Thanks, Sean. Although I’m not a digital nomad at this time, I love your detailed reviews. I’m retired and pretty rooted to my little piece of paradise on a beautiful river in SC, but I do love to travel. I always feel I’d like to stay longer everywhere ( most places) I travel to really get to know the place and the people, so your reviews satisfy some of that curiosity for me. I love your KDP videos, too, because that’s what I do! I hope you have a pleasant experience in Maylasia, can’t wait to hear what you think of it.

Sawasdee ka! I'm thrilled to hear that you love Thailand ❤ You’re absolutely right. Chiang Mai is a popular choice among digital nomads, a lower cost of living compared to Bangkok, with loads of expat community and co-working spaces. Phuket also has many affordable accommodations but it can be more touristy in certain areas. If you're planning to spend quite a long while, I’d suggest considering many secondary cities, for a more affordable and relaxed experience. They might not popular for tourists, but most cities have charming cultural atmosphere, temples, markets, and beautiful natural surroundings. If you prefer Bangkok but still want to connect with people from your country, there are specific areas known for their expat communities. Sukhumvit road is popular among Japanese, with many Japanese restaurants, supermarkets, and community events. Silom and Sathorn areas have a significant expat from Western countries, with many international businesses and co-working spaces, etc. By the way, I'm currently in London, but I'll be back in Thailand very soon and hope to see you guys in Thailand!

I've been around the world to 50+ countries and lived in many too. You just hit the 2 best countries in the world for affordable, convenient living by the beach. Bali is best for me because there are waves to surf, plus you missed some of the most epic spots that most STILL don't know about where there is no traffic and still all the convenience, but Thailand is definitely right up there too and you're right, in general locals in places like Phuket are not going to be quite as nice as the north, although you can still find tons of super nice peeps, they are just jaded by millions of idiotic tourists who have rolled through there the past 20-30 years, and the southern thai are a little more stubborn in general (you know who you are southern thai peeps haha) You might actually like a few spots in Ecuador and Mexico if you haven't been as digital nomad who needs good wifi, good food options, chill vibes, etc (I've been to almost all of central and s america), but for sure Asia really can't be beat when considering ALL factors. Philippines has a few epic spots too, but Bali and Thailand as a digital nomad is hard to beat. If you wanna mix it up and try something away from the beach, there are some random spots like a little town in Bulgaria that is becoming pretty well known at this point. Few spots off coast of Europe but that water is too cold. South Africa could be worth a visit, etc But yeah, Thailand and Bali cant really be beat as a digital nomad in your 20s-40s. It is what it is.

Great review of Thailand, I really love it here. You're right about Phuket, in the last year thousands of Russians have come over to Thailand mostly landing in Phuket. Many locals there are not happy with them and there has been a lot of issues and tensions. Apparently there are so many Russians in Phuket Russia has opened a Consulate. I know the Thai government has extended an invitation to Putin to come over for a visit. The Russian Foreign Minister came over to open the Consulate not too long ago.
