During my trip to Mombasa, we took a day trip to Malindi with the crew from Coast Camping (coastcamping.co.ke/). They offer off the beaten path tours around Mombasa and coastal Kenya. In this video, I didn’t pay for the tour, but I did pay for most of the food we ate on this tour. Thank you to Coast Camping for hosting me, and for being so cool!
We first drove from Mombasa to Malindi, and before doing anything else, we stopped for a local breakfast. I enjoyed some mbaazi, which are pigeon peas in coconut milk, and a delicious Kenyan goat soup. Breakfast was excellent, and the perfect way to begin the day.
One of the signature trips that Coast Camping takes is to the Malindi marine park to a sand bar, to go swimming and to bbq lobster on the sand bar. Unfortunately when we got there, the tide didn’t cooperate with us, so it was too high to get out on the sand bar, but the water was still incredibly beautiful and pristine - we just couldn’t bbq there. So we continued to the shore where they set up the grill and we grilled fish and lobster in on the beach with the incredible Indian Ocean sea breeze. We ate on the boat. The food was delicious, and I especially enjoyed the rice with prawns curry that was pre-cooked. Lobster and moon fish was also excellent!
Halwa Asli - Back in Malindi town, one of the must eat foods halwa, a sweet that common throughout Arabia and India. This version was made with starch and sugar, and then cooked and simmered until it turned into a sticky paste. It was very sweet, but a few bites were great.
We also stopped for one of the best Kenyan street food dishes to eat - a mix of bhajias and fried things, topped in chutney, with signature Malindi cassava and mango sauce.
Vipingo Nyama Choma Mishkaki - On our way back driving from Malindi to Mombasa we stopped to eat mishkaki at a legendary meat spot. The meat was so good, especially when dipped in the kachumbari of tomatoes, onions, and chili sauce.
Price - 2,000 KES ($19.65) for everyone
It was an incredible day on the coast of Kenya, beautiful scenery, and incredible Kenyan food! Again, huge thank you to Coast Camping Tours & Safaris: coastcamping.co.ke/

Love this African series. The true star of this channel is Ying. Hats off to u. Behind the scenes CARRYING micah most of the time, nursing him, just the fact of travelling with a toddler to so many countries and still helping mark out with videoing and behind the scenes work and still always having a smile on ur face! . U the best. U've earned it.

That is normal if a mother take care of their baby, nothing special she does. Like millions of other good moms....anyway she don't have anything else to do, really hard life!!! And don't get me wrong, I like them all, they are normal people, but don't make them God cause they do what is actually normal everyday life for others as well.

Though Marks video is spectacular and rather inspiring. Mark and Ying are always taking a risk almost constantly while traveling to unknown regions and meeting strangers. She is no regular mom, and he is no regular dad (That's a fact). I'm almost sure that they have encountered some crazy and possibly life-threatening moments that he will never post on his video. Because he's just that kind of guy. He focuses on the positive and leaves out the negative. God bless the Wiens Family and safe trips, and God bless you Lakat. (I mean that sincerely)

@@YH-AR The irony and I'll dare say the conundrum to your statement is that depending on where you (us...anyone)... Lives...you have the SAME SH#T. Albeit may be a bit more jarring in unfamilar territory. My point is you can stay HOME and still encounter positives and negatives. I have a a strong feeling that Mark & Family probably encounter much more positives than negatives because their energy to ALL cultures is so respectful, open and understanding. I'm sure they have learned how not to get played whilst abroad.

There is so much packed into this episode, but the bit that really lept out at me was the gent who "said his piece." Wow, there are layers of messages contained here. Western world - wake up and understand the worth of humanity! As he mentioned he works as a guide/translator, I'm sure part of that was a legitimate plug for tourists to come. But I also heard "give us the dignity of acknowledging we are here... we may be low tech, but have a cohesive culture and society. We too have ideas." If anyone in Kenya could pass this back to him, tell him many of us are awakening. We are listening. We care. Diversity is beautiful, valuable, and critical to our collective survival. The food looks pretty good, too! Thank you again, Mark.

"If I look harder enough I can find someone or something that will validate my view of an entire group of people" but I don't think that means the stereotype has "truth" to it... It's still just a stereotype 🤷🏾‍♂️ and stereotypes are lazy and almost by definition inaccurate... But if you want to hold onto the idea that stereotypes are truths, ok ✌🏾, but I would ask yourself why you want to hold onto that idea 🤔... Either way... She was saying he is eliminating stereotypes, and stereotypes area views and ideas people have about other people or things. Soooo even IF stereotypes contain truth, eliminating stereotypes is still a good thing and can be done and should be done...

Growing up they only showed the poorest parts of Africa and made it see like no vegetables grow and no one fishes or has any food. Now we see how friendly and welcoming they are and that they’re food is way better than ours and there natural water supply is way cleaner than any water I ever lived around. I wish everyone could be as loving as he seems to be. I literally FORGET that this is a KZread video until the end, when he says to sub, like, comment, etc. The quality is such that it's like watching TV! Plus, I'm constantly learning about other cultures. Incredible!!

Because every food he comes across is “ooh this is the best thing I’ve ever tasted.” I’ve never actually seen him say he doesn’t like something. Maybe he just likes to eat everything. But it’s always the same “oh yea~” + over the top expressions of satisfaction + comment on the taste and texture. I’m bothered by it after seeing it for the 12th time straight. If it’s the sAme reaction every time, it kind of confuses me on whether the food actually tastes as good as he says.
