Living Cultures Indigenous Fellowship: Amadiba, South Africa hub

Be part of the fellowship journey: www.insightshare.org/indigeno...
Indigenous youth, and the cultural traditions they belong to, have much wisdom and experience to offer human society at this turning point in history. InsightShare’s Living Cultures Indigenous Fellowship connects 38 indigenous youth from 6 communities across Africa wishing to harness participatory media as a tool for engaging and mobilising their communities. We are working with Indigenous Peoples of Africa to ensure they can access media tools, and lead and inspire radical transformations.
Fellows are based in 6 hubs in Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Namibia and they represent some of the oldest indigenous populations on our planet. Their communities have unique stories, cultures, languages and traditions. This video presents the Amadiba hub, based in Mpondoland on the eastern coast of South Africa. Fellows are amaPondo peoples.
Using a flipped classroom approach, we are training youth based in some of the most remote communities through remote live training and weekly meetings and supporting them to use communication technologies safely for self-determination, self-representation and positive local action.
InsightShare’s Living Cultures Indigenous Fellowship is just the first step of our long term strategy to support the growth of autonomous indigenous media networks. Ambitious actions need collective support! Any donations submitted to InsightShare will ensure the long term legacy and sustainability of this project. Donate today to support our work with indigenous communities to protect their lands, rights and cultures around the world.

InsightShare’s Living Cultures initiative supports Indigenous Peoples to protect their territories, languages and cultures using Participatory Video. Living Cultures is a growing movement across Asia, Africa and the Americas uniting indigenous communities across borders; to celebrate, foster and protect their cultures with the principle of self-determination at its very heart: www.insightshare.org/network/
Support for this programme is spearheaded by the Bertha Foundation and the Staples Trust.
