You remind me so much of myself 40 some years ago. I lived in a hand made cabin in the mountains of Colarado. Splitting wood for my cookstove on a stump right in the kitchen. The lifestyle set me up for a long and happy life. Now in my 70's my soul is full with the memories of doing the things I loved. Hope your's is just as full.

Been off grid for 14 years now in the high desert forest. Water harvesting, solar, generator backup, Washer, dryer, microwaves, large oven, 3300 gal water storage, many options for cooking, rocket stove, No end to available wood, just getting too old to keep up anymore. Everyone has their own way to do it but almost anyone can do it if they want to. I've done it all alone after being given maybe a year or two to live because of all the health problems. That was 14 years ago! Doing this made me stronger and greatly extended my life expectancy. I really didn't believe I could survive it but now I'm feeling better than I ever have. It is very lonely however.

We have a predator generator, and we were flooded in 2022, all my husband did was drain the fluids and blow everything out, add new fluid and a new battery and it started on the first pull. Our shop had 18+ inches of mud and water run through it. We love it and will buy another when the time comes.

Y'all really might wanna consider checking into some wind turbines to augment your power production. Especially during winter months, seems the worse the weather gets, those wind turbines keep on producing power day and night, provided the wind is blowing. Anyways, there are some good diy turbine builds and something like that would be pretty easy to build given your skills. Would really come in handy to keep the chicken shed warm enough so the water wouldn't freeze.

memories are so select. i remember as a baby looking at my grandmothers cooking stove.. my mom had placed me by the stove in a basket. i do not know the age i was, maybe three or so. but i remember with clarity the fire crackling thru the air vent on the left side of the stove. i remember the smell of burning wood, which today i love. i remember the crackle and snapping as it burned. the glow lit up the area. i also remember the rest of the house was ice cold. they would put me in bed in the next room, and pile blankets on me, then i would tunnel my way into it, and it was like a warm cave, built for me. at 62, and a successful military career. i am far removed from that period of time. just once, i would love to be able to experience that moment again. all of it, the warm stove, the cold bedroom, the smells of cooking, and my mom and grandmother talking. my mother taking me to the store for food. the large wheel of cheese on the counter, barrels of candy, two for a penny. i visit my home town at least once every two years. i still drive by the old farm house, long gone. Charles

Hey Kyle. I use a dual fuel generator that runs off gas or LP. I run it on just LP and love it. I have a 250 gal LP tank that I use for the generator but mostly for backup heat. Only fill it once a year. Costs around $400 a yr. The generator also has a remote start so in the AM I don’t have to get out of bed to start it…. Sweet. Thought I’d pass it along. Good luck with popple cabin. You worried about insects? Looks like your property was logged off about 30-40 yrs ago. Plenty of good sized trees for cabin.

I had a new well pump installed yesterday. They drilled a hole in the pipe about five feet below ground level so that it would drain when not pumping so as to avoid water freezing in the pipe. The tank was getting kind of low and I was worried about the water in there freezing, but I think I'm in the clear now.

My Grampa Jo had a dog named Skeeter. As a young man he and his dad and brother cleared a densely wooded lot in northern Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. That was our family cottage for my mom’s childhood then mine. It didn’t have an indoor bathroom or anything growing up, wood cook stove and we spent many days at the lake. My Grampa retired from his long career as a machinist at a newspaper factory. He sold his house and used that money to turn the cottage into a year round house. He did most of the work himself. But he unfortunately got an aggressive cancer and died right before it was finished 😢 My nana even though she was a city girl lived there into her 80s till she had to go into a nursing home. Somehow it got into my soul though. I love the outdoors and camping and fishing like my Grampa. My hubby is way way up north in Ontario at a wildness lodge outpost. He’s building cabins at a fly in remote outpost then going back to the lodge till fall. He will come home right before I have our sixth baby. We dream of someday being able to buy a little land and do it for ourselves. Thank you for your video ❤❤❤

I cannot wait until it gets warmer so you can start building your other one. Skeeter is such a great dog and you’re so lucky to have him. I can tell he loves you so much.. Take care all of you.
Thanks Kyle, Hope you have a great day buddy.

Thanks Kyle for taking us along. Good to see kitty and love how Skeeter looks after you so well. He loves his human!😊 I really wish I could live this way but age and medical issues plus no way to have a homestead make it kind of sad some days. I can live vicariously through you guys. 😊😊
Kyle you have put out another good episode, and I can say what I appreciate most about your channel and your approach to life is the no nonsense way that you go about things never a bunch of fillers always str8 forward. Looking forward to seeing the next build as time and weather permits. Everyone take care until the next video.

I’m sure it will be amazing. Hi jack
memories are so select. i remember as a baby looking at my grandmothers cooking stove.. my mom had placed me by the stove in a basket. i do not know the age i was, maybe three or so. but i remember with clarity the fire crackling thru the air vent on the left side of the stove. i remember the smell of burning wood, which today i love. i remember the crackle and snapping as it burned. the glow lit up the area. i also remember the rest of the house was ice cold. they would put me in bed in the next room, and pile blankets on me, then i would tunnel my way into it, and it was like a warm cave, built for me. at 62, and a successful military career. i am far removed from that period of time. just once, i would love to be able to experience that moment again. all of it, the warm stove, the cold bedroom, the smells of cooking, and my mom and grandmother talking. my mother taking me to the store for food. the large wheel of cheese on the counter, barrels of candy, two for a penny. i visit my home town at least once every two years. i still drive by the old farm house, long gone. Charles
I wish you and your lady, puppy dog and KitKat a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Love the way Skeeter idolized you. What a dog!

I am sure it will be amazing! You have an awesome work ethic. So glad your well is working as expected to make your life a bit easier. Looking forward to your next video. Keep warm ♥️♥️

If it's a system for back-up heat why would you not just plumb in a direct vent propane wall heater since that would be more efficient?
You’re such a hard worker Kyle! Can’t wait to see you new cabin!
I had a new well pump installed yesterday. They drilled a hole in the pipe about five feet below ground level so that it would drain when not pumping so as to avoid water freezing in the pipe. The tank was getting kind of low and I was worried about the water in there freezing, but I think I'm in the clear now.
Made my day seeing a Kyles Cabin video pop up! Can’t wait to see the log cabin series! Great job young man! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
Looing forward to the build video series. Gotta love Skeeter!
I'll be watching. Love to see your progress.

Kyle you seem so smart and mature for your age . Most people your age are very lazy. Proud of you and the progress you've done on the property. 😊😊
I love your animals ❤
Excited to see the new build!
The inside of your cabin is so neat and organized. Love it. Can't wait to see what you build next. Peace Love Happiness
hey Kyle why not get a roll of clear skid wrap film wrap around those 4 beams holding the roof and close in that well structure...then simply make a door by making 2 cuts 3 feet apart straight down on the side you figure might get the least wind...and just attach a piece of log to the bottom of that door to keep it from blowing around !!
I was one of your first subscriber’s & I lived in Northern Mn. for years & appreciated everything you did & do. Love Ciera & Skeeter & kitty too. Your grandfather would be very proud of you Kyle!🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s

He’s doing a great job. Hi Joan
Think about building a small log smoke house. Dry smoke some of the game and fish you catch!!
7:35 minutes in, Skeeter is just to adorable! My springer spaniel would do the same. Busy working but, nope, gotta stop to cuddle! Love your videos, and keep up the good work! Love seeing Skeeter ❤️🐶
Good job brother.
Great work on getting your logs ready for the new cabin .Hi skeeter from 🇨🇦
Beautiful video. Skeeter is awesome. Stay warm.
Thank You ,, When you make your ice rink put strings of outdoor mini light string w/solar charger or so . By the way we love our wind turbine good for days with no sun (ef has proto types)
Kyle, if those trees are winter cut get a 3000 psi pressure washer it will debark those trees in minutes and you're left with a baby smooth finish on the logs.
It’s moving right along!! Great job!
Great progress!!👍👍👍
