Very open ended question. there are a lot of cranes that may be able to do the job. Looks like you will be at a low boom angle so it's going to take a large capacity mobile crane to pick 115t. You should see if you can get some assistance from an engineer in your area. As a side bar, the grove crane in the video should not, could not, make a 115 ton lift. Good luck.

There is no Mode A or B in the Grove TLL charts. Are you using a Link Belt RT? What crane are you using?

Grove {TLL }...theoretically,if you have a 15 ton block,1 sheave, w /2 parts line ,w/ 70 ft boom ,50 ft. radius, 7,800 lb. removable C.W., aux boom head,no extension, 7.5 ton ball w/10 ft below tip...now here is the question...since line pull on this is 12,920 and max load cap is 11,450,should I deduct , the 2nd part of that line on the 15 t block ...which was 50 ft from ground to tip ? 2nd question ....lets say Im at 110 ft of boom at 80 ft radius , and have the 32 boom ext. erected and the 35 -110 boom , my gross cap there would be 4,740 do I deduct the 4,250 for boom w/ jib erected from the chart of load handling devices leaving me a net .cap. minus rigging of 490 lbs. ? sorry for the punctuation errors etc , and many thanks for posting

Question 1: yes you will deduct 1 part line--50 feet, 1 pound per foot, 50 pounds total deduction. Question 2: lifting off the main boom with the extension erected, the erected extension would be a capacity deduction. Real world, the jib should be stowed because with the 32 ft fixed erected, at this configuration, an operator would be real close to tipping. Also it doesn't leave much working capacity.

Thanks for the quick reply ...wether lifting off main boom or jib/extension w/ the 32 ft fixed extension erected the 4,250 lbs. should be deducted ? Are the boom weights always deducted to give net cap ?lets say I was making a lift with the 32 ft fixed boom ext completely off the crane on a 35-110 boom do I deduct the boom from gross to get my net , and what would that deduction be ? and where would the weight of just the boom be listed So basically the weights in the 32 ft fixed jib chart are gross weights , and from those weights the erected boom weight will always be subtracted ? at 4,250 , therefore lets say at 0 offset 65 ' radius and 64.5 boom angle the cap . is 5,230 - 4,250 leaving hoisting ability at a paltry 780 lbs ?. for instance ... on this sample question c,w 7,800 removable , main boom 70 ft angle n/a radius 50 ft, aux. boom head 143 lbs .extension ext. N/A angle N/A ,15 ton block 1 sheave 2 parts line 380 lbs , and 50 lbs , 7.5 ton ball 10 ft below tip 338 lbs , and 10 lbs, 20 lbs of rigging ...the answer choices are a.10,329,b.10,442,c. 10,779, d.10,279 ...........I chose D. however this is what is confusing the gross on the chart is 11,450 if you add all the deductions and subtract that from 11,450 I came up w/ the 10,279 ...but did not see any deductions for boom weight , why is this Mr. Miagi ? this leads me to believe the boom weight is not always deducted ... thanxz Ben

Deduct extension when lifting off the main boom.. Do not deduct if lifting off the extension/jib. When picking off the extension the jib chart capacities already account for the effective weight of the extension. Not meaning to over emphasize-- do not deduct the weight of the jib when making the lift off the jib/extension. Hope this helps.

  • @LoadChartLab

I focus on cranes that are used for NCCCO crane operator testing. At this time there are not specialty exams based on Liebherr cranes. Operators of Liebherr cranes may receive a certification through NCCCO, by passing the appropriate Lattice Boom Crawler (LBC) Exam or Large Telescopic Boom Swingcab (TLL) exams. It is then up to owners, responsible parties, to ensure operators are qualified to operate the particular crane. If you just need load charts, there are variety of Liebherr load charts available online.

This just PowerPoint with voice over. As I go through PowerPoint I record and save as mpeg file. For the problems I draw out I use a screen recording program called camtasia along with a tablet digitizer by Wacom for the drawing.

I’m not sure what you’re asking? If you are asking about the dark line separating the load chart, that concerns structural strength and tipping load. See note 15 in the load chart notes. Capacities above the dark line are based on structural capacity of the crane. If these capacities are exceeded the crane may have a structural failure. The capacity values below the dark line are based on tipping. If those capacities are exceeded the crane is likely to tip over before structural damage occurs.

start at the NCCCO web site. There is an outline of what you will need to know, the load charts, and some sample load chart problems. There is also a candidate handbook that tells you everything you need to know about the testing process. Another good resource for people taking the CCO exams is IPT's Crane and Rigging Manual--there is a chapter on Boom Trucks which should help on the specialty exam. The Crane and Rigging Manual will also help you prepare for the core exam. One more source of info is the OSHA crane regulations--it can be found on Line. These regulations are found in the CFR 1926 (construction regulations) in subpart CC. Good luck.
