I bought the car new from Caledonia in Preston in 2004 . I’d had a few Alfa’s and lancias in the past so always had a soft spot for them . The gta was an amazing car but when I had it there was no quaife diff so it was a bit of a handful . I see it now has a 4 pipe exhaust too so it probably sounds even more aggressive . It was a real wolf in sheep’s clothing as only a true Alfa fan would notice the wider stance and bigger wheels to distinguish it from a normal 147 . I’d had an Impreza sti type U.K. before the Alfa which was the total opposite . I always have fond memories of the gta and kept it for 2 years . Had a couple of breras later down the line but not in the same league as the gta .. I’m glad u are enjoying it as much as I did and have made the necessary improvements . The busso 3.2 is a masterpiece in my opinion and even 17 years on still puts a smile on ur face .. so much so I now own a gt 3.2 just to remind me ! But it’s not my daily driver like the gta was back then . These cars will never be made again so it’s great to see them being cherished by enthusiasts like urself

Your mate trying to bash the reliability at the end lol check a performance model vw/Audi/bmw etc of the same era and won’t be any different, all these cars will have little niggles. These are reliable as long as you keep them well maintained with regular servicing. I’ve had a few v6 alfas (all modified similar to you with exhaust/coilovers etc) and had no issues, love em!

Hi mate great to see some one that loves it like me, I would never sell mine even though its number 13 of the track built 😉

Great vid on it and always good to have an informed perspective. You'll need to get on the dyno though! Reckon your 280 estimate will be off, I have induction kit like yours, decat manifolds and fancy exhaust too but also Ferrari 360 throttle body and remapped up to 272. Without the last two you'll be similar or maybe 260 odd. Had mine 7 years and was daily for a fair while of that. Average costs about £1k a year or less, though merely keeping up with good maintenance. Anything of similar age as you say is about the same just not as fun!!

You running decatted manifolds? I run ceramic coated wizard on mine but I still worry about the ECU, if you get any ideas on how to protect it more, let us know but my under bonnet heat has come down.

Do you think the ceramic coating has made a difference? I’m due to get Wizard manifolds fitted but not sure if I should get then ceramic coated, wrap or leave as is?

@@d333my The issue is when you park and switch off the car the heat soak from the pre-cats is incredible, I’ve measured 120’ on the bottom of the ecu and 60 on the top, with the wizards I’m down to 75 on the bottom and 55 on the top, don’t forget the whole engine gets hot but when on the move there is a lot of air flowing, I would definitely ceramic coat them as they not only run cooler than the CF3s but cool down very fast, heat wrapping is good as well but I think you can’t put the heat shields back on and eventually the wrapping has to be redone over time, that’s all you can do, what I would like to know is why did Alfa decide it was a good place to put the ecu, also one more suggestion is while you can’t do this when out and about but when you get home especially if you have a garage leave the bonnet open that also dissipates heat quicker, would have been good if the bonnet was designed with cooling slots in the first place. Cheers

Tax is nearly £700p.a. Driving quick on any cold engine isn't good for it. It definitely doesn't damage sensors. Please stop talking rubbish about Alfa's. This is exactly the wuffle that destroyed its reputation. I have had my 156 Selespeed 9yrs and never has let me down. Lovely car though. Keep up the Good work. Subscribed...
