I kind of love the one couch, two chairs look for the living room! There's already so much symmetry and I feel like some asymmetry really balances it out. It also makes a ton sense to have armchairs like it is now since it doesn't block access to that door.

My exact thought! It's already a smallish space and if she brings in another similar sized couch it would block the entry way. By having two small chars with similar looks to the temporary ones, it'll make the space look more open!

Agreed! It also makes the door to the porch feel more accessible, I think, which makes it feel more flowy. Absolutely love the look with the two chairs on that side!

When you said “I was so nervous because I’ve never done it before” referring to the lime wash I was thinking “girl, look around you. You pretty much built your own house by yourself without ever having done it before, paint on a small patch of wall isn’t gonna take you down” 😂 Great job as always MaCenna!

MaCenna, you have made the living room so beautiful! I think 2 chairs across from the sofa (like you have now) looks great! I can tell you like symmetry but I think adding another sofa will make it too matchy-matchy. Adding the 2 chairs still gives the room balance and makes it more interesting. I am so very impressed with all you’ve taught yourself and the love and hard work you’ve put into your home! You are a joy to watch!

Okay, first I want to agree with every encouraging and positive comment. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this series. It is so inspiring. And I want to add one teensy weensy suggestion. My husband is a finish carpenter and we sat and watched the reveal together, hitting pause and discussing. Maybe paint the crown at the top of the cabinets to match the crown above the walls. That way the cabinets look straight at the top rather than strangely curved. You have Grey Mist crown above the fireplace so I actually think it would look more complete that way. It is a little bit choppy now. So sorry to be that person nitpicking while you bust your hump. My only defense is that I'm a former copyeditor. 😉😆You and Romeo are awesome. Can't wait to see the big finish.

I wish once in a while you'd make an hour-ish video. 30mins-ish feels so quick to go by when it comes from you. Well done on everything, MaCenna. Edited: Now that I've watched the video, it did feel a big rush to put so many things in such a short duration. I know you have a strict timeline in what you do and are a perfectionist (as I am myself). I love that about you. Your work ethic is epic! Please try to slow down and enjoy the process more. Nevertheless, the results are unquestionably amazing and will always be, every single time. We're all proud of you. You will never ever bore your audiences with your personality, skills, brilliant ideas and so on. It's the details that matter, right? Please don't take this the wrong way, and thank you so much for sharing with us. You're a complete joy to our days and nights.

Oh yes. I don't want to put any additional pressure on you MaCenna, do whatever works for you! But I would definitely enjoy it if the videos were longer (and that does not mean more DIY needs to happen! I imagine there's a lot of content you edit out or that would be relatively easy to film, that many of us would actually enjoy, like a timelapse of that second set of shelves would've been a great addition!) But I think audiences can come across as demanding, and I just want to say I'm super thankful for all the content we get exactly as it is!

I love your style and I love your energy...also your mom , dog , and boyfriend are great! I am a furniture painter/refinisher and although the method you used to age the fireplace worked great, I think I have an easier way. Rub clear wax over the areas you want to age,( keeps the dark wax from staining the surface) followed by dark or black wax (apply liberally) then wipe off with a cloth. Any flat areas that you want to not look aged use a cloth with clear wax, this acts like an eraser. This method is fast and effective and probably less tedious than the stain pen. Excited for the living room finale. Thanks for the great content!

I can't explain HOW excited I am to see you decorate those shelves and see that Frame TV up on the wall!! It's really going to complete the room! (Heads up, Frame TVs are super duper discounted if anyone needed/wanted one)

Loving it! I worked on new homes for a while and we always painted the crown molding before putting it up. Then just touch up the nail holes. It was much easier than painting it after it went up. Just a tip to reduce ladder time LOL. You inspire me to do things I've never done before.

Definitely couch and two chairs for the living room! A second couch would really narrow the walking space to the side door. The chairs allow for movement in lots of directions instead of creating a “hall” like a couch would. As always, such an incredible job!

What a gorgeous room, the fireplace looks so antique and it fits the room style so beautifully. I would do two chairs with your sofa because two sofas would most likely OVERTAKE the space. IMO. It is so wonderful when your vision comes to life!!!!

Hi, I don’t know if you’re going to feel it’s too late for this but actually what’s perfect in my opinion for your mantle and the look you’re going for is to wax the whole thing with clear wax and then do some black wax on the areas you want to have that little darker, aged look. Now this is for people who like redo furniture, and to give it that vintage look. You put the clear wax which also seals and protects the wood, then you use the dark wax the black on there and brush it on a little bit. Then you wipe it off and by doing the clear wax underneath it makes it easy to remove any amount of the black you don’t want there are a lot of furniture artists/ furniture flipping channels that can help you with this, but like the best, but one of the very best is Kacha. I hope you check this out because seriously it’s easier than what you’re trying to do with the pan and it’s exactly going to get you the look you’re looking for I believe honestly. I really hope this helps. Good luck. 🌹

I was going to suggest applying a wax to it too to give it an aged look. So much easier than using a pen.

I agree, the wax method would save so much time and effort, and give a great vintage effect. Definitely the way to go.
