Hi Wes just dropping a word or two to let you know I am still around and enjoying your video. You have become quite the pro on the mill and despite the hang tree you do a fine job felling. We all hang one once in awhile lol. Must say that garden is booming wish I was able to garden again I miss the fresh garden goodies. Have a blessed day and hope your remodel goes smoothly.

Enjoyed the video, garden is looking great. White oak is great for trailer floors and decks as it is pretty rot resistant. Sweet gum is a good tree for trailer floors too. You should have plenty of those in your area. Keep up the good work.

White oak is one of my favorites, I make wooden dough bowls and white oak is a pleasure to carve! I wish I lived closer to you I would sure like to take a lot of the larger slabs off your hands. Thank you for the time with your sweet family!

I was buying two blades at a time from Wood Mizer at $25 a piece plus $22 shipping. Then you made reference to South East Metals so I checked them out and ended up buying a half box. The savings was fantastic and I'm very pleased with the cut I'm getting. My sawmill is home built, works great but needs tweeking every so often. Thanks for the tip.

4 years ago my friend had a woodland mills hm126, as I recall 144inch blades, and they were $27 each, so you are getting a great deal on what looks to be a decent blade. I would certainly switch if I were you. Keep up the great videos.

Pine offcuts work well for firewood too. Some areas out west that’s all we have for wood. Just burn it dry and hot , never have had creosote buildup.

I enjoy Southern style fried green tomatoes, myself.

I've read and watched videos that cutting off the lower leaves on brussel sprouts after the sprout starts to develop will put more energy in the sprout.

3:03 I had a problem with my prostate a few years ago, that's exactly how my urologist fixed it!

Thanks for turning us on to that blade supplier. Things are getting crazy expensive. Also have you ever considered putting a cheap DRO on to your mill? I stuck one on my Timberking and it's a pretty handy thing for hitting sizes in a repeatable way. Another great video!

Your a good operator w/grapple at your band mill. like chainsaw scabard. looks very handy. Wont be much longer till you can start easin your son into operating tractors & doin other chores. Dont know if I will be around to see that in videos , will be agood watch I am sure . I learned to drive on grandfathers ranch, driving TO-20 & 30 massy ferguson tractors-- cuttin&raking hay for bailin . I early mid 60s. You make a good video

@@falllineridge ...We have tons up here in Ohio...Lots of HOMEMADE Longbows are made of Osage...Maybe you can look up some of those guys that carve it and see if they can send you to a stockpile of it...Also, if you have a long trailer with high sides, you can probably find some in SC or Tenn...Anyway, looking forward to seeing You ACTUALLY cutting your house in half and then building it up...Go nuts on the overbuild...Better overbuilt than underbuilt!! Lol 😂...Shalom!

@@falllineridge Sliced Tomatoes on a plate, Smoked Garlic Granules, Black Pepper and a sprinkle of Malt Vinegar. Leave them in the fridge for an hour before using in Sandwiches or a salad. 😋😋😋

I've considered building a wall in the middle, basically making a two sided shelter for the tractor. But I don't know, other stuff is more pressing right now. I'm sure rain blows in some, but it doesn't seem to be too bad.

Taking a look over at semetals, I see that they have two brands for your saw (158") - going on the price, it appears that you got the Kasco brand, vs. the Simonds brand they also sell. Glad you found blades which are about $10 less expensive per blade vs. the OEM Wood-Mizers. Time will tell - with those prices, it makes it easier to feel good about selling off the sharpening rig you had. Have you seen some folks make their own home-made sharpers for those blades? That would be a fun project for you... if you were ever so motivated and had the time. Two commodities which are in short supply, I'm sure! Thank you for all the great camera angles. Very professional results with your videos and a pleasure to watch! The little guy is growing up so fast! A lovely family... 👍

Nice Video again. Oak dust can provoke cancer, so I would recommend to wear a FFP mask if you saw oak. I'm kind of sorry that I write things like that but I work in a hospital were we only have people with work related sickness. We had too Many woodworker in the past. Since the have to have an air sucking system the number of them trooped significant. I'm also see you wearing chainsaw safety gear, that makes me happy because that wound's do heal well. Sorry if I sound negative. And I hope my English is understandable enough. Greetings from Germany

Question from a non-sawyer... watching you start on that first White Oak, how do you determine how far down to make that first and second cut? Is it based on a dimension or is it just enough to cut into the heart wood or...? Thanks.

It depends on each individual log and imperfections but for basics the intention is to create a useable face just inside the bark. That on average at least 4 inches of surface but better 6 or more. The idea is to get the most out of a log without waste while milling economically.

The aroma of freshly milled white oak is simply delightful. It's great to learn about the alternative blade option and the convenience of Woodbury being nearby. I'm intrigued by the hills and breathtaking views in the south. Do you ever encounter any unique challenges while working with white oak? Keep up the fantastic work! 🌳🪵🌿

Is it just me that finds it ironic / funny that you're saying how good the alternate blades are doing for the sawmill while wearing your "Wodd-Mizer Blades" cap @13:40? Haha, not meant to be mean, I just found it funny and got a laugh out of it. Great work as always Wes.That timber sure does look pretty when you wet it down like that. Seems a shame for it to be made into a trailer bed, I'd love a desk made out of that timber. Cheers.

No, it’s all framing lumber. Plus it doesn’t shrink much lengthwise.

Great video! I've noticed that it seems to be the 'in thing' for many youtubers to make Wood-Mizer look bad. Wood-Mizer is an American company, owned by Christians, so... I'm a sawyer, and I know the complaints and hinted-at problems with the sawmill is exaggerated or even fabricated. The channel Out of the Woods is sometimes entertaining, but one of his videos where he showcases how 'fast' the Wood-Mizer is, he goes *super slow*, and thus misrepresents Wood-Mizer's great product. Pure Living For Life is another who basically misrepresented the sawmill. There are others also. OK, rant over.

Not my intention to make them look bad. This has been a great mill, and their customer service has been great too. My intention was just to show an alternative blade supplier. WM blades are great blades, but if I can get a comparable product cheaper, from another US company, why not?
