Starry Eyed
Michael Holliday was born in Liverpool, and brought up in the Kirkdale district of the city. His career in music began after he won an amateur talent contest, 'New Voices of Merseyside', at the Locarno Ballroom, West Derby Road, Newsham, Liverpool.
Holliday had an ongoing problem with stage fright, and had a mental breakdown in 1961. He died in October 1963 from a suspected drug overdose, in Croydon, Surrey. His grave is at Anfield Cemetery, Priory Road, Liverpool.

Excellent singer lovely personality still remembered with affection his songs still heard on Angel radio 📻 Hes buried in a lovely Cemetery thanks for posting
Also don't forget 'Six Five Special' on TV and 'Holliday with Strings' on the radio. And who can not forget the dulcid tones of the singer of the Shell adverts of the late 50s. Keeping going well on Shell, Shell, Shell! I had the priveldge of meeting when he stayed with us while performing at a nightclub in the Midlands. He was a lovely man, we have some great pictures of him with Mum and myself taken a very very short time before he died.
Wonderful singer. Taken too soon. RIP.
I WORKED AS A DANCER ON THE SAME SHOW WITH MICHAEL WHEN HE CAME TO THE GAIETY THEATRE ONE WEEKEND AT 'BUTLINE'S HOLUDAY CAMP. THE CAMPERS LOVED HIM , HE ALWAYS SEEMED SO CALM WITH OUT A WORRY IN THE WORLD, YET WHAT A SHOCK TO FIND HE HAD ENDED HIS LIFE SO SUDDENLY. WHAT A LOSS TO ALL WHO LOVED HIS VOICE AND PERSONALITY ON STAGE. IM 80 THIS YEAR AND STILL RECALL SUCH HAPPY DAYS WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND THE WORLD BACK THEN WAS FULL OF GREAT ARTISTS THAT GAVE THEIR TALENTS THROUGH WORKING AT' BUTLINS' THISE WERE THE DAYS!!!!
one of my favourite singers
Great singer made it look so easy
I still listen to Michael holiday fantastic singer great songs my favourite is dream talk best singer we ever had
When Mike was buried there, the grave was against the wall of the Catholic Chapel, which has since been demolished. That's why there is a big open space behind the line of graves that ran along the wall of the chapel.
Portrait Of My Love was Matt Monro, Michael's biggest hit was The Story Of My Life

at last someone got it
He had a lovely voice,a Bing Crosby sound alike. God bless him.
His biggest hit single was THE STORY OF MY LIFE, which went to number one in January, 1958, when I was 10, going on eleven,.
I loved The story of my life
A wonderful singer ; he should have been up there with Crosby , Como , Dean Martin etc , and been an icon ! He suffered from stage fright and emotional problems , which impeded his career. He was taken much too soon . To people of my generation , he will be remembered with great deference and affection . RIP Michael Holliday !
You know where Mike Holidays grave is, but not his hit records .
The Bing Crosby of Britain no problem?.
He was a little more successful with singles than you suggest - only two number ones, but a number three (Starry Eyed) and five others that made the top thirty. Unfortunately, one of his best, Drums, the last record he recorded, did not make the charts as by then Merseybeat was dominant.
