Living with a Mercedes EQS - Is it really an electric S-Class? | 2022 EQS 450+ real world review

As we know, it's one thing to drive a car but it's another thing entirely to live with one. With that in mind, we got the keys to the new flagship electric limousine from Mercedes-EQ - the EQS - and put it through its paces in a few sensible and not so sensible real-world tests. Join us for six days of filming, around 700 miles of driving and many hours of thinking all condensed into 34 minutes as we live with an EQS...whilst trying not to mention the S-Class too much.
Believe me, there's a lot more to say and explore with this model. The director's cut was well over 40 minutes and the script was longer than an end user license agreement in its original form.

    I got my 2023 EQS 450+, and I love it. It looks different, but I like it. I got a good deal; otherwise, I wouldn't pay the real cost of what a car at this price point has to pay for a lease.

    Great video! I own a EQS580 simce February and absolutely love it! Would be good to get any source of info about how to add features such as car wash mode since my dealer appears to be clueless. Among that: don't dream it, drive it!

    The 580 is the one that I would love to drive! I'm glad you're enjoying your new EQS. I'll have a look for car wash mode next time I'm with the car - from memory it should be on the vehicle settings page accessed by the physical button to the left of the start/stop button rather than the one found within the MBUX main menu. It certainly was a dream to drive and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

    Enjoyed that, would like to see the same for the SUV version which sorts out two of the main issues with the EQS, the exterior styling and the interior rear headroom but retains everything else

    Thank you! I'm interested to see how the SUV stacks up against the saloon. I think the raised cabin and roof height will be transformative for rear seat passengers - I'm very curious to see how it will cope with the back roads and I'm sure I'll be living with the SUV when it hits UK shores.

    If it’s anything like the saloon, the reviews suggest don’t think of the AMG versions as AMGs but as very competent cars

    @@stephenwensley9328 I think that is a good point of view. I have the 2023 EQS AMG here in the US with nearly every option and I have to say it is the best car I have ever driven and that is coming from having driven an S580 ICE car and a Tesla Model S. In particular, this car puts Tesla to shame when it comes to style, luxury and comfort. I am not a car reviewer nor even a car enthusiast so I have always looked at cars more for comfort and styling rather than power and race track-like performance. So, granted, one might not consider the EQS AMG to be an AMG in terms of power and handling, but that matters little to me. It has everything I want in an EV. Finally, I might be in the distinct minority but I love the design of this car and find the exterior a pleasure to admire. Perhaps it helps to have the superb MANUFAKTUR matte grey paint job.

    The cabin design hasn't changed since launch but it does look quite different depending on the colour chosen! Light interiors make the interior seem a little more spacious and with the HYPERSCREEN equipped the cabin does have a different look to it; the only physical difference (other than the screen) between the standard and HYPERSCREEN-equipped models is the placement of the start and vehicle control shortcut buttons.

    I've had this same car for 6 months, on lease, but in Manufaktur White. On the whole.... it's ok - not great. There are a few big issues, and a smaller issues, that make the experience a little disappointing - especially as the price point for this car is £107K... I don't agree with you on the sound isolation. I actually think it's pretty poor. I can hear people talking as they walk by and wind rush on motorways is L.O.U.D Similarly, my view of the air suspension different to yours. It is quite crashy over drain covers and ridges and ruts This base model has a shockingly poor sound system. It's that bad that I just don't use it No automatic/active lane centering for this price??? An EQA, at over £40K less, has it! I don't agree with you on the sound isolation. I actually think it's pretty poor. I can hear people talking as they walk by and wind rush on motorways is L.O.U.D Rear seat passengers say they get uncomfortable after an hour. The base is too short (even for someone 5ft 5in) and they say they feel like they are sitting 'stooped forward' I think some of the issues could well be 'resolved' by moving up a trim level or two (for an additional £7.5K to £15K) but that then take it to over £120K (!!): I'd say avoid this base model and get the next trim level up (AMG Line Premium I think it is) as a minimum.

    Mercedes should upgrade the interior of EQS SEDAN and SUV, the interior is too compact,it doesn’t represent S CLASS with the expensive price,the seats are not S CLASS standards,the leg room is like E CLASS,the worst of all,how can 180,000€ car come without massage seats,head up display included.The hyper screen,the front passenger’s can’t watch movies cos no option foe Netflix,Amazon app etc.BACK SEAT SCREENS FOR 180000€ CAR IS OPTION,to be honest Mercedes need to rethink,if not,BMW I7 is far far better;Finally as S CLASS THE MERCEDES STAR IN THE BONNET IS ERASED,the bonnet looks ugly without the star and the front grill is too small,Mercedes should rethink,if not BMW IS WINNING THE RACE,JUST MY OPINIONS
