If he wins the election and starts acting out/bullying again to his allies like he did the last time, he will be made fun of again. America first would result in America alone. This would be bad for the American weapons industry and it's own security and standing in the world. Europe is gearing up and getting ready for a possible war. Many NATO countries buy their weapons from the US. But there are other big weapon manufacturers in the world. France, Sweden, UK and Germany to name a few. European countries could switch to them in an instand. So, I hope the USA will stay in NATO regardless of there is a new president or not.

You can’t formally join while at war. You could immediately invoke article 5 and the entire alliance is at war with boots on the ground. The alliance works as a deterrent so the war should never start to begin with. Ukraine will formally join after the war is over. NATO will continue supporting them until the war is over and they can formally join.

This Canadian supports NATO. If it were up to me we'd be spending MORE than 2% on defence. It embarrasses me that we don't already. Well said Mr. Austin.

It is a shame Canada is not paying its share. Adm. Rob Bauer, NATO's top military officer, recently shared that NATO countries including Canada, must do more to prepare for war. The thought of war must be considered even as we do not want to imagine it. Many want this Ukraine war to go away, but that does not appear to be happening anytime soon. The NATO Admiral gave a 50 year time frame. “The tectonic plates of world power are shifting, and when that happens "earthquakes" / war is all but inevitable.” The younger "me" generation wants no risk while they focus on comforts/pleasures of life. This mentality must be checked given the war, growing threats and unprecedented tension we see in Europe and the Asia Pacific.
