Living in Mission Bay, San Francisco, CA 2023 | Moving to San Francisco, California

Are you thinking about moving to San Francisco, California? Let's explore the Mission Bay neighborhood in San Francisco, CA today!
Mission Bay is a great neighborhood to live in. It's the newest neighborhood in San Francisco, having only been developed within the past 20 years or so. And since then, it's quickly become one of the most popular places to live in the city. Everything in Mission Bay is new and because of this, has a much different look and feel than other parts of San Francisco. Mission Bay is also a perfect location for anyone who wants to live right near the water - it's right on the San Francisco Bay, and has amazing waterfront views.
Mission Bay used to be an industrial area of the city, but it's been completely redeveloped and transformed into a residential neighborhood. The streets are all clean and well-maintained, and the whole area has a really new feel to it. The UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay anchored the development of this neighborhood, as it became a hub for medical, scientific, and biotech research and development.
Mission Bay is on the far eastern side of San Francisco, and depending on your perspective, that can either be a good or a bad thing. On one hand, Mission Bay is right next to downtown and SOMA, so you're close to all the action, but it's far enough away that it doesn't have that busy city feel. However, because of its location, it can also feel a bit isolated from other parts of the city, especially areas further west.
Weather-wise, Mission Bay has some of the best weather in San Francisco. Its location on the eastern edge of the city means more sunny days than most other parts of town. But since it's right on the bay, the weather can be a little unpredictable, and temperatures can get a little cooler and it can sometimes be windier here than in other parts of the city.
Mission Bay is a well-planned-out community with a lot of parks and green space. China Basin Park just broke ground this year and will include 5 acres of waterfront open space shaped by community input. There's also Mission Creek Park which is an open space located on the north and south sides of Mission Creek. There's a bench-lined esplanade on the north side and a grassy, tree-lined path on the south side, which is perfect for a leisurely stroll or jog. And dogs are welcome in both areas!
You'll find everything you need in Mission Bay without having to venture too far. There are plenty of grocery stores, bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. Of course, there's also AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, as well as the recently opened Chase Center, where you can catch a Warriors basketball game or concert.

I remember that neighborhood before development. There was a great breakfast place that turned into a dance club at night. Breakfast on the dock looking at the ships was neat.

Hi @ChrisGrande 👋 Yes, Mission Bay before it was developed was mostly old abandoned shipyards. Some are still there, the further you go down 3rd St., past the Dogpatch. Is the breakfast spot/dance club you're referring to The Ramp? If so, it's still there - I loved going there as well!

@@tonyknott17 I’m not sure the name. You could sit out back on a wooden deck over the water. There was always a fishing trawler or something like that parked in the water out back. I’ll look it up to see if it looks familiar

@ChrisGrande oh yes, Mission Rock Resort. I’m familiar with it. Just after 16th St. and actually it’s before you get to the Ramp (if you’re coming from downtown. It’s a great spot!
