Are you thinking about moving to Woodbury, MN, or just want to know more about Woodbury as a whole? If you answered, yes, then this video is for you!
Hi, I’m Darin Bjerknes and I’m a local Realtor with eXp Realty and I’ve been helping buyers and sellers for over 15 years. This is video is about what I would want to know about Woodbury if I was thinking about moving here as well as some fun facts.
Alright, I’ve got some quick-hitting facts for you about Woodbury, let’s go…
Woodbury became incorporated as a city in 1967.
It is 36 square miles in size
The current population is about 76,000, making it the 8 largest city in MN
The average household income is just over $134,000
The median home sales price as of 2021 is about $410,000
The median age is 37
Woodbury is also a pretty educated city with 62.4% of the population having a Bachelors Degree or higher.
And the last one…Woodbury was originally named Red Rock, but once they realized there was already a Red Rock in MN they switched it to Woodbury.
As far a schools go, it’s a little complicated because we have 3 school districts within the Woodbury city limits. First, we have school district 622 or North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale, next is 834 or Stillwater Area Schools, as well as 833 or South Washington County.
There are also some private schools options as well.
I believe Woodbury has some of the best overall shopping options in the twin cities metro. You can pretty buy whatever you’re looking for in Woodbury. As for Food options, we have most of the major food chains, as well as some very nice options, sit-down style restaurants.
If you’re into Golfing, we have two Golf Courses…Eagle Valley Golf Course and Prestwick Golf Club. You can get a round of 18 and a cart at Eagle Valley for about $54 on average and at Prestwick… it’s about $95 for a round of 18 and a cart.
Woodbury has a great park system throughout the city…almost every neighborhood has a park close by. There are over 50 parks & that’s not even counting the school parks so there is plenty of areas to explore and play for your little ones.
Connecting most of the parks is Woodbury’s expansive paved trail system that spans around 160 miles. Also, if you’re into mountain biking the Carver Lake park has some great single track trails
We’re also fortunate to have an amazing sports complex in Health East Sports Center. It’s one of the largest multi-use sports centers in MN. It has high-quality indoor and outdoor facilities, including a 90,000 sq.ft. indoor field house, two indoor ice arenas, an outdoor ice skating rink, 36 outdoor athletic fields, a splash pad water feature, and Madison’s Place.
If you’re a dog lover and you like to socialize your dog or just give them some great exercise you’ll want to check out Andy’s Bark Park. It’s Woodbury’s off-leash dog park that is 70 acres and has walking trails, benches, picnic tables, pet watering station, & pet waste disposal stations.
Alright…I’m sure if you’re thinking about moving to Woodbury, you’re probably interested in learning about real estate. As a rule of thumb, the older homes will be on the Western portion of Woodbury and you’ll see newer homes the farther you move east and southeast of Woodbury. A very common home style is a two-story home will 3 or 4 BR’s on the 2nd level, kitchen, dining, living room, & office on the main floor, and a finished basement. We also have mostly 2 or 3 car garages that are attached, especially with the newer homes.
Pretty much all of our homes are powered by gas & electric that is provided by Xcel Energy.
In regards to Garbage options… we have about 8 options to choose from unless you’re in an association that covers garbage for you. When choosing from the eight options you’ll want to look into what services they provide, do they require a contract, & what do they charge.
If you’re looking to recycle or dispose of household hazardous items you’ll want to check out the Environmental Center in southern Woodbury.
If you have yard waste to dispose of I like to use Gertens RES that is just south east of Woodbury on 70th St. They will take pretty much anything that has to do with yard waste. Grass clippings, brush, tree branches, leaves, and rock.

Good afternoon. What's the average cost of rent for a 2 bedroom? Also is it a diverse area?

Hi Kardana! Depending on what type your looking for it's $1700 on the lower end to around $2500 on the higher end for a 2BR with some exceptions of course. Yes, it is becoming more and more diverse every year.

@@LivingInMN Thanks for thud info. I am looking forward to move there. In your opinion which neighborhood is best to raise kids? With low crime rate, break- in, racism, accessibility to hospitals, malls, restaurants and good public school.
