I attribute it to taking care of his voice and body, developing his craft further, and leaning into the small changes that have come with age. It does sound very different from the record to me, as does the entire band since it’s been 30+ years and a different bass player.

This song did very well, what are you talking about? Now if they wrote a complete album at this level, or several, then they would have the success of bands that do that. They aren't underrated at all, frankly their entire careers were fueled by this song alone basically.

They still got it after 35 years. I can see why CM Punk loves this song

I DO think that they should be larger but they have had multiplatinum albums and won grammies as well so I don't think that they are totally underappreciated. That being said: this is THE greatest rock group from the 80s by far! Vocally and musically, no other rock group can touch them

I'll be honest, I clicked on this expecting to hear the singer struggle through this considering it came out in 1988 but holy shit.... Not in the slightest. Ridiculously good vocals!
One of the most underrated songs ever. The boys nailed it.
Each member of the band is absolute perfection. My god Corey's voice!!!
How the HELL does Corey still sound THAT good after all these years?? Amazing stuff.
I love the fact that Corey Glover looks like he was snatched off the street on his way to watch his kids'/grandkids' soccer match and belted out one of the most amazing vocal slayings ever (these guys made a footprint on my heart decades ago).

Doug Wimbish is a badass! He replaced Muzz Skillings since their 3rd album. Doug played on Seal’s “Crazy”, Depeche Mode’s “Useless”, and much more.
I love when an older band can play a song better than it sounds on the album. Incredible stuff!
