Awesome video! It's cool to see how grain cars are actually loaded.
Cool to see. Thanks for sharing!
Does the fall protection actually keep you suspended in the air if you slip off the car or does it slowly lower you to the ground so you don't get hurt? Do you have to worry about dust explosions while working around cars like that? About how long does it take to load a rail car and how does the loader know when to stop filling the car? Do they just look and see when it is full or does each car get a specific measured weight of corn loaded? How do you advance the string of cars? Do you have a cable pull that moves the string forward as you fill them or do you use a small trackmobile?
Excellent video!
Very interesting,! Thanks for taking the time to let us come aboard....
Thanks for sharing! Stay warm!
Cool video, thanks for sharing this with us!
Oh yeah, that`s what I`m talking about. I like this video! Thanks man.
Really enjoyed your video, thanks and Happy New Year.
Nice video. Just a tip for stowing your SRL: you should use a short rope tag line on the snap hook so the cable fully retracts into the SRL body when not in use. It'll prevent corn dust from accumulating on the extended cable and getting inside the body and potentially fowling up the inner workings.

Thanks for watching! You are correct, we stow them with a rope so they are fully retracted when we are done using.
Cool shit man couldn’t see how this works otherwise! Thanks! 😊
How many cars ,? 100 ? How long do they give you to get them all filled
How is the Power controlled to advance the cars? It's not like coal where it's set at something like 2 mph. It's more like stop/start here.

That's a cool demonstration 👍. There's no way I could walk on those narrow walks without tripping and losing balance. Have you ever fallen? How far do you fall with the cable on? Thanks for sharing 👍

I watched this and thought back to the earlier days of railroads before air brakes, when a brakeman had to walk those walks on freight car tops, on a moving train, in freezing weather, to set the brakes manually using a brake wheel club.
Is corn the only grain loaded into the railroad hoppers at your location?
@Plattipus

We do corn and soybeans, wheat normally is trucked out of our location too .
2:17 what's the purpose of that little side tube? it looks like it's shooting out a small bit of grain every now and then. Is it like a drain system?

Overflow/surplus grain from the sampler (for grading) being returned
Wow that is really cool. You must I'm doing that. I would love to have that job
What is the hose on the side of the main grain chute for?
@Plattipus

A portion of the corn is separated and graded and the remainder is sent back through that tube
Hi, nice video & interesting to see how this is done. How long does it take to load a grain car & is there any prep work before loading can begin?
@Plattipus

Hey homie, are you able to talk about the rail strikes and how that may effect what you do in the shipping industry and things we should probably look out for?
Hi. Does the feeder have some sensor of grain? To stop feeding.
@Plattipus

Yes everything is pre weighed before it goes into the car, and is controlled by a switch to stop the flow when needed

@@Plattipus So these are only three pre-weighed doses per every rail car, am I right? kzread.info/dash/bejne/iqWI28uohdaboaQ.html
