We moved 20 min outside of Sioux Falls. Almost 3 years ago, we made the decision to move to South Dakota, from Las Vegas and haven't regretted one moment- even though we moved the year of the Polar Arctic Vortex. It actually was -60° ha! Welcome to South Dakota! Best things? No State income tax, gorgeous outdoor activities, affordable living and Chislic. Google that one! We just bought a home here, last week, we decided to dig our heels in. For those just catching on to how awesome South Dakota is- leave your state for a better one, leave your crappy politics there, too. We like guns here, we like to hunt and political correctness is not always a priority. Sorry, not sorry- its why SD is kicking ass. This is where you can weather the bad politics of today, for sure+

@Warschach are you kidding? Check out Beresford, Canton, Worthing. All beautiful towns and plenty of places to keep horses. These towns are anywhere from 20 min to 35 min from Sioux Falls, but a whole world away. No hesitation, if I were your good friend, I would absolutely tell you to look into these areas!!

I live in Brandon. That area east of Sioux Falls has the the most attractive land area with thickly wooded and rolling hills. The Big Sioux River has a lot to do with that. A lot of the nicest homes are on the east side.

If you lived in Iowa City, you know it gets almost as cold there. I have lived in both SF and Cedar Rapids. -20’s happen in both places. You forgot to mention no state income tax and the great bike trail system. You might need to get bumper stickers like they have in Tennessee now. Welcome to TN, leave your politics in CA.

I love it here. Strong law enforcement. Business friendly. The winters are welcome with me. For decades I went without a winter. Very minor traffic jams if any. Friendly fun people. No state income tax. Leadership that protects us from people who want to take away our freedom of choice. Real homes that cost a lot but they're quality homes. Your not putting one of these homes up in 3 hours. Sioux Falls is one of the best places to live in the US. You undersold it.

South Dakota seems like it might be a refuge to weather this incoming storm. I was looking on the map to see what would be most suitable geographically and Sioux Falls caught my attention. Im from Michigan so the cold is meh, but I really like the Little City vibe and that there seems to be a window of opportunity. I know I'm not the only one thinking about moving to South Dakota. Your response to c0v1d put you on the map for sure. With an affordable cost of living and a healthy economy, I predict SF will explode... In a good way. Thank you Ram-Z

Sioux Falls is growing so fast that his statistics are off. The population in Sioux Falls is over 200,000, so check the date of these postings and assume a lot more are living here. One other of the worst things, depending on where you live in the city is the smell. The north side has Smithfield Foods that slaughters 20,000 hogs a day and depending on the wind drift, the oder is gastly. It’s bad no matter what and if you live north of 10th street, you can’t escape it unless there’s a southerly breeze. It’s probably why the southern part and suburbs are growing so fast.

Thank you for your comment Dakota Tactical. California is one of my most reached out places due to cost of living and taxes. The average house costs $200,000 more in California vs South Dakota. Some other categories that are cheaper in SD are: Food and Grocery, Utilities, transportation and health. I don't doubt that you could find a higher paying job, due to cost of living. Source** Indeed, SD pay for RN is on average $27 per hour. CA pay for RN is on average $42 per hour. So they have their PROS and CONS! Good luck on your move to CA!!

@Dakota Tactical, I was born and raised in CA. Without a doubt it is the most expensive place to live in the US. Although there are places that have more affordable housing, those places are typically located in an area that nobody wants to live. @@RealtorRamz that is true that housing cost is cheaper for buying now. However there is a shortage of houses for sale.
