Nomi! You need to carry a backpack when hiking! With water and some snacks (preferably something protein), a whistle, flashlight, etc. You just never know when you might trip and sprain or break something that would keep you from going further. Unfortunately, accidents "do happen!" I pray you never have to experience anything like that, but again, you just never know. Please be prepared hun! There doesn't always have to be water to encounter an alligator, they are all over the place now. Thanks for sharing your hike with us and I'm so glad you made it back to your RV safely! I agree. In fact, I was recently watching a van lifer couple touring the Palm Springs, California area, and the management company that supervises the hiking trail they were about to embark upon insisted that each hiker carry at least 32 oz. of water on the hike. Also, that is with dry desert heat. You dehydrate even faster in heat as humid as in Florida.

Unexpected accidents can happen to anyone at anytime. Better to be prepared, to have it and not need it! I amaze my hubby whenever we are on the road for days at a time…. I have a ‘bag for the never-know and unexpected accidents’…. It’s been a lifesaver more times than not!

I guess I have more paranoia than you. I could not have done that trail by my self. I'm proud of you.

I'm almost 70 years old and I'm going back to the gym 🏋️‍♂️ and I do alots of walking. It keeps the blood flowing and helps carry oxygen throughout the body, and exercising keeps you fit and firm and vibrant. It's keeps age off of you.

Nomi the key lime pies were on the third shelf down below the carrot cakes. They have whipped cream around the circumference and a lime slice in the center.😊 Next to the full size pies are miniature ones and usually some individual slices. Take care and be safe !

I think you should have more than a knife for protection because you can be easily overpowered trying to use a knife because you have to get close to a person in order to use it. I lived in Dunedin and at one of the local parks on a trail like you were on, a huge snake-and I’m saying HUGE-had to be 5 to 6 feet long and so thick- came out across the path right in front of me within 5 inches of my feet when I was walking- right across my path- I was like you I literally almost dropped dead--I promise you I never ever went in those woods again-and I never run-but I ran so fast off that trail back to my car it wasn’t funny ! No thank you!!!😂

Have you ever thought of getting small security cameras for the outside of your van? You can see who is outside, especially at night. Stay safe.

So glad you took a pic of the map. I think so many people don't think to do that. It can really help if you get turned around. You go girl!

Nomi you did really well. Always remember that the animals are more frightened of you than you should be of them. Making noise on your hikes will scare them away. Never go hiking without taking atleast 1 litre of water with you as it is useful for more than just drinking. I was very proud of you today for facing your fears. Big hugs ❤

Gurl, I was NOT ready for that F-Bomb! 😂😂😂😂

Nomi, it’s mating season for gators which means you will see gators in places that aren’t normally part of their natural environment. That includes golf courses, neighborhoods and streets so just try not to panic. That’s why I when you turned off the gravel path into grassy areas I said to myself oh lord she’s going to probably see some kind of wildlife like a snake or gator. You did right by going back the way you came. Shortly after I moved here to Fl in fact the next spring I saw my first gator hanging out under a tree adjacent to a carport. It was there for probably 2-3 hrs before the trappers came and hauled the gator back to a nature preserve. It gave me the weebie jeebies too, since I have small dogs they are supervised at all times when outside. Your meal looked delicious and healthy. Just to let you know even though you’re about to leave FL until June 9 there’s a tax free event going on to get items for hurricane emergency kit. Like batteries water and non perishable food items which for you and space could be foil packets of tuna chicken salmon and canned vegetables small enough for 3 days. So that as you travel to your next destination of CO via Texas you will be prepared. CO can have a fire season in the summer but they had a lot of snow so the ground should be well saturated as that snow melts. I do hope you enjoyed your stay here in FL and that you will com back. The ultimate key lime pie are found down in key west however Publix does have a good pie too. The difference is in the crust vs the custard of key lime. It’s one of my favorite desserts!

Never go for a walk like you did without water. Pepper spray is a must and carry it in your hand. Husband and I go camping and when we go for walks no matter how long we always have our spray and it really helped when we were at a park with our dog and a lady didn't have control of her pit bull and he came after our dog and the pepper spray worked. The pit just got a little smell of pepper and backed away. Stay Safe

There were no lakes around but you were in a swamp area, lots of gators and snakes too. I’m happy you’re safe!

Several years ago I remember seeing a bear walking up the road from my house that was freaking creepy 😱

As soon as you showed us the road ahead, that's the first thing I thought of was alligators or someone coming out of the bushes. Maybe that's why that trail is so empty 😳

Nomi, you’re an adventurous one I must say because that trail was too isolated for this Sistah girl. I’m not that brave!! I laughed so hard after you saw that gator and quickly did a u turn ( I’m glad you’re safe and that you saw him before he saw you) but walking in Florida on trails would be a NO for me. Pineapple is my favorite fruit and if I don’t eat it outright, I juice one whole one chopped & peeled of course with a English cucumber & a knob of fresh ginger. It’s a lovely & refreshing drink especially coming off a fast. Publix has the best fried chicken and their deli potatoe salad is good as well. Love your vlogs and stay safe out there ❤

Hey Nomi, just a suggestion but you should probably carry some sort of spray, either mace or bear spray because it allows you to defend yourself at a distance. Having a knife is great but the spray will allow you to defend yourself without coming in direct contact. Key lime flavored cheesecake is not the real deal, you’ve got to try the real key lime pie, there’s no comparison.
