I had a friend who was arrested in Ca. He was taken out of his hotel room and taken to jail based on a warrant. He had the same name as a suspect but was 20 years older, 30 lbs lighter, 8" shorter, and of a different race. Police did not check any of those things during the arrest. He went to jail, had his property seized, and lost work time. When the mistake was discovered, the police did not apologize, help him get his property back, or do anything to rectify the situation. They continued to treat him like a criminal. I am not sure what can be done to protect citizens from this but if there is something, I hope this lady's lawsuit helps bring that about.

@@geoh7777 That definitely is the problem with police forcers these days. Most strait out of high school, and no secondary education. They do not even go into proper police training to check and double check. Yes, checking is time consuming, but also very necessary. How a carpenter puts it.. Measure twice and cut once to avoid hassles down the road. The police do not use this logic. There would be so much less problems with them if they were taught to use their brains. I can hardly believe they were looking for a woman with short hair so they arrested a woman with long hair. I expect something this insane from a SNL skit. The woman says she informed TSA officers that she had never been to Texas, was not wanted for any crime there, and repeatedly asked to have her identity checked. Eventually, LAPD and/or L.A. Airport Police officers put her under arrest "without confirming her identity or checking her driver's license," the suit alleges. An LAPD spokesperson said the agency does not comment on pending litigation. Farber and the wanted woman -- also named Bethany Farber -- "had nothing in common besides their name. (The plaintiff) is a young woman with long, blonde hair, while the other woman is older with short brown hair," according to the complaint. Farber was booked by LAPD, her photo and fingerprint information taken, then she was put behind bars for the next 13 days at the Los Angeles County women's jail in Lynwood -- until the blunder was revealed and she was released, according to the suit, which names the LAPD and the Airport Police among defendants. ------------------------ Her family hired lawyers in Texas and Los Angeles, and she proved her innocence by showing a cell phone GPS indicating that Farber was in California the day another woman committed a crime in Texas. ...her lawyer Rodney Diggs told a news conference. conference on Tuesday. Diggs also told Fox 11, “They could look at birthdays, fingerprints, Social Security numbers.” Farber was carrying his passport at the time. Farber’s lawyer also said that Texas had told the LAPD that the wrong Farber was in custody for three days before his release.

it is NOT "mistaken identity", when you fail to do such basic police work, what is the point of ID's, social, ect if police just disregard it, This is nothing but KIDNAPPING

It is ALWAYS any of us, random, and can be any of us at any time. They don't care about law & order. They only care about showing us who's supposedly the boss, brutality and puffed up egos. They're twisted by the job and can't keep their heads on straight, i.e., treat innocent & unarmed people like, well, people. We are just cattle to them. It's a psychological/nucking futs thing, re: Zimbardo's "Stanford Prison Experiment" (misags? = may i suggest a Google search?)

Simple, they don't get any compensation if they are lucky enough to be released. The authorities might decide that one black person is as good as any other so it really doesn't matter if they have the wrong person.

I was falsely arrested before. It's humiliating. As I was sitting on the curb in cuffs, I could see it in the officer's faces he kept calling more officers up and telling them what the situation was and you could see it in their faces they knew they were messing up. But cops are assholes like that. Once they start, it's impossible for them to just apologize admit they made a mistake and coffee and let you be on your way. They got to take it all the way to the Max and then sort out their mistake later. Then they wonder why everybody hates them. Always remember people cops first job isn't the serving protect look it up in the history books that's not why the police force was banned. The police force was originally constructed to find citizens and collect revenue for the state. That is why cops spend more time on marijuana and traffic violations then they do on murders and rapists
