DO NOT BUY. Worst purchase I've ever made. It disconnects ALL the time and you will spend HOURS trying to reconnect in vain. So frustrating.

Yes, I got them from MotionVFX but I have not been able to use them with my old Macbook Pro for some reason

Have you tried if the camera can detect motion through a window using image motion? Or does it use IR to detect motion? Thanks!

Does the iCloud motion recording include the moments before the motion? Or only once it has detected the motion? I know it is not continuous recording (sadly). But had Arlo cameras and by the time it was recording, the object was nearly out of frame.

Good review Jon. I’m glad we’re seeing more HSV cameras too and glad you bought up other other cameras that are much cheaper. Hopefully the quality will be there.

Wooow... just realized that there is a “Anatel” logo under the camera... which means Logitech will finally sell HomeKit cameras here in my country!!!! That’s awesome... also, great video, very detailed and easy to watch!

Hi, could you please test and compare with the Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell ?

So my problem is I live HomeKit but when I got my camera set (Ring) there isn’t much that supports HomeKit now thinking about changing but can the Logitech Circle be plugged up to a Solar power panel for power(charge)? If not there aren’t very many choices if you don’t have plug ins near where you want it mounted (outside) any opinion or recommendations would be helpful I will subscribe to you. Thanks for the review information very helpful.

I was looking for another logitech Circle 2 camera, so it’s really great that this just popped up now! I’ve had absolutely no problems with the circle 2, and this just looks like a next step!

Hello. Does it can use face recognition (like Netatmo)?

Would using an ipad as a hub affect operation in any way? Does ipad get warm over heat?

Having problems with my Circle View. On original set up it wasn't recording any videos. On restarting the HomePod mini I used as the hub it did restart recording. Recording then stopped working. A restart of the HomePod mini brought it back (but lot videos from 5 days previous). Not great for a security solution.

Nice video! Do you have problems with audio volume when streaming? Mine is super low volume?

Does the motion detect work better than the updated to beta Apple secure video circle 2 ? So many false triggers and recording issues with it atm. I’m guessing  SV is baked in so should be more stable too? Would love to see a side by side comparison with the circle 2

TBH, I found each of them just as good

How do the recorded clips look as far as catching the full event since they’re motion triggered? I had the Arlo system originally and you always missed the first little bit before it started recording so it was almost useless. I switched to the Nest system because of the continuous recording for that reason. I’m debating going all in on the HomeKit system but the only recording motion feature could prevent that if it’s similar to the Arlo.

Hello there, very good review. Quick question, if i wanted to locate the camera inside my house on the windowsill pointing outside, would the motion sensor still work through the glass? Or would the camera be able to stream and record on the 10 day loop already used when motion detection is enabled?

Will this camera tie up my bandwidth? I have 20mb download speed, which is the fastest available in my area. If I kit out the exterior of the house with these, I'm worried it will slow everything down.

Bought this camera yesterday and I’m having a nightmare getting it setup. Adding to HomeKit I just get a ‘not found’ error after it’s looking for the camera for ages. Tried everything to get it to work and nothing :(

I bought this camera from online Apple Store, and gong to return it. It’s turned out that in order to record you need to buy Apple TV or HomePod which another $100-200, other wise this camera only steam live and dies not do recording. So this guy should have mention this most important fact. That what security camera is for to record not to live steam

An excellent review!!! I wish Logitech and Apple would work more closely together to ensure functions push the limit. The tech is there. The question, too, is if Logitech is going to update the Circle 2 and keep it current? Hmm....

Thanks Jon, can you turn off the blue light ? I ve got camera status light switches off on the home app, but the blue light remains on. This was not the case with the circle 2 camera, you could turn it off.

Hi. I’m hoping you can help me. I bought this camera based on your review, and since I got it I’ve been in false detection notification Hell. I can’t find a way to turn down the sensitivity. I did some research and others are complaining of the same thing. Do you know if there is a way to fix this? I want to be notified of detections but not false ones. I had the camera stare at a wall, and it still reports false detections.

I had a question about the circle view you might be able to help me with. What’s the difference between the light sensor that shows up for the circle view and a occupancy sensor for say my Netatmo welcome? Thanks so much and keep it coming with HomeKit reviews, they are great!

The light sensor measures the light levels. The occupancy sensor detects presence, similarly to a motion sensor

Can the privacy button on the back not be disabled? If the camera is mounted outside what stops you standard intruder from pushing the button and pinching all you stuff?

No it cannot. But a couple of points. A camera will never stop your stuff from getting stolen. The other point you should always mount a camera out if reach anyway

The biggest oversight here seems to be that they haven't released a waterproof extension. They advertise this for outdoor use but so far don't seem to plan on releasing any accessories.

Different cameras with different capabilities. If you need facial recognition then Netatmo is the one. If you don’t it’s a hard call. However Apple is apparently bringing facial features to Homekit later this year

Hey Jon, Have you continued to use this camera? I'm curious if you've experienced any issues with it connected to an iOS 13 or 14beta hub? In both cases i'm expereincing a lot of missed footage, reports of the camera frequently going offline or just nothing at all. I've tried it both with iOS 14 beta on the Apple TV and iOS 13 on the homepod. Even when set to capture all motion i end up with the same outcome.

No, I did a giveaway with this camera. But I have heard about issues with Circle 2 and Circle View cameras in iOS 14

A simple nice design also.

Any ability to ask Siri to enable the privacy mode? Considering purchasing and mounting high up but really like the privacy mode feature!

No, you cannot. However you can change the settings in the Home App for Homekit Secure Video

Can this be used 24 hours a day?

For what this thing does, it should be 1/4 the price. Unfortunately, there isn't a ton of choice in the HomeKit ecosystem (yet?) If only Wyze added compatibility...

Hi John. As usual a great video however ....... I just bought a Circle View and yes setup and use is really easy. Picture quality however is rubbish. Even in bright daylight the video image is so pixelated that it is difficult to make out people’s faces. Maybe this is how it is supposed to be but it does look like the video has been overly compressed. A 1080p video on my iPhone is lovely so why the difference?

This could be due to the Wi-Fi bandwidth and range. How does it person closer to the router? Do you have lots of Wi-Fi devices?

Great video! A couple of point though. The cable cannot be disconnected because that connection needs to be waterproof. No USB format is waterproof. Also it uses USB-A for cost. The cable only supplies power. Since there is no video signal USB-C is overkill.

My point around USB c is more about putting it through small holes. Image the size of a usb a hole if it had to go through a wall

What other documentation comes inside the box? I got a small paper with very small letters and the guide, but i can’t remember if those two are the only papers it came inside the box or there should be one more(warranty form) Anyone knows? Please help, thanks Ps. In this unboxing i only see the guide paper.

Has anyone got any advice regarding number of cameras added and removed from HomeKit Secure Video.... I added my logi circle 2 cameras (x5) when the beta was first released... had huge recording issues and reverted them back to logi app.... seem was a mix of poor upload speeds my end and HomePod / Apple TV fighting for ASV which now seems fixed. As I’m getting fibre installed tomorrow, Iv started converting back to Apple secure video. But it’s only letting me record 2 cameras, when I add a 3rd it says maximum of 5 has already been reached (I’m running 2tb iCloud plan) it’s almost like the previous converted cameras are still stuck in the system somehow, but not presant. So basically I’m stuck with only 2 camera recording out of 5 and it’s saying I’ve reached my limit. Cameras were removed from home kit when converted and re added back from ASV - logi firmware. Any advice hugely welcome ✌🏼

Have you fully removed them from HomeKit? Also do a reboot of your HomeKit hub

The logic circle 2 with homekit secure video firmware is so buggy, it always misses event. I've ordered the circle view and hope logictech team had done some improvement on it.

I had issues with the Circle 2 in the early days but things seem pretty stable now. The Circle View works great with HSV

Pretty nice camera but it's nearly crippled by HomeKit Secure Video. After coming from Nest, and being a loyal Apple Fanboy, I was shocked to see how bad HSV is. And now I am seriously disappointed to have to go back to Nest.

Logitech are going backwards!! I have Circle 2 cameras! this is a £40 camera at best!!

Good review but this camera is a Non-starter. No local storage, night vision 15 feet, 1080p....not even 2k, all for $160!

HomeKit only supports 1080P. So much like the motion zones, it’s an Apple limitation.

I completely don’t understand why Logitech still uses a USB-A plug for such a cameras, especially when it comes to drilling hole through the wall to supply the camera. This is beyond me... why they haven’t used a USB-C which is a way better choice for this application. Logitech is making laugh of users like sometimes Apple does.

It's bullshit camera cause I can't use it with my family member without a homekit hub. To get homekit hub, I need to buy appletv. The heck?

So who's to blame for the LogiTech Circle View being neutered of features? Is it Logitech being lazy or Apple being idiots?

Why would Logitech limit their market for this product to only iOS users? They only make up about 13% of the mobile phone market. Seems like such an odd limiter to place on the sale of your product.

Bought this is on the recommendation of this channel and Home kit secure vid is rubbish! Why didn’t you point out these issues in iOS 15. I will be relying on Homekit news from now on! Thanks for nothing

This video was over a year ago and not under iOS 15, unfortunately I don’t own a time machine to see into the future. Please don’t buy any of these camera’s. I have two brand new. Doorbell and Circleview. They absolutely SUCK because of their overheating issue’s.
