I always wondered how that camp oven worked. I almost bought one but I have limited space in my car when my son and his daughter come from NY to go camping with me. Glad it worked for you.

I’m so impressed with your cooking and eating habits, you eat better than so many others living in huge homes!

If you have a dutch oven you could cook bread in there too, I use parchment paper to line the dutch oven, I'm glad you opened the window, for you, and your pup

Just a tip on young Ruby...please make sure she gets a nutritional diet and avoid too many treats. I learned my lesson the hard way when my dogs skin broke out in awful ulcers. Some dog treats come from China and there are toxic ingredients that harm our dogs. Please get her not to rely on treats to occupy her time. Fresh apples, carrots, green beans, pumpkin are very good and dogs will eat them if you start young. I love that you have her. She will love and keep you safe. Be sure to give her lots of excersize because she will grow larger and, arthritis will get her joints. Thank you for letting me offer you this advice. I have owned 12 dogs and, they need to start young to develop healthy eating habits. Heather Ontario 🇨🇦

That chowder and bread looks so good!! We're getting ready to possibly be living in our car. We have 7 cats and 1 dog. We've had the cats for at least 3 years and the dog only since August. He just turned 1 year old in November. I have made calls and talked to people and have learned some much needed information. We have a Colman camp stove, camping cookware, plenty of blankets, food and water. We know where to get rid of grey water and the potable toilet waste. I will continue to watch you and Ruby. I lived out of my pickup truck by choice crossing the country for 3 years with my dog, (I was in my 50s). I would not trade that experience for anything. Remain positive and give gratitude to God when you wake. I wish you well with the number of kitties that you have, that may prove to be your biggest challenge. I am 76 years old. When I was a little girl my Grandma had one of those ovens.

Tell Ruby not to walk in shame. My pup didn't like the sea lions sounds as well. Dinner looked delicious. Love to you and Ruby.

I bought one of those ovens just for kicks while camping, and what I did to improve upon it was, I bought two fire bricks to go in the bottom of it to even the heat out better, and bought some fire blanket, used for welding, cut it out and wrapped the oven in it. It kinda insulates it to cut down on burning yourself, plus, you save fuel by it heating up faster.

AMAZING!!! Love everything about this! The chowder, the bread, the waves, the ocean, the coziness, and.....Ruby!!!! Keep it coming and stay safe!

Oh, this is an excellent idea that I will use.

You are obviously a good cook, and it’s so nice that there is an oven available for you, and I get hungry for some flavours and some freshly baked bread as I watch you. I have seen wonderful cooking done by people living close to the earth, (in caves) with very few possessions and minimal supplies or food choices, just great traditional recipes and lots of spices. (It really made me think about how complicated we have made our lives and surrounded ourselves with too much stuff). Yes, bread often takes less time than specified. Ruby is adorable, even if not adventurous about sea-lions.

Oregon Coast is just wonderful and so are you and Ruby! Thanks for sharing and love cooking-videos 😍 Bread and soup looks delicious. My favorite is Clam showder.

Hi Rowan. I was a nomad for about a year and also a truck driver for four years, and I used the RoadPro portable oven, which looks like a black lunch box along with small aluminum foil loaf pans to cook anything from soup, to meats, to just about anything that requires heat to cook. The thing about being a single nomad or driver is that when cooking, you have to remember you're only cooking for one person. For the bread, instead of making a whole big loaf, you could have just made 1/4 of the bread dough powder and adjust your measurements accordingly and made just enough to fill one small bread pan to fit inside the RoadPro Lunchbox Oven. Again, instead of buying full sizes of butter and milk, buy pints of milk and already cut patties of butter; in other words, just small sizes of everything.

Hello from the Great Southern Land. I grew up on a remote sheep station, ( ranch, ) and seemed to be always hanging around in the kitchen whenever my mother was baking bread. Like most boys from the bush, I quickly learned enough to make a meal and feed myself, but baking bread was my real passion. I've done it all from old style Aussie damper cooked in the hot coals of a camp fire to Irish soda bread. I've often wondered if the attraction to making bread comes from the sheer stubbornness of someone, ( like me! ) who tried making bread and failed numerous times, but was just too mule-headed to give up! Then when you finally turn out a good batch of bread, you sit there and wonder what all the drama was about!

That puppy is smart to be nervous about the sea lions because they can be dangerous. She looks adorable!

Sometimes I use a tiny can of evaporated milk if I'm out of milk or cream. Sometimes even powdered creamer that dissolves in the hot water when I need milk for any recipe.

You can also buy small containers of already-chopped onions/peppers etc, which cuts down on cleanup time.

Excited about getting a coleman oven myself. Remodeling n will have no grid electric. I am working on getting solar slowly. First a generator. N some batteries. Using a single burner stove or my rocket stove.water similar to urs except in a room. It works. N i am there to work on the place. Less money i spend more that i can repair. Yes, yummie crab meat...being from Baltimore (Chesapeake Bay), blue crabs were always on the menu in homes and restaurants alike, fried soft crabs, crab cakes, and steamed crabs in beer and Old Bay Seasoning. Not so much anymore as the Bay got more and more polluted as Baltimore opened up it's harbors to more and more industry. So then we had to import our blue crabs from other states like Alaska, Maine, and Louisiana. Again until oil spills ruined even THOSE fishing waters. Let's hope that these fisheries clean up over time. But it was good to see so many fishing boats where you were and that their livelihoods remain and grow.
