Lodge Paella 15in Carbon Steel Skillet Review

The Lodge Paella 15in Carbon Steel Skillet is an absolute must-have for your collection. It's light weight but packs a heavy punch in the kitchen or on the grill. This pan is great for everything from omelettes, paella, stir fries, and even baking. Here is a list of reasons why this Lodge Paella Carbon Steel Skillet was a 5 out of 5 for me:
1. Lightweight
2. High side walls
3. Oversized cool handles
4. Easy to season
5. Washes out with ease
6. Versatile
7. If you catch it on sale like I did, it's a GREAT deal!
Now here is the list of cons for me:
GOOSE EGG
Thats right a big fat ZERO. I couldn't find anything wrong with this carbon steel pan.
Thanks for watching this product review.
*I purchased this pan myself, and I have no affiliation with Lodge.

Awesome to hear. Oddly enough that pan was the reason i bought a Camp CHef Flat top grill. I liked the pan so much I needed more space to cook with and the next best thing was the FTG.I still use my occasionally but I can say I have never been disappointed.

UPDATE Bought this pan for $49.00. Great Choice, I seasoned as you showed then I cooked a pound of bacon and let it season more. Man our eggs slid all over the pan no problems. LOVE THIS PAN. While the pan was still hot I ran it under hot water and scraped of residues rinsed and dried it put a light coat of oil on it, ready for next cook. Steak properly. Thanks for the video and I'm a new subscriber .

Thanks for a great video. I have plenty of cast iron and just started with carbon steel. I first got a CS wok, but have had them before. I do a lot of Asian cooking. Recently I purchased a 9” & 11” Ballarini CS from Target. Love them. My eggs do slide around. Doing research on this pan since I want to make Paella. Thinking about it since I have so many pans......lol. Check out the Ballarini CS pans, they are less pricey than the French and better made than the Lodge skillets.

Yeah man no doubt. I have heard of that brand before but haven't picked one out yet. I actually think I almost bought one at TJMAXX last Christmas but ended up with a crap pan just out of luck which is why my conquest for better pans in the cast iron category. Then low and behold I came across the Lodge Paella pan and fell in love.

The Charcoal King My pan arrived today. It’s a beauty. I did make paella last night in my SS 12” pan and it worked. But I see how nice this pan, so I’m thinking of keeping it. I can’t flip eggs in my small CS pan, this, no doubt I can. Makes many meatballs too....lol.

@@Rob_430 Hey bud, I just used mine again last night haha. We had leftover ribeyes and baked potatoes so I cut the potatoes in cubes and lightly floured them and fried them in the Paella pan. Then I cut up peppers and onions and added those once the potatoes got crispy then added the cubed ribeye to warm up. After all was done I used the same pan and make over easy eggs to place on top. The pan just works great. So many ways to use.

Thanks for showing there is a lot of flexibility in seasoning techniques. You don't have to use flax or grapeseed oils. You can use just about anything as long as you burn it to its smoke point and keep it oiled before and after use. Great vid!

I've had this pan about 4 years or a little less. Pretty good pan. Heating is a bit uneven and the pre-coating is a bit annoying and rougher than it needs to be, but I bought it and use almost exclusively as a moveable pizza steel and for that purpose it's pretty damn amazing. Woodfire, gas stove top, oven broiler - goes between them all and the shallow sloped sides makes dumping pizza out a breeze. No need to mess with peels. Crust not crisp enough... back to the high bottom flame. Good stuff. But for general cooking really not my favorite.

I havent noticed mine warping at all. I honestly have no idea. Its been forever since i have used it. That is literally the reason why I bought a FTG. Still love it but not much use. Typically warping happens with to much heat or drastic changes of heat. That can occur many different ways as well. From the temp of ingredients, cleaning with water, and preheating to high

The Charcoal King Great ! Thanks for getting back to Me so quickly. I’m going to order one right now . Another question and maybe you can make a video on how to clean this pan when it gets really dirty or if there’s cooked on stuff that gets stuck on the pan ? Like how to clean if there’s sugar or cheese that gets stuck on the pan . Thank You again !

  • @TheFlatTopKing

    @TheFlatTopKing

    3 жыл бұрын

Judy Patootie I honestly treat it just like cast iron. Cheese has enough oil to burn and then come off. Tasty if u ask me. 😂 Sugar is a lot harder to deal with. The best way is to deglaze the pan. While your pan is hot enough to boil water but not screaming hot you add about one cup of hot water slowly and scrape the bottom of the pan to remove the burnt sugar. Once sugar cools down it’s a hassle to get off. Season and maintain the same way as cast iron.
