, I finally made it 😀. Good that you also showed how to re-assemble everything 😊

Thanks a lot! After long struggle to clean the pads/holes from solder with copper wick I gave up and soldered it quite painfully pushing the microswitch with my finger through molten solder. Uffff :)

Checked out this video since my Performance MX is pretty old at this point and I'd had problems with the switches in the past. Now the question is if I can find the first one I'd gotten for work (actually an MX Revolution), as I'm fairly certain I've got it in storage somewhere. Time for some spring cleaning and re-organizing all the various components I've got, might as well do an inventory of everything too so in the future I can just check that.

During reassemble make sure the transparent piece in the front has the pointy bits facing UP (to hold the springs) and the little spike in the middle pointed towards the inside of the mouse. You don't need to unsolder any wires either, just the switch. This comment clicked on with my repaired MX, I got 5 switches from ebay for a dollar.

Dexoit G5 works wonders on these switches. No need to replaces these switches. Just spray Deoxit on the end of a Q tip and work the microswitch plunger with the wet Q tip. As soon as you see the Deoxit leak out of the bottom of the switch reverse the Q tip to the dry end and work the switch a few dozen times to let the Deoxit burnish the contacts. Let dry. Might just as well do the other switch too. Going two+ years now on a new replacement G700 I got under warranty. The replacement started acting up after 90 days. Now I have 2 good mice.

These micro switches rarely needs to be replaced -> 90% of issue can be solved with a good contact cleaning. If the clicking pressure/motion/feel is fine but the click is not registering. You can pop off the black casing of the switch carefully and clean the copper contacts inside. Try that first before you replace it. There are other videos on YT showing you how to remove the casing.

Great video! Thanks. I managed to solder the piece. However, when I started to reassemble, the two screws in the front - which hold the transparent plastic piece where the two small springs go - don't hold anymore. This bended the circuit, so when I tried to close the mouse, the buttons don't click. Anyone had this issue as well? Maybe I'm missing some steps, even though I've watched the video many times and couldn't figure it. Thanks!

I just finished replacing both switches on my MX but not sure how I did yet as it is still charging. Just wanted to ask if you knew what I could use to clean or neutralize the flux residue on hands. Several times after soldering I have accidentally touched my lip and had it swell up from the toxins in the flux paste even after washing hands with dish liquid or mechanic's hand cleaner. Any ideas on what works best to neutralize this stuff?

Thermosphere I am having one particular issue in different matter. I unscrewed the board to fix the button but after setting back it seems to be some problem with laser sensor. The pointer is shaking and can't point properly. Do you know what could have triggered this issue?

Probably dust on the sensor, check for sensor cable also (yellow flat flex cable attached to black sensor PCB)

I watched this and then went on ebay with the unit number D2fc-7-7n and found the switch. I was confused by the product number (no numbers,10m or 20m). The numbers stands for the number of times the switch can be pressed- 10 million 20 mill or who knows. I'm sure you know which one Logitech used. The difference in price was minimal so it was not about the money.Guess which one I bought.

Open an old mouse, open the microswitch recctangular box, take out the wierd shaped metal thingy, stick it in your broken mouse, no soldering required. If you don't have an old mouse, order a microswitch for a couple dollars and take that metal thingy out.

should have cleaned the crud out of your scroll wheel while you had it out.

I would have replaced those microswitches with GENUINE Omron microswitches made in Japan. Those are MUCH higher-quality than the cheap Chinese knock-offs. I figure that an Omron switch made in Japan would last for AT LEAST 5 years; whereas with the Chinese knock-offs, you're lucky to get just TWO years out of them.

Does this count as ASMR?
