With occasional dentist, travelling and clothing, shoes, cell phone - laptop upgrade, entertainment... I think that $1500 is more realistic.
So happy to see you include health insurance in the budget. The $1,000-a-month goal is still achievable but is becoming difficult.
Fantastic! With an extra $300 I can have entertainment including perhaps one weekend trip to per months making the total $1300. This is not bad at all and the condo is nice and clean. Thank you for showing us. You gained another subscriber today 😊.

Thanks mate, appreciate that!
if you are lucky, your Condo will have a van that will do runs to the mall. Mine does, 40 baht per trip, keeps Grab trips down.

Yeah, it's doable but all depends on what you want to do :)
3:57. Sign right there says 1Gbps fiber home internet 899THB/mo. I wish I could get gigabit fiber internet for $25/mo here in the states.

Ah yeah, great internet available here 😀
The weather actually dont look that bad considering everyone is saying the air is unbreathable this time a year during burning season. Im coming back 1st March, hope it kinda look like this :D
love the video , maybe just slow down a bit while showing areas in condo.
Im 50 yrs old, and just about to sell all my property and assets, which will give me a lump sum of £1.5M (UK). I could invest that and get about £5K pm after taxes (using v low returns). I think to live a "decent life" in Thailand, you will need about £2,000 pm (sterling) as a minimum. That will cover all the essentials, some fun, luxuries, hobbies, and trips to other nearby countries. Dont forget funds for returning back to your origins, and the cost of that for 1-2 months as well!
What are the best, cheapest Thai Universities to learn Thai as an expat in Thailand?
I found a grubby but acceptable room a couple of 100 metres, diagonally left behind Dada Kafe for 250 baht a night in Dec '22. Can't recall the name of the appointments, but exceptional value.
Thanks

Phuket costs me more than living in Alicante Spain tbh, you could live cheaper here but I am talking about living the same standard as I would normally

Important not to forget: a health insurance comparable in quality with the one in western countries will add another 200 to 600 USD, depending on age.

Do these insurance plans only cover emergencies or routine check-ups etc as well? I'm from a country (UK) where health insurance isn't that common, so I'm pretty ignorant about it all!
USD 1000 per mth in 2024 is a survival budget in Chiangmai today..so glad u included health Insurans + ED visa fee /Thai lessons... I would also include a budget for a Rtn trip to your home country annually and visa runs when needed...
Can we get a google maps pin for the apartment?

So the 100 a month for the student visa is that also the cost of the language learning?

You can also get a "self defense" student visa in CM.

Yep that’s the visa and learning Thai or Muay Thai :)
Less than £800... amazing. Do you eat out all the time? I'd find that a bit boring I think, maybe a mix of cooking at home would be better.

Yeah eat out mostly, you can get great ingredients for cooking yourself as well for a good price :)

At that price bring your anti depressants fir the state if isolation Abe poverty you bring….I lived there fir 2.5 years $2100 is livable
$1000 a month, doable but what sort of life is that, it’s fairly basic, and you’re very vulnerable to unseen expense’s. Lets say you trip in the street and bash yourself up a bit. You have the insurance to stitch you up in hospital for that cut on your head, but does it cover the dental for the 2 front teeth you knocked out. I don’t think I’d like to live too long on $1000 in SEA. The way I think of it, is that if I was in the UK, with only £1000 a month, I’d have a better life in Thailand on the same money, but it wouldn’t be great. I’m retired, so my days of roughing it are over, so I’m planning double that a month, to stay long term, in comfort. But if you only have $1k a month, you are better of in Thailand, rather than Europe or the states, at least short term.

Yeah I think for some it's a decent amount, but for others would be mere survival :)

Thailand already said they don't wait cheap charlie in thailand. That's why they make anyone wanting to retire in thailand to show large amounts of money coming to a thai bank account on a monthly basis. So, did vietnam which kick out a lot of foreigners. Add mexico to that list of kicking out foreigners with little funds to live in their country. The days of cheap charlie's doing to third world countries may be getting shorter and shorter. 😂 But go ahead youtubers and keep showing foreigner. How to live $10.00us for a year in these third world countries. 😅
