16:38 I wish I could show you guys just how true this was. I'm an addict, luckily I have 2 years clean, 1 of those years spent in treatment. I can't tell you how many people I've seen talk, and talk, and talk. Some of those people even belittled me in groups, and tried to give me advice and were worried about if I could stay sober or not. Well, out of 12 people in our house, 1 ODed and is dead and the rest relapsed, some are in prison and some got out and are right back in the same treatment house. You start talking when you got something to share. The only reason people talk that "treatment talk" so much is because they're trying to convince themselves and others that they're going to stay sober. If you're going to actually be sober, you know deep down it's over and you know it's time to listen and learn, not talk and lie.. I can't explain it, unless you've lived it. Some people reach a crescendo in their life where they physically and emotionally cannot and will not take anymore.

You are 100000000% correct. This is a fact. I was an addict for almost 30 years & I tried & tried to get clean countless times, but I always went back. I loved the streets. The trap house was my home. I literally had my own room there. 2 of the houses burned down & the few belongings I had went with it. Luckily, I wasn't home, but I did lose 2 close friends in the fires. Yet still, i returned. The help the Red Cross gave was incredible, but of course, the money & gift cards they gave were just a bonus to buy dope. I got pneumonia, lost 78 pds in 6 days, & was almost dead in the basement of a trap. Someone finally called an ambulance & it took 4 weeks in the hospital on machines n meds. Yet the second i got out, I went right back to the trap. Then i went to jail & was forced to get clean. When i got past the withdrawal, that time my mind was set. I was done & I knew it this time. Now it's been 2 & a half years, im clean, sober have a beautiful fiancee, a real home & a job making almost 100k a year. And most of all, my life. Like you said, this time deep down with everything in me, I knew i was done. You couldn't force me to do dope anymore. If you're an addict you have to want it b4 u do it bc if u do, u will succeed. Be proud ur sober. It's amazing, but you're 💯 correct.

I agree! One is not gonna quit until THEY are ready. Instead of doing all blabbing they will be the quiet ones bc they are busy doing something extremely important, listening. Thats issues with some people, they wont shut their mouth long enough to learn something. I am not an addict with legal drugs but I did have issues with alcohol and I am now 12 months sober. I tried quitting a few times but never made it a couple months bc i would always end up craving a stiff drink. This last time since I got sober, I have not craved alcohol not 1 time. I dont ever plan to drink anymore. Sober life is the best life. If most ppl knew how awesome it was to get sober and remain sober, i think more ppl want it enough to actually stay sober. Btw, I am happy for you on your sobriety. Whenever sobriety starts, life goes up from there.

12:00 It’s sad when women (and even men) choose a life as basically a sex slave because the pimps control EVRYTHING: when they eat, how they look, all of the money they earn from THEIR bodies. You wonder “why would someone ever work for a cruel asshole pimp and slave themselves like that?” but the sad answer is that usually it stems from horrible childhoods/trauma and getting no opportunity to escape, and also falling in with the wrong crowd and becoming addicted to drugs (which literally don’t give u happiness for long so every ex-addict will always say it’s not worth it, even the comedian Joey Diaz who was a professional thief and addict). So this rehab program to not only escape those abusive pimps but also get rehab and therapy (teaching them to break the cycle of abuse and choose true LONGTERM happiness) is a great step. Not everyone may complete it but it’s a chance and some may take that second chance that they deserve.

I feel bad that these women are on video for this. It’s a permanent reflection of things they’ve done. Sometimes forgetting those things and moving on is a healthy thing but with a reminder like this, it’s gotta be hard. I actually hope they never see it. I know there will be people who will disagree with me and think that it will help to remind them not to go back but this is shame on video. I would hate it.

Ms. Cammie is poor excuse for a rehab . counselor. She's in recovery herself. Ms. Cammie does hold the woman accountable in the group. Not a good idea to lead a group. I guess they want to lead by example.

I don’t wanna come off as disrespectful to your comment cuz I don’t know where it’s coming from, but from my own experience with addiction, ANY help toward recovery is useful. Like any type of help, you have to gauge the effectiveness of that help for yourself.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You don't know what it's like to be an addict. Neither do I. So how can anyone who hasn't been where these folks have been really get thru to them? You need to mind the business that pays you

Personally, I find it hard to listen to advice/help from people who have never experienced addiction. You can learn a lot from books, but if you've never lived it, you'll never truly understand. The majority of rehab and addiction counselors are in recovery. It's not a bad thing at all. It helps them help others.

"She's in recovery herself" spoken by someone who doesn't understand anything about addiction. I'm 2 years clean and I'd rather listen to someone in the program versus some outsider with a degree that's never struggled with addiction. I do agree she could have held them more accountable.

This may be mean to say but she’s too far gone- everyone deserves two if not 3 chances and she’s proven to run away each time. Now when her liver’s failing she needs help, but if she gets that liver replaced what then? She doesn’t have the fight in her eyes: she’s just gonna ruin that new liver. People deserve second chances but when they refuse to think and listen and just keep taking, at one point everyone’s going to stop giving. Because why should they continue to put in the work FOR you when you don’t want it yourself. Selena on the other hand finally owns up and faces her problems and fights her way to the halfway house and looks renewed. She earned it.

lmfao have u ever been to jail? I've seen COs watching football games and literally sitting on their asses with their phones and ignoring any inmate request for hours on end. We usually only see some shifts maybe 3 times in 8 hours. Once when they get there, once for chow and once when they're about to go. In reality, they should at least be doing rounds every 30mins to an hour but that would require effort. So what's the point of physical fitness when you don't have to do anything?

I have been to prison twice and have been in and out of the Cook County Jail several times. In Cook I was appart of the psych deck and then their DIV 17 rehab program/that specializes in prostitutin program as well. It is a 4 month program but you have to wait about 40 days to get in the program which is dead time not counted. The stories I have heard from the Women in the progran and even those in prison are rife with women usually WOC that have been through some real truama. i always felt bad because my truama was no where what they went through and I actually had a good begining in life. A lot of women in prison have had it tough and the system was clearly systemically racist. whites that commit the same crime of their black counterpart made it real obvious. anyways I have heard some of the most henious truma some women endured.
