Buyers beware, getting reconstruction/ planning permission is a total nightmare in Lanjarón. Almost a year has gone by and the excuses keep coming, the latest being a New Technical architect in the Town hall, delaying everyone applications. Not forgetting architects fees are very expensive compared to the UK so factor that in your costs. All blamed on the bureaucracy.

Totally agree with you there Stephen. The process can be super slow and teechnical, one false move and its right back to the beginning. Its vital to use a professionl agaent to purchae who can advise you on the realites of timescales and what is required for any work that a buyer might want to do. It can be a minefield without the correct advice!!

@@holaproperties Thanks for the reply, like many English buyers with building skills and a dream to find “a doer upper”, have their dream bused. Even when you think you’ve employed an highly recommended architect, this is no guarantee speedy progress. Then again in Spain there appears to be no concept of positive action. What is initially is a quant quality and relaxed lifestyle became tiresome. Also people forget that they remain liable for local community charge and government taxes even those they have no use of the property or the local amenities. I did question whether the lack of action was because of the bad reputation of the English, that somehow we are all the same and have more money than sense. Well we are not and just want a better and peaceful life.

@@stephenhalsall6580 The biggest problem is often that what is a "quick" timescale in the UK, is very different here in Spain. The cultural differences are quite significant! At least there are currently no additional council tax charges for second properties like there are in many parts of the UK. IF we can help in any way, just let us know, The Spanish often do things in a very different way here!
