The #Audi #RS6 is an legend of the auto industry, not because it links to #AudiSport’s origins in their original fast estate RS2, most people don’t even know - but rather, because it’s grown a reputation of being a supercar disguised as a mild mannered estate. If you ask joe-public what their ideal super wagon is, 9 times out of 10 they’ll say the RS6, because there’s no wagon that looks meaner or allegedly goes faster. But truth be told when I last drove it 2 years ago - I was left a little cold. Spending a week with it, I found it to be slower than rivals, less engaging, and not as emotional. And my conclusion was that Joe Public sadly got it wrong, and this is a car overhyped…
Fast forward to this year and I get an email from Audi Press offering the car to me as a long term loaner, and as you can imagine despite my opinion, I’ve never replied to an email faster - The typical car reviewer one week loan is great for zeroing in on single topics like out and out performance, but sometimes you can really miss the whole story!
Now that I’ve had a chance to live with the car, a revisit was definitely in order! Not only on living with it as a daily, but also reflecting on the huge changes in the landscape of the car industry over the last 2 years. There are also some super important new models coming in this range of cars too from Audi Sport, including a long awaited M5 rival - so we’ll also go over what Audi’s plans are for the future of the RS6 and their Avant range!
This C8 RS6, will likely be the last RS6 combustion car of its name. Yes you heard me right, and why that is I’ll explain shortly. The car itself is one designed without compromise - ignoring the front door and boot - the entire car gets a unique wide body. With the famous huge wheel arches, flared by 4cm! That’s more than half the battle won, and why people ignore people like me, and love it so much in general.
This base RS6 produces 592BHP and 800NM, and 0-60 in 3.6. It’s crazy how in only two years, these figures seem light compared to a lot of EVs. That goes to a Permanent Quattro all wheel drive, a now aged system which is not fully variable like most rivals, giving a maximum rear shift of power of 85%. This is quite a basic car, with the standard RS adaptive air suspension - which is nice as it will give us an idea of what a reasonable spec is like to live with.,
As for the future beyond this - a two pronged attack is planned for the A6 range. Firstly a facelift is due to this generation of combustion A6, where we’ve spotted an RS6 Sedan, or rather RS7 Sedan! We haven’t had one of those since the C6. It looks to have the wide arches of the avant and essential the same front end, and should be sold along side the RS7 avant.
After this in the new generation ALL combustion models will have odd numbers: so the A6 will be renamed the A7, and A4 becomes A5. This means the A6, will return but as an Etron in both sedan and avant looking like the concept. And Audi Sport confirmed to Top Gear Mag, that an RS6 E Tron is coming, they showed the design to a 1000 of their managers, and there was mass applause!
Now in terms of liveability - this car had plenty of rivals just in my own house, with the taycan ST and E63S. But the Audi equits itself well, easily eclipsing the EV for boot and rear passenger space - being especially roomy for the toddler. I moved house during this period, and you can’t imagine how useful the car was for pure shifting duties, or bring back stacks of IKEA purchases.
But the biggest draw was the emotion, in terms of both looks and performance. Let’s see how it got in!
Today we explore:
⁃ Performance of the Audi RS6
⁃ Future of Audi Sport
⁃ RS6 Sedan and RS6 Facelift GT
⁃ Etron RS6
⁃ Living with the RS6
⁃ Interior review
⁃ Launch control
⁃ Exhaust Sound

I love this channel, always great viewing(otherwise I wouldn't watch)..and to be clear I love the info in this.. However I so often struggle with the lack of volume its recorded or uploaded with, I hope I'm not alone! Much respect brother for all you do
Audi has the balls to charge us $120k for an RS6 but the sunroof is optional. 😅
The standard issue 21" wheels look incredible on this car. Especially paired with the Alu-matte trim as opposed to the much more commonly seen Black Optic trim. Perfect blend of modern and classic Audi in Nogaro Blue!
Audi PR: RBR was really negative about the RS6, let's bribe him with free cars to use for extended periods. How about an RS6 free for a few months? RBR: You know what, I was too harsh. Lovely car! All those other complaints I had? Not so important anymore!

Agree with all your comments. Also the reason it gets such good mileage is due to it actually being a mild hybrid. Your tester didn’t have the pano roof, the rws or the carbon brakes but in my view they are all almost must haves.

the torsen center diff is the reason i love audis so much and i wouldnt like that to change specially on the rs6 and rsq8 or the sq5 etc.
Let's hope that the new incoming RS models get an upgraded BSG that don't leave people stranded on the road.

3 months isn't long enough to experience the painful and expensive unreliability issues the RS6 throws up to owners. Your original video was genuine and honest, the RS6 does not live up to the hype at all. Funny that now you have been given a free RS6 for a few months, all of a sudden, the things you didn't like about the car on first impression, you know, the genuine and honest opinions you made, now don't matter anymore ? Come on man, this is obvious bs, you have been bought out. I quite like the styling, it's subtle, it doesn't have too much fakery (although it still has 'some'). The M5 Touring is going to blow this outdated and overhyped tank, out of the water.
This is my dream car right now
the button on the side of the blinder is for lane assist.
Recently sold my 2020 F-Type P450 & replaced it with a 2023 RS5 coupe as my main driver & currently also running a 2020 RR Velar as my shopping, DIY, tip van & general passenger mobile runaround! Using a Range Rover for just those activities has gotta be the definition of middle-class decadence, right?! When I get to my mid-30s (in 3-5 years), I might just combine those two cars into the RS6. Never had a performance Audi before just an A4 2.0 TDI but I absolutely love the new gen & the future's looking good too.
The vid is fine exept those sounds and shines whenever transitioning through cars
The rs button on steering wheel quickly cycles through the preset drive modes including rs1 and rs2

I’ve had my Vorsprung for three years now (sebring black). I still get really nice comments from passers by. I love the car & it looks so much better than it’s Merc/BMW rivals. I’ll be upgrading to the performance edition later this year. You know that if you press start/stop first, select RS mode & then start the car it stays in RS mode & keeps the rumble? Like the Merc emotion start. The regular startup shuts the butterfly valves after about 2 seconds. My only beef is that mine didn’t have the fully automated parking system which you really do need with the 22” low profile wheels & with it being a bit wider at the back. I’ve kerbed mine so many times 😂 I’m not sure if the vorsprung is supposed to have it anyway but I’ll have to check on the Performance edition (it’s part of the technology pack pro).

there is a button on the end of the indicator (on my my rs5 comp pack) that turns it off. is there one on the rs6
Thanks for the review, nice format. It might not be as relatively "darty" or precise as the M3 Touring, but it's sweet, the RS6, that V8, and it's even a bit too muffled, it can really use a special exhaust system, it's possible to get even with EU regulations. Audi should've lended you the Performance versions though.
Take off is amazing 🔥
I wouldn't be looking for my wagon to have sports car dynamics. I'm curious if you think it makes a great gt.

Those lovely styling lines are from the Prologue concept design language, probably their best ever (shame they re moving away to rounded corners and squinty headlights in the next gen). Great review, cheers. But the question is: this or the M3 Touring? Or the Merc E? :) I'm in the market for something reasonable, yet somewhat fast, but so far SUVs have only hit the sweet spot for me. I'd have gone for an Audi Q8 but the design is quite old, so I'm choosing between the X5 and the GLE Coupe. Then, come the new GLC Coupe... Although, that one is a bit pricey, quite fast and does not behave like an SUV. Damn! But the BMW 3 Touring or Merc E might be a good option, too... M3 Touring wouldn't even pop in my mind next to this... especially since the performance version has been launched which looks even better. This car just looks so good from every angle and has a way nicer interior. The ultra comfortable seats, microfiber headliner, B&O advanced sound system are all features you only get a class above a bmw 3 series. Those luxury features make imo more the car and not the nurburgring time... because nobody races in real life. X5 is cool I don't like the facelift as much anymore but I'd always take the GLE as a regular suv not coupe because I find it very ugly with all that plastic in the rear, but that's just my opinion. Personally if I was for an SUV I would trade the amg in for a Range Rover Sport SVR. In the 100'000 Euro price range everything else seems quite boring.
