Record-breaking snowfall continues to batter various cities in northern China. It has snowed for more than 46 hours in Inner Mongolia, blocking the doors to many residents’ houses. The bad weather also caused a traffic jam of over 3km in Heilongjiang province.

    I remember when my girls were little and we talked about different countries and weather and it absolutely shocked them that there were people who’d never seen snow! We got 11” last night 😂. Then rain so it’s really heavy and wet. Perfect snow for building forts and snowmen though!

    Heavy snow is no joke for old people. My former-landlord was a lady in her 60s originally from northeast China but who now lives in Suzhou, Jiangsu. She told me she won't ever return to live in her hometown because of the long, harsh winters.

    I lived in northern China for a while and i actually really enjoyed the winters there. As a kid it’s super fun. Though we did often have lots of traffic jams on snowy mornings, but i never minded having more time to chill with my brothers in the car before school haha

    Actually it's due to China being blocked from receiving any foreign trade because of what occurred with the pandemic and not taking fault for it, the US and several other countries put a long hold on giving china any food because they denied releasing the virus and causing the pandemic by allowing their people to travel to other countries knowing that they had a major problem in their country.

    snow can become compact and very hard like ice/stone, but in very cold windy conditions it can actually become sharp, I've been walking in snow storms before and actually has a sort of very light "road rash" on any exposed skin from the ice crystals hitting and scratching my skin =/

    No india isn't too hot for most of the regions as we go south towards equator it do get hot but the southern part recieves more than enough monsoon rainfall too....and yes it is the Himalayas which really protect us from winds coming from torrid region or it would b just the same as above here too.

    81 cm is only alittle over 2'7" that's not that big of a blizzard. If it's covering doorways either its way higher or there's some really intense wind creating 7 ft. snow drifts

    It was also cold last year. I had to stop cycling because my hands were frozen, my gloves were useless, and the wind stabbed me in the chest like a knife.     @@qwerty-vp1sb Anhui is like a bit south to Beijing and Hebei, on the edge of Northern plains, it's altitude is similar to southern Kyushu, but due to cold front from Siberia even places like this can be colder than say Germany and Denmark. While much hotter than all these places in summer.

    В то же самое время на Сахалине, Камчатке и вообще просто на левом берегу амура на такие снегопады даже внимания не обращают. Ну выпал снежок и выпал, подумаешь 83 сантиметра. Если сразу и вовремя чистить, то проблем нет.

    These extreme weathers are manifestation of climate changes. Extreme cold winter and scotching heat summers. You don’t want mass crop failures. That is gonna be a big problem.

    More snow is also a consequence of warmer air temperatures in some regions. In the context of global warming that sounds paradoxical, but actually its not: Warmer air can hold more moisture, which eventually precipitates as snow, when the humid air is transported northwards and cools, leading to more severe extreme weather conditions like seen in the video. More snow ≠ colder temperatures

    I've seen pictures of snowfall in Maine that reached high levels, about eight to ten feet - practically blocking entrances to shops and restaurants - but THIS puts said snow accumulation to shame! Still, it's nice to see people putting skiing gear to practical use.

    Heavy snowfalls in areas not accustomed to those always turn in catastrophes . We had to face this a few years ago and I lost some trees, other had problems with collapsing roofs and all in all heavy disturbances for logistics and transportation infrastructures, loss of electric power and so on. Climate change is no fun.

    It happened in texas too, except everyone laughed at us saying how its "a little snow " when it was literally record breaking snowfall and record breaking temperatures in decades and in some places centuries, and on top of that all news stations had said it was gonna be 70's and they "miscalculated" and we ended up in 6 foot snow in -5 weather with no power, it was just so terrible and bad

    @@trainmanrobbie3360 I agree with the lake effect. Lake Ontario can bring winter heavy to some area's the lake covers. I'm directly at the lake. Maybe a 3 minute walk. But we will never get snow falls like some parts of the globe. China gets it heavy! I remember the 90s when we got much snow. But i can't say that I've had my car covered in cm of snow or my house locked in

    @@chrisrosch4731 This is happening because of the polar vortex being disrupted because of changing temperature in the artic. It also explains the extreme cold weather in texas in February this year. It pushes artic winds southward to areas that don't usually get as colder weather, or makes it much colder in areas that already have cold winters.
