The epidemic is that they aren't treating people with pain like they desperately need. My step brother had terrible back pain from abuse he suffered as a child & couldn't get his pills so he killed himself. My roommate has chronic pain after a botched surgery but they refuse to raise his pain meds a measly 5 mg. They are making him go thru all sorts of invasive procedures and putting him on other meds with bad side effects. It appears the drs just want him dead. I have fibromyalgia and became destitute looking for help with my pain. Now I spend most of my days in bed. It's a wicked world we're living in, that's for sure. No matter what, I wont let it take away my joy, laughter, or love.

Things that have greatly help me: a pain psychologist, acupuncture and cupping, trigger point injections, epidurals, PRP platelet rich plasma injection, swimming, water physical therapy, weekly massages alternating between three different massage therapists, positive mental attitude, finding different ways to get better, my two dogs and walking with them, watching funny things like movies or silly videos, working on increasing my happiness, eating healthier, losing the weight that I gained, having a deeper appreciation for what I have. Yes. When you live with chronic pain everyday you don’t realize how wonderful it is when the pain goes away. If only momentarily. I had endometriosis for year and had three surgeries one ovary removal. Ten years of infertility and $30,000 in debt due to the stupidity of drs that are supposed to help. I almost feel they get paid more to keep people sick and in pain. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia later in 2005 but I’ve struggled with the pain for about 15-20 years. When I have good days I make sure they are really good because I don’t often get that luxury. I’m so sorry about your diagnosis and your inconsiderate drs.

That is actually on point people who are well do not need the medical system at all. There is money to be made and sick people and if you make them well well what good are you you don't you want them to come back what time and time again complaining but still paying you for the visit. So if you fix the problem then you don't see him again but if you just prolong it well you got a customer for Life yeah I get it I understand how what's going on the world sucks it really does I can't wait to the world is over because I don't see any good in the damn world anymore there's nothing good here. I totally agree on the good days…..when I finally get what I call a ‘good pain day’ meaning I was able to get my pain DOWN to a tolerable level….I tell my husband that by the time I finally get a good pain day, there’s so much chores piled up from all of the bad pain days that I don’t want to use that PRECIOUS time doing chores….I need to do something ENJOYABLE. This is the hardest life I would NEVER have imagined that I would end up in. Living in a horrible nightmare of nonstop relentless PAINFUL PAIN FOR LIFE. 24/7. It has been 28 years now. I feel like a bad science experiment. My pain is from bad injuries from labor and delivery gone terribly wrong with a breach delivery. Numerous injuries to lower vertebrae, sacrum, SI Joints, all muscle tissue, ligaments, nerves all received damage. I thought that as I healed,..the pain would subside too….but that NEVER EVER happened and this heavy horrible bone crushing aching/throbbing/burning never ceases. My life is a living Hell ….I am a trainwreck of pain from lower vertebrae all the way to both my ankles and feet. What I am doing is not LIVING…..it’s dying a slow grueling PAINFILLED death…..it’s trying to SURVIVE it one day at a time, right now it’s one hour at a time. It’s like waking up from a major surgery….you’re pain is through the roof,…you can’t even TALK to anyone because you are completely overwhelmed with the heavy pain hurting you so terribly. You just want someone to FIX IT….STOP THIS PAIN….but instead they tell you they are not going to give you anything for the pain and you’ll just have to live with it. It is completely and utterly detrimental to every crack, crevice and pinhole of your life. No more life as it was because the PAIN is so heavy and deep and it RULES YOUR BODY, YOUR MIND AND EVERYTHING IN IT. You LOSE the life you had. You are now STUCK trying to survive this nonstop sea of PAIN. I absolutely HATE MY LIFE. This is my 28th year of this NIGHTMARE. We are not born to live in constant nonstop pain. I don’t get a choice….it doesn’t take days off or vacations. It’s there in my sleep. It’s there when I wake up. It’s there FOREVER and my only way out of this physical horrendous painful pain…..is to die. That is my diagnosis. Pathetic. My life is SO DIFFERENT from everyone else. They are getting ready to enjoy their retirement years and have PLANS…..I’m in this life sentence of PAIN and my days are a big battle with the pain. Trying to get it down from an 8/9 to a 4 atleast. It’s a struggle. Most days it takes 10-12 hrs to get to a “tolerable level that I can cope with and wash dishes or do laundry “. By that time, I am a tired, worn down frazzled wreck and don’t feel like doing anything. I don’t know WHY some freak delivery “accident “ (they call it) had to happen……I have NO LIFE but THE LIFE WITH THE PAIN HURTING ME EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY. just trying to eek through somehow. There’s no putting on makeup or fixing my hair and face. My clothes never match, my hair is ugly and grey but I don’t have the strength to even fuss with how I look because I hurt too much to worry with things like that. No shaving legs….I can’t waste time on the frivolous stuff of life. I’m too overwhelmed with just trying to COPE with my body HURTING ME. I lay here staring at the ceiling….there’s no watching tv when the pain is beyond a certain level…you can’t focus on anything but the bone crushing pain killing you. I really hate my life and no matter how much talk or positive mental attitude,..it doesn’t work because the relentless pitiful pain IS STILL HERE CRUSHING ME

I now have to get another surgery hoping that my sciatic nerve can heal. No one I know understands the pain I deal with daily. I don’t know where to turn or who to talk to. Everything I love has been stripped from me, and I am bedridden at 21. I can’t maintain a job, and im trying to graduate college but it seems impossible. If anyone reads this, thank you for listening. Im losing hope more and more everyday.

What can I say bro. I completely understand I've been living with the same exact pain. I've been living with the same exact nerve pain for 10 years now. I wanted to get the surgery but was told it would take multiple surgeries if it didn't work. And the only thing I can tell you man is that it is an uphill battle. Now I have to 10 years I'm considering surgery. But I understand what you're going through. The doctors don't listen after a while they think all you're doing is chasing oxy. You're irritable all the damn time well at least me I don't want to be I want to be happy and chill but can't because of the pain. After 10 years of being in pain and no one listening. I think I need to see a psychiatrist on how to figure out how not to choke a motherfuker when they tell me I am not in pain. Only difference between me and you is that you had your injury younger than me I had my injury at 26.

Pain is more than intensity which is why the pain scale is useless for chronic pain A better description is chronic pain = intensity x time. So even a lower level pain all the time is worse than intense pain for a short period. I’d rather have a kidney stone once a year which is almost unbearable than lower level chronic pain for 12 months.

Chronic pain sucks, a lot of damage trying to stay ‘not crazy’… I was looking for others who were suffering. The wreckage because ‘you shouldn’t have that much pain’ crap. Actually, thinking, realIy do you think I want to be like this… I paid thousands of dollars to alternative pain relief. I have been in chronic pain for 14 yr and got out of it 85%. Actually found something that helped. Found a physiatrist in Boston, Dr. Martinez, just awesome. Started me on an exercise program to stabilize my hips. Was almost pain free when I had a bad accident and broke 8 bones in 13 pieces(lol, plus). I found ‘Block Therapy’, (no pills, but gentle work). The surgeon can’t believe I walk without a limp…(broke my femur in 3 pieces). I take acetaminophen at night(a little cannabis too, had CA and definitely helps) and get 6-8 hrs of sleep after 13 Yrs of 3-4 hrs, secondary to chronic pain. Today my pain is a 2-3 from recent injuries)Forever grateful.. Don’t give up hope. I really found relief after 14 Yrs of chronic pain

I was desperate and ordered the block but took me a couple more months before trying (I cried every day hoping my suffering would end, one way or another!!!). I think everyone, with chronic pain, knows that feeling. I was sold by the 3rd time I tried it for 20 min. It was the only thing that brought me relief, with so little effort, in 13 1/2 yrs,,,I just kept doing it. When they thought I would maybe never walk again, I got on my block. When they thought I would never be able to use my left elbow or wrist, I got on the block. I am functioning again with minimal pain because I lay on a block of wood. Don’t give up hope. I have many other health issues, large hiatial hernia, 9 surgeries since I was a 4 month old baby and I have gotten dismissed as fat and depressed despite having all these issues. Later to find out I have high inflammatory markers and autoimmune issues. In 2018 I told one of my surgeons I was sure I had dual torn ligaments and he said it was impossible to have him tell me later I had dual tears. If doctors listened and left no stone unturned I’m sure a lot of lives would be saved and we would have healthier humans. This is out of control. And being to pained and weak to do anything about it doesn’t help any.

I gained weight from the nerve pain meds so all I heard about was how I need to lose weight, how I’m fat and ugly, etc. one doctor told me that I’m worthless and nobody will ever care about me again so I should get some cats, presumably so I can become a freaky, fat, ugly, cat lady. @Vasilii Che As someone who has been in chronic pain since puberty and the following +30 years, I don't want people feeling sorry for me or trying to offer sympathies with platitudes that amount to nothing. People you know may think prayers dont do anything, in my neck of the woods when someone says they are praying for you they actually believe that creating some compressions in air with their vocal cords will lead to a miracle that alleviates suffering through magic. The source of that magic is up for debate depending on who you talk to, but I have never met someone who uses 'I'm praying for you ' and is not religious. It's harmful for society to allow adults like this to be taken seriously. 44% of Americans believe jesus will desend from heaven in a 2nd coming and bring them directly up to heaven WITHIN THEIR LIFE TIME. How do these 44% vote on matters that are generational problems? Safe to wager they lean a bit more towards "why try, the world is gunna end before we fix it anyway". So, no. Just no. I call this bull shit out at every instance. False hope is still false. I would rather be unhappy and be able to act on correct information, than live in a blissful ignorance while I harm others through a misunderstanding of reality, and I want a world where other people are not making societal choices based on scary fairie tales. Take the X number of minutes people spend in prayer and direct it towards actual actions in the real world. Take the money donated to churches and do the same thing. Last I heard the mormon church alone is sitting on 100 billion dollars or so.

Maybe you don't have hope, but you should have dignity to grit your teeth and go through this life at your best despite the hardship you're experiencing. That's what I'm trying to do as well with my constant back pain. It's just, negativity only creates negativity. You know, get busy living or get busy dying. There's millions of people who suffer from similar health issues but keep pushing on, that's somewhat encouraging. We're not alone in this

@Vasilii Che Growing up in America as a child who heard about religion and instantly thought it was another of my mom's ways of teasing me...and then finding out that she WASN'T kidding...and then finding out that roughly 90% of my fellow citizens cosigned on this idea to some degree...it has felt like growing up in an insane asylum where the inmates have the keys. We have multiple states where they pass laws forcing creationism be given equal time in education with evolution. School boards that put stickers on biology books with a "disclaimer" the evolution is just a theory and not to be taken seriously. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. If you were to run a poll asking people: "Will god protect us from a russian nuclear strike?" well over 50% of my citizens would say "Yes". We have preachers with millions of followers who tell their believers things like "Hurrican Katrina was punishment from god for the sinful lifestyle of New Orleans." and these preachers are CHEERED for "telling it like it is". Personally, I actually do enjoy life. I built a home business that only requires 2 hours a day of my time, I garden, I go to college classes for fun (and credit) and the way I have choosen to try and make the world a little better than I found it is to demand a higher bar for public discourse. I appreciate that you are very likely a good person and don't see the harm in someone trying to show sympathy with another person through statements like 'I'll pray for you'...but that is kind of exactly my point. If I regularly and sincerely went around telling people who were suffering something like: "I will include you in my letter to Santa this year. I'm sure he will bring you the things you need to help alleviate your suffering. I'll specifically ask for chemotherapy products and a dialysis machine so that there's no mistake." if I did this as a regular part of my personality society at large would punish me in a variety of ways. For example, I would like get passed over for promotions at work due to people questioning my critical thinking skills. Friends and family would likely spend less time with me and want less to be associated with me and any of my ideas perhaps. But if someone says essentially the same idea but frames it around Islam, Jewish, or Christian ideas it is totally acceptable, maybe even looked at as a virtue, and almost certainly most people would say "whats the harm, they are just trying to show sympathy". I dont particularly care what a person believes in the privacy of their home. I would really prefer that they use some kind of basic logic to decide if their beliefs are worth holding but only because I want them to have that frame work of logic to work with when they need to vote in the people workong on addressing other larger problems that require cooperation of the community to solve. With the way our national government is set up it literally only takes about 12% of the population to road block any legislation. Of our 100 senators 35 of them represent states that combine for less than 25% of the nations population. You can win those 35 seats with 12.5% of the nations population and it takes 67 senators (a super majority) to over ride a fillabuster. Most of these small states are EXTRMELY religious, and they have been road blocking legislation on climate change, hate crimes, education and more for my entire life. They are easy for the politicians to manipulate because they have sub par critical thinking skills (they aren't "stupid" they just literally don't know how to question authority). So....when I see a statement that has roots in what I consider to be faulty thinking, and this statement is made in a public venue, I'm going to point it out. Normally I'm a bit more polite than I was here...you're absolutely correct on that. But normally there isn't a way to ask in a way that is seen as friendly something like "And why do you think your prayer is going to have any impact. How do you think the mechanism for this process works? Who taught you that this is a real thing, and why do you think they are any authority to be making that claim?" Especially in America, being critical of someone's religious beliefs, in any way, has been considered extremely rude....which is why they have gotten away with things like disclaimers on science text books. How many children decided not to go into biology because of actions like that? How many great scientists and potential discoveries have we lost because of their fear of having their faith and beliefs questioned? How many kids would have become astrophysicist if they hadn't heard that god made the entire universe and science was just a bunch of made up shit that no one can prove. During covid there were many churches that refused to stop services. People being interviewed as they left services were asked "Aren't you worried about getting a loved one sick after being in a closed room with hundreds of people who are singing and hugging?" Their answer? "Not at all, I'm bathed in the blood of jesus and he will protect me. If you get sick from covid then your faith isnt strong enough." It's fucking insanity and it harms the community. I won't put up with a bit of it.

People who do not suffer in pain are so unrealistic about pain. Take a hammer and smash your foot,….then take that hammer and smash that foot repeatedly. Does that HURT you??? Now imagine that same terrible frickin hurting pain just NOT STOPPING….EVER !!! Multiply that to a much larger area than just the smashed foot and feel that same hammer smashing in your back, your rear end and hips, your legs, ankles and feet…same hammer smashing PAIN never ever stopping….it’s permanently going to keep on hurting so badly that all you can do is hold your foot and cry out….. Think you could live with that same hurting FOREVER…and EVER??? How about working? Can you do anything with your foot just killing you every minute of every hour both day and night??? How in the world are you going to LIVE with that pain never ever going away? Can’t drive a car with your foot hurting so badly from the hammer smashing it…how will you get groceries or take care of a family if your always holding your foot because it is hurting so badly…. How can people not understand PAIN..?? We all hate pain. We all want whatever is HURTING US TO STOP IMMEDIATELY and be gone……BUT,..for some of us with different injuries and illnesses that are PAIN related…..it does not stop. It doesn’t go away. It’s here to STAY……who wouldn’t cry out for HELP to stop the constant HURTING….. I mean,…how can people NOT UNDERSTAND “physical HURTING” at every level…? What if someone told you that the terrible skull cracking toothache you have was never ever going away and you’re just going to have to live with it…..how are you going to do that? Just one or two days of it killing you,..and you’re ready to have it yanked OUT to get RID OF THE PAIN….. if it isn’t going away,….how are you going to manage living with that pain every minute of every day….? It would change your life….you suddenly can’t DO anything but hold your crushing pain in your jaw …. 365 days a year….never ceasing. We aren’t meant to LIVE this way….but due to others misusing medications that can knock this kind of pain DOWN so you can get on with living…..we are now treated like criminals because we want our pain to STOP?? This world has become a cruel place.
