Great job during the class and I'm glad you enjoyed the potato! No measuring devices were harmed while I set it up, because none were used. ;-) Simulating the unpredictability of the street in a safe environment for practice was the main goal.

I'm thinking about doing 101 and 102, just to see what they teach and how they teach it. You met me at Rob's celebration (VA ambassador) and I learned all this 25 years ago in police motor school and still practice these techniques on my own and doing a yearly in-service training school at work. I did Rob's the first time just to see what he teaches and that plus L&L are opportunities to practice and that's not a bad thing ever. I'm with you on the rodeos, they are fun and I love riding courses as an officer, but my love lies in touring. There's just too much to see out there in this country on a bike to spend two or three days in a parking lot riding cones. (Not a shot at those who do, there's something in motorcycling for everyone)

@chumps7974

I think my right u-turn isn't as good because my right foot is covering the break and I don't feel as balanced. I definitely need to practice more
Great video, that looks like it is very very hard on your bike.
@RidingandWrenching

I don't think so. My Road Glide has over 80,000 miles and I haven't had any issues with it due to slow speed riding. I have 12,000 miles on the Street Glide that you see in this video. This training is important to me because it's helping me to develop skills that can save me if I get in trouble. It also helps me make better decisions for modifying my motorcycle with accessories.

I decided to use my Street Glide for cone work and practice since it has a smaller fairing. I have done practice sessions with Robert Simmons on the Road Glide and I can whip it around pretty good too. I find the Street Glide easier to manage though. I use my RG for long distance riding. It's a more comfortable bike

Cue .., After completing the course did you change your seating position to a more up front position then lay back when you ride now ??
@RidingandWrenching
Жыл бұрын
There is a big advantage to sitting upright and forward when doing technical maneuvers. However, that is not the most comfortable position for long distance riding....I definitely sit back and lean into my backrest on the road.
Does the police make a difference?
@RidingandWrenching
Жыл бұрын
The police seat helps me sit forward on the bike. I also find that the higher seating position helps control the bike too, however you can ride with a stock seat. I believe every rider had a police seat at the class
Clutch killing maneuvers...
@RidingandWrenching
Жыл бұрын
It's about being a safe rider. In real world riding, you are going to operate for brief moments in the friction zone. That's the way the bikes are designed to operate. We can't let a fear of damaging the bike keep us from improving our skills.
@KenGrant_LockandLean
Жыл бұрын
When done correctly there is little reason for concern. I've been doing this type of riding for six years and I have yet to change a clutch. But, the clutch is a wear item, just like brake pads and tires. The only way to not have wear is to not ride the motorcycle.
