Peter absolutely loved that "Lao Jia" (old home). That feeling of visiting your childhood dream destination, and realizing that dream now! ⭐😄 We're super happy for you Peter! Love the wooden classic style of the Airbnb, and the courtyard is beautiful! Such a calm place to live in🌳🎋 Breakfast is so simple, yet looks so delicious, especially that baozi! The kids came following to learn from the shaolin master from NZ!! Was that Peter doing some farming at the end? 😋 Totally love the simple lifestyle of the locals, looks like a really lovely place to visit, Guilin is definitely going into our bucket list! Thank you guys! 🥰 It's a really rural location that took us ages to get to but it was a very simple and peaceful way of life which was nice (just not the giant spiders hahah 😂). Definitely awesome we got to make Peter's childhood dream come true though 🙂👍 Even really enjoyed the vegetarian meals each day too. Hahah those kids were cute! Really liked Peter and visiting us after school and on the weekend too lol 😁 Haha nah not Peter farming at the end.. just a villager we saw during one of our walks around while the sun was setting 🙂🌾 thought it was a nice shot! ❤️

10 days was just enough time to burn that beautiful landscape into our memory banks. The whole China trip was massively eye opening for yen n I ❤

I've only just started watching your youtube channel, but you guys are such an inspiration. Thank you for this video. As a fellow Asian that grew up in a Western country this truly pulls at my heart strings. I also recently chose to try get back to my Asian roots and a part of me truly feels at home. Yea it was built in the Qing dynasty and the owners fell in the love with the place so renovated it and turned it into a guest house for people to stay at and experience China's countryside too. Super handy it has a kitchen, kitted with washer as drying machines as well as a shower and seated toilet lol. Made it a more comfortable stay for sure than back in the day 👍🙂 Def had some epic mountain and river views too!

I love the video and really feel like going Guilin to visit and stay in the hostel like this. Love it so much. Thank you for showing us.

Thank you! I left China at 9 and haven’t been back since. It’s been 40 years. Time to visit!!

Thank you so much. I loved your video and if I was younger, I would rent the same B&B in Guilin. I visited there, the city in 1996 and floated down the Li River and named my dogs after the city and the river because I had left my heart there. When you bit into the bun it was so satisfying to hear the sound you made. Lovely video.

This is one of a kind experience guys, love it 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing with us! I (Ony) and my family have been to Guilin before but with a group tour. We took the ferry or boat and sailed on the river. It was a long time ago but the memory is still here, still remember how beautiful those little mountains are in Guilin 😍 Looks something from a postcard! i was in this place, Guilin, once in 2019, it's really amazing place.... i cant wait and visit again..... especially the huge incredible cave.....

Thanks for sharing such a great video. It remains me my real LaoJia in shoutheast China nearby the sea. It was so easy to leave ones hometown, but a hundred thousand times difficult to come back and live in again.

I was apprehensive about the bugs I'd have to face hahah thankfully only ran into some creepy ones towards the end of the stay 😂😅 I think they said originally they use to cook meat for the meals too but too many foreigners didn't know how to eat the dishes so didn't enjoy it so they changed to all vegetarian to keep it simple and more palatable for the majority of visitors 🙂 less waste that way too I guess! The mountains do look similar to the ones in Ninh Binh ay? We thought the same thing when we saw them too 🙂 Hehe yes the kids were rather cute.. by the end of our time there they would show up shirtless too for their workouts to copy Peter 😂 so precious! ❤️🙂

I remember travelling from Guangzhou to Yangshuo (near Guilin) back in the 1980s; a day and a half river journey to Wuzhou followed by an eleven hour rickety bus ride. Now it's a two and a half hour high speed train ride. I'm happy that people are now convenienced but I have great memories from the olden days.

Hi Earl, back in those days I remember traveling around with my grandparents too very different to how things are now 😁 must have been amazing seeing Yangshuo back then I imagine the buildings were a lot less commercialized?

Yeah the train is definitely the best way you get around in China. N the veges in this area are awesome cause most the locals are farmers 😁 🌾🍃 super fresh and no generic modifications

I love the idea of going back into the past and being so close to nature so this is something I'd definitely want to experience. That breakfast looks so delicious, homemade bao definitely looks different than what I can find here. Exercising in that setting must be lovely. These hills were so amazing, no commercialisation either so it was full on jagged lime stone formations. Beautiful and dangerous at the same time 😅

I know that road. I've flown, slow train, fast train, coach and sleeper coach from Guangzhou to Guilin so many times. 4yrs courting my husband who lived in Guilin before moving with me to London. Thank you for sharing. I never took photos 🥰

Lao,What a wonderful place in China, and I think some of the people there speak Tai, a language that completely ceased to exist in Assam in the early 19th century. So I want to go there and learn the Tai language and recreate it in Assam. bye the way.... Thank you so much for giving us a great wise video......... Love from Assam (India)............❤️

nice video, and such a nice place to visit, i have stayed in a similar place in thailand and mixed in with the local villagers and done the same in vietnam , the experiance in my opinion is priceless as i always feel that you get a real taste of the country staying this way, and a chance to try the real local food as well. great video thanks for sharing it with us

I enjoyed it but definitely not the bugs hahah 😅 that's really cool you've done something like this in both Thailand and Vietnam though 🙂👍 it's a really nice and different experience especially for us so use to living in the city 🙂

Yea the mountains were mean! Definitely wasn't one that Peter could climb up in jandals though so he actually wore shoes for this but still came back all scratched up from a slip 😅 glad he still made it though 🙌😁 super picturesque 🙂👍
