When they showed their darker sides all zoomed out, Bach appeared at a significant desync, while the brighter side was almost identically flicking. What an ingenious way to show the difference between offbeat and swing beat.

@TheRamblingSoul The off-beat is halfway between one regular beat and the next. If the music goes *don...don...don...don,* playing *pa* on the off-beat sounds like *don-pa-don-pa-don-pa-don-pa.* The swing beat is like the off-beat but later. If you play *pa* on the swing beat, it sounds a bit like a heartbeat: *don..padon..padon..padon..pa.*

hold on a sec. lockstep 2 does the thing like in the Japanese version where the screen gets darker to signal the change, but it's the English version.

Yeah the Rhythm Tengoku Gold actually has Lockstep have a darker purple on the offbeats but on the english release this change to darker pink. Its subtle but its there. This also applies for Lockstep 2. Interesingly on Megamix on all regions release, they kept the original Japanese coloring intact.

One of my all-time favorites!

This minigame is a lot trippier than I remembered it being

I imagine there is a war between the blue and pink ones and they try to dance/march/whatever better than each other

cant wait for someone to do the lockstep challenge but instead of just the second lockstep 2 playing its lockstep 1 and 2 at the same time

So smart. This is awesome!

Actually, in the ds version you can get barelys because in megamix the time to get a hit was lengthened to a barely on the ds, so this would be a perfect in megamix too.

If you need help on this minigame, would recommend listening fort he hai-hai-hai-haHAH and following the haHAH perfectly, if you can keep a 4 beat it lets you transition really easily

i know lockstep 2 is just a slowed down version of the original but now it seems like lockstep 2 is just normal

At 0:13 If you slow it down to 0.75 Speed it sounds like gwen Stefani’s Sweet Escape a bit at the beginning

That's Johann Sebastian Bach, a German composer and musician from the late 1600s. His portrait (or rather, a goofy portrait of him) is in these minigames. I honestly have no idea why but it's really funny.

at 1:36 if you pause you can see a silhouette of a different woman on both sides in the crowds
