    Super cool that we got too see such a flavorful match with Edgar Markov + Stensia! By the way, can you notify us when you are playing Planechase Commander on the title? That would be helpful for people that both like and dislike it.

    I put it in the thumbnail due to the character limitation in KZread video titles. As it is, most of my titles are just on the cusp of being too long, so adding Planechase often pushes them over.

    Other than what you said in the video. I play Locust God at my LGS and have won a few times with him now. Cut some lands to like 35 and boost those mana rocks up to what you would if it was Breya (10+). You want the ability to cast him turn 3. Low lands sounds bad, but you should have enough wheels to get whatever you need. Generally your opponents don’t want to take a turn off to deal with your threat just yet. Super Secret tech that I don’t see you running is Abjure. Single blue counter any spell, you just have to sacrifice a blue permanent. This lets you sac a locust, or even the locust God so he doesn’t get exiled, so you never pay that tax.

    Mad respect for Josh, not running an overplayed commander, like what everyone else was playing. I will say, if you run a powerful Commander like Locust God, expect the entire table to try and screw you over.

    Do you think that The Locust God and Arjun could be interchangable as the commander? (and Niv-mizzet and Karanos for that matter) I"ve been wanting to build an Izzet commander with a draw theme and can't decide which one. But, they all seem to want to build around similar things.

  • @Zaalbarjedi

    @Zaalbarjedi

    6 жыл бұрын

    Totally not. Locust God is winning you the game on its own if it sticks around. Arjun does nothing but making you unable to rely on your hand, which is extremely bad for control deck. He is good for Locust God's strategy as part of 99 when all you need is to draw cards, no matter what exactly you are drawing, but crap as commander Niv-Mizzet is somewhat similar to God, but relies more on Curiosity-type effects which are not that useful in God deck. Keranos is just izzet heavy control commander. He is not that suitable as a draw theme commander.

    Pet peeve of mine.. I do not like when people put their mana rocks with their lands. I've known people to stack their lands up in a pile too, sometimes mana rocks get missed during board wipes or when deciding targets this way.

    So, I play a lot of Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind (which is a slightly better version of the Locust God). I can echo sentiments about optimising, cutting some lands (as low as 32~33) and going like 10+ rocks (I typically run 10, including very pricey ones) and a lot of wheels. That said, you'll be distilling your deck into a combo+disruption suite. I don't get the sentiment that you guys run a lot of optimised lists (except maybe evil Adam's deck$), so that something to keep in mind when going that route. I don't wanna tell you what to build, but if I could suggest Dig Through Time... it's cheap and works so well with this commander. I noticed you're missing it and that card is so stupidly powerful.

  • @mrf1shie

    Nezard0 Personally I prefer my locust god deck to the Niv-mizzet deck I converted it from. While I agree the Niv-mizzet deck can be a more powerful combo deck I think if you're not optimizing for an early combo the 'fair' locust god deck is better as it actually gives you some creatures to play with. Maybe it's my meta but I found that I was getting trounced by 'grave pact' decks, or any creature based strategy with niv if I didn't immediately combo off.

    As someone who plays the Locust god, giving him a turn can be pretty dangerous depending on how synergistic you build the deck. So in all fairness, its not that unwarranted to clentch a bit when he sees the battlefield. At the same time, Kevin made some...impulsive control decisions.
