Local 1940’s Weekend: 1940’s Weapons, Vehicles, Uniforms, Lancaster Bomber Fly Past

I’ve been to a local 1940’s Weekend at Melton Mowbray today: Lots of 1940’s Weapons, Vehicles, Uniforms, and a Spitfire Replica on display. Thought it might be interesting for us Bolt Action modellers to see the real things. Fantastic to see a Lancaster Bomber Fly Past too.
It was great seeing and holding some of the weapons used, particularly nice to see some British Airborne kit too including a PIAT. Hope it’s of some of you😉

I would have loved to have been there and seen everything. I would have been like a kid in a sweet shop as my brothers in the UK would say. The Lancaster bomber flyover I know was an amazing spectacle in itself. I know it was amazing to see all the different weaponry and vehicles the you paint on a scale in real life and life sized. Take care and I hope you have an amazing week and you enjoy yourself every day.

I seen the Model 1917 19:35 with the warning bands painted on it's stock and knew right away what it was. After a few accidents when us Americans started to give them to the UK the UK started to paint those red bands on all the US weapons to denote 30-06 over the very similar Pattern 14 and it's .303 British rounds and chambers. In fact even the M-1 Garands have those same bands that was also bought and gave to the UK during the war.

Thanks for the info Chris, we’ll spotted. I was like a kid in a sweet shop seeing everything, so didn’t take it all in so I’ve been watching this video again myself to look at things more. Thanks for watching and sharing the info, much appreciated 👍🏻

@@TheGreatMim I do WWI reenacting in the states so I know exactly how everyone there felt. Look up Great War Association or WWI Newville Pennsylvania and you get to see what we do on our very own land and trench system
