Great video, clear no precise. A fourth option to bring PowerPoint into vMix PC / laptop is via hdmi output of that local laptop running vMix ( that’s if the presenters are local ). Most laptops have hdmi outputs…You could incorporate a decimater in the chain if needed.

This was a well thought out and communicated video. Kudos to you. I knew almost everything you covered except for the "Present Online" feature of PPT. However because of the detailed presentation I wanted to watch it all the way through. Thanks for taking the time to do this. There are few videos that do this in depth concerning Teams Live Events and vMix. I know it will help a lot of people.

Hi, thanks for the awesome video. I had a live stream a month ago with a powerpoint and remote guests on screens behind and in front of the presenter and we just sent the split HDMI out of the powerpoint laptop into our ATEM minis. This way everybody got the same slides and videos and could cut as they desired (one ATEM for the remote teams guests in a normal teams meeting and one for the stream audience). Keep up the good videos from the corporate events world. Everything else is mostly gamers and twitch streamers, which is cool but with a different point of view...

We are about to stream a new year event over customer's Teams and I will be using LiveU Solo as encoder, I have seen Teams rtmp integration inside Solo's interface but in your video I also learned about all admin permissions and a lot of very usefull tips. With the browser source in the preview in OBS. You can right click and select interact, were you can click on item from the website. I assume you will be able to control slides.

A question though; would it be possible to make a connection from OBS to Teams via Virtual Cam or NDI to the Live Event ( or meeting ) on the same laptop? Reason is, I want to be able to integrate participants' feedback in a similar setup and therefore I need to avoid the 12 second lag when streaming via rtmp....

Hi, liked your tutorial We do many live events using Vmix and Teams live. Found a real restriction that you can’t use the external encoder option for public events. Found this really frustrating.

Thanks for that comment - great to read. With regards the external encoder, you mean that if on 'Live Event permissions' if you select 'Public' (where I instead chose 'People & Groups'), when you then scroll down the option for 'external encoder' is greyed out/unavailable? As shown in the clip, in my situation 'Public' was not available on that corporate laptop, so I could not select it. But I can't understand why an external encoder would not be available. As you say, that must be frustrating.

Yes he’s right. It’s a real drag. The workaround is using obs virtual camera and then feeding audio in via extra i/o on a sound card or using virtual cables. But there can be lag from this. I’m still trying to figure out where the lag is coming from

Hey thanks for the comment, Jon. No I didn't. I've had a few quick dabbles with NDI but nothing more than that. For what I've needed to to do with livestream jobs so far it's not been needed but definitely interested in exploring that functionality more.

LOVE IT! Have an event in late March similar to the one you described. 3 simultaneous rooms and 3 sessions with presenters in each room. Will be using 3 laptops with vMix Thanks for this as I was really worried about the PP integration.

I think the best thing is to stage the panel discussion at your filming location. Not sure this answers your question but thanks for the feedback.

If an external app or device option is greyed out how does one enable it in teams to use with vmix???

My first thought is check you have the correct Teams licence. The specific licence types are referenced in the clip. Not all licence types allow production using an external app.

Great video!! Would it be easier to have the power point presentation as an additional source just like a camera source? So you could just switch to the power point presentation and have the presenter controlling it as they wish, then just change the source back once finished? just like you would change an active camera angle? you may need a long lead for this to run from the presenters computer to yours, but if you have one is that better? thanks

Thanks Steven. Do you mean take the HDMI out from the presenter's laptop, feed that into a capture card or switcher and then into vMix or OBS? It's certainly worth considering though I have not tried this. Thinking about it, you certainly need a switcher because you'd probably have at least two cameras on the presenter/stage and the presenter's laptop HDMI out would need another input at your end. So you're up to 3 inputs. But worth investigating. Thanks

@@stevenpickett2035 also worth bearing in mind the presenter could already (in all likelihood) be using their HDMI out to feed a large monitor for the audience in the room to see their presentation. So you'd then need a splitter to enable you to take it into your switcher?

This has probably been commented allready. You can control the online Presentations also in OBS by rightclicking the source and choosing the third to last option. I dont have an english OBS installed. It is called "tilpass" in norwegian. It will open a new window where you can interract with the page.

Thank you for an awesome clip which i'm in the trouble of finding the way to do the live event on MS team. Your clip does so much useful and i tried with OBS vs MS Live event. Just only 2 problem still need to find the solution : 1. How can i bring the screen of the presenter live to put on the same scene on OBS to LIVE i.e 3 guest speakers live from their home cam via MS team as well. 2. When i tried the scene of video , there are so many sound output from the OBS, MS, and desktop. I don't know which one to be mute so that the sound will be only one channel. This will be your kindly help me for the best solution for my first live event as a producer. Thank you

Thanks for your feedback. Pleased the clip helped. I can only offer a general answer which probably won't be much use to you regarding noise/echo in the production. Personally I find OBS very, very frustrating to use in terms of monitoring and controlling audio. It's the single biggest problem for me. Others have different opinions and are very happy but the way you monitor and control audio in OBS makes very little sense to me. So I use vMix for all my live productions. In my opinion it is clearly superior in the logic of the workflow when it comes to audio in particular. But whatever the software you are using a key thing is to avoid multiple microphones feeding the same audio into the production. Good luck
