Same. Shot is the freaking worst. Problem is, my surgeon didnt properly numbbed my damn toe completely which made me suffer the whole process. Poor me aint blessed woth balls of steel hahahaha

@@pilotjayden the doctor successfully removed my ingrown nail 3 weeks ago , but I think he damaged my nerve because I can no longer feel the tip of my big toe.

The shot is terrible

Literally just had this done today and what an experience it was to be fair wish I had done it along time ago now. I've been in pain for years with my toes but I finally got 1 toenail removed today. The needle wasn't as bad as I thought but it's the anaesthetic that stings but apart from that it went numb instantly. I actually tuck my toenail home with me to freak my mother out 😆 I can't wait to actually get my wright one done in six weeks or so. 👍 but for anyone who's apprehensive don't be as uts all worth it in the end

May I ask you a few questions? here are the following questions I would like to ask: 1) is it normal to feel soreness around the surgical toe? 2) I dunno why but my left leg which happens to be the toe I got my surgery done feels weak. I’m basically kinda limping on my left leg while walking. My knee and thigh area feels weak too. The thing is I wanna try and walk like normal but I’m scared if I walked normally, there will be a feeling of pain and who knows it might pressure the toe too so for now I’m kinda like limping on my left leg. That’s about it as for the questions that I wanted to ask. Sorry if it’s too long🙏🏻

It hurts a whole lot. I dropped a block on my big toe and they had to remove the toe nail. When I received the shots one went on the outside of my toe and the other right straight in between the big toe and the next toe, painful ain't even haft of it. The problem was I had to have this repeated a week or so later as my Toe swelled up like Fred Flintstone when he smashed his finger, they had to do this again so that they could make a slice in the bottom of my toe to relive pressure. It's funny how it always seems like they're driving the needle into your bone like the dentist does rather than finding a soft spot to inject. I would rather they had numbed my whole foot, at least then they could have found a soft spot to inject.

I had to have this done today, and it does hurt a lot. But just suffer through it because it’s worth it. I didn’t feel a thing when they removed the nail

I’m getting this procedure for both of my big toes tomorrow! I’ve had it done before but I’m still very nervous because I have to do both. If anyone has breathing tips for when they do this, please comment them! I have very bad anxiety and last time I did this procedure I started hyperventilating and needed my inhaler. I know I’m a little dramatic about stuff like that but that shot hurts! Wish me luck! 😬😭

I watched this video a couple years ago while deployed with the PA and his assistant that was going to do the operation. She put the needle all the way through my toe 😂

Always pull plunger back to check whether you are in the tissue or vessel

Yes, and for digits it is easier to constantly keep moving the needle depth when administering the local to make sure you aren’t delivering into a vessel (even though they are tiny vessels in the digits). Good advice!

Ask for cold spray. I am a fucking wimp with needles and the spray eliminates about 96% of the pain. Highly recommend

I did it yesterday and it’s not that bad the pain is 5/10 the only thing that hurts is the needle but it mostly stings then your leg will be bummed then they will do the cutting which I did not feel because it’s named then your done I was crying I don’t wanna go I thought they will chop my toe off and yeah I never knew I was doing this till yesterday night my auntie told my mom I have to do it (she knows because she is a doctor) her friend did it for me because their a doctor and good I did not cry ❤

I had an infection and went to the er omg this was the worst the first shot I couldn't believe the pain after that I couldn't fell the 2nd shot then it was painless

Did you do the lateral side first or medial?

If you’re going to get this procedure done, ASK FOR COLD SPRAY. It doesn’t hurt one bit… instead it feels like a spa lol

Is it a IV or IM injection

It hurts for about 3-5 mins and then just lay back and relax it only takes about 5-10 mins for a ingrown removal

This part wasn't so bad. It was the removal process because even if its numb you can still slightly feel the tearing of the toenail being separate from the skin and it can burn and sting a few times. The shot wasn't so bad it was only bad when It was applied to the tip of my toe. To prevent having to go into the doctor what you should do if you get an ingrown toenail is get a piece of cotton and a toothpick and shove a tiny piece of cotton under the ingrown toenail. This not only eliminates most of the pain but it elevated the toenail upwards and encourages the growth of the nail to grow upwards instead of down further and further. However if it looks like by this poor patient its best to get it removed.

Urallnoobsss I’m 13 now but I was 12 when I got mine and the needle did sting, but VERY little and only for like 5 seconds. It’s easily manageable. Many people I know didn’t even feel the needle or the burn.

Envic You can use Emla cream (local anaesthetic cream) from a pharmacy/Chemist. Rub it on the spot and leave covered for about an hour with plastic wrap. It will numb the skin and help a lot. Video down this page a little: shoesfeetgear.com.au/pages/ingrown-nail-treatments

I thought I could handle this just because my podiatrist clipped 1/3 of my toe without anesthesia and I didnt say a peep. I have to get it completely removed tomorrow and the comments have me scared😂 Update: I was given 8 shots because the numbing wasn’t doing much lol. It wasn’t that bad because she had sprayed cold freeze, but wow was the actual removal painful😭

It seems you’re using a standard syringe. Should you not aspirate before injecting to make sure you’re not in a vessel?

whocares643 Hi, when injecting in this spot the vessels are very small and by constantly moving the needle avoids injecting the local into a vessel. This constant small movement keeps it nice and safe and also increases the chance of ‘bathing’ the digital nerve you are aiming for in the local to get the block. Good query though!

Never keep your finger under a toe when injecting

@@penlipe this is actually crazy timing bc i just got it done today for the second time bc the nail grew back ingrown lol. but today when i went the needle didn’t hurt for the most part, the doctor used like a freeze spray that made the needle not hurt when it went in, but towards the end they go through the nerve or something i think but that’s the only part you feel a pinch or burn sensation, so mostly it’s painless, just kinda uncomfortable. after the numbing is done tho the rest is easy u don’t feel nothing

Hi Narendra, we don’t add adrenaline for digits as the constriction will cut off blood flow to the digit for too long and would be dangerous. Just 1% lignocaine or 2% if there is significant inflammation. I hope this helps! Pete
