Living in the Paradox of Consciousness - Ram Dass Full Lecture 1975

Ram Dass describes the levels the Western mind has to go through to move beyond rational thought, and accept that other planes of reality are just as real as the physical plane. Then, and only then, can we give up who we thought we were and accept who we truly are. In you is everything you need to be a fully enlightened being. He also describes the processes one goes through when they surrender to God. From feeling the pull of God, to understanding the paradox of consciousness, Ram Dass walks the audience through the stages of the evolution of awakening. In seeking liberation, we must look toward God, but also honor our incarnation and relieve suffering on the physical plane.

I'll tell you, I went from a depressed 16 year boy who knew he was being fed BS by our society and parents to a 28 year old peaceful being that is not afraid to face any sitatuon and preparing for the day I leave this vehicle. Ram das and many others have helped remind me of who I'm not and who I am. 12 years later and I'm still listening and hearing deeper and deeper teaching each time I go back

I love that a lot of his lectures have the sound of babies and small children in them. The thought that some baby that had yet to be taught this societies way of believing in self and being boxed in to our self built chamber got to hear Ram Dass talking about the effort to escape the ego blows my mind. While that group was looking to find soul, there are new body souls in the audience that are learning to build the box to confine oneself. Full circle. And the wheel of time spins on.

I spent years categorizing what I called my ego. Taking note of everything that my ego liked to do. Then I spent the following years trying to destroy my ego. It was one of the most horrible times in my life. I found deep meditative peace and the deepest darkest of Hell. Then I heard him say You must honor your personality. This is one of the things that neem karoli Baba taught him. The moment I begin to honor my personality I begin to love the parts of me that I was rejecting. It was like taking off a 150 lb weighted vest. It was the first time I looked in the mirror and could love and appreciate the reflection.

that was fun to listen to. lots of variety. very entertaining--like life. the short of it: infinite formless energy morphs into finite forms for its pleasure, which pleasure is adventure, challenge, risk, excitement, chills and thrills. When a finite form awakens it knows its form is temporary, is having experiences as a form, and then it enjoys all its experiences while having empathy for all who suffer not being awake. EVEN SHORTER: HEY POPS, WHAT AM I? You are a portion of infinite energy that has morphed into a finite human form to have adventures.

I figured if I kept going I was just going to die from it so I ran back towards the light LOL then I discovered that there are other practices to teach the individual to mechanically breathe to get through this phase.

I think, that when you start to notice that the world is an illusion, you may be ready. Meditation can certainly help you get closer, but in my opinion that is probably not what you should do. Simple test: if you believe in anything other people have told you, and that is the reason for your beliefs, you are not ready.

I’ve concluded that Ram Dass is important. Not what he has to say but his interesting journey through the breadth of human experience. He’s not nearly as elegant as Alan Watts but you cannot deny his influence on the counter and psychonaut culture.

Something to think about. If we're all the one consciousness then, no matter how enlightened you become, while there's still physical beings in the universe, you'll be coming back. How can you not reincarnate again and again and again when we're all the one consciousness, no you or I? Unless consciousness ceases to manifest in physical form, there will always be a physical form of you/consciousness.

Divine if You may allow me! Yes and no! For example: The ocean(water) don’t cease to be the Ocean because water forms icebergs! Hope that helps! You have a choice to return if you chose after Self-Realization. The possibilities are infinite! Eternal Love❤️❤️❤️

@@maxfletcherEternalLove the ocean is just another form of water. The ocean isn't where the waterfall came from. Everything else you said is just a belief, it's not verified fact!

I just discovered Ram dass, i have been watching alan watts and eckhart every night for months. This lecture was inspiring, especially the part about incarnation and , the silent babies resonated with me. Who can link me to the second part of this lecture of this day?
