About Stephen “The Devil” French
Drug dealers beware. The Devil is coming to get you.
Stephen French invented the perfect crime: robbing drug barons of their huge fortunes. In SAS-style swoops, The Devil raided their fortified mansions and tortured them with horrifying violence until they paid up. Through “taxing” the richest and most powerful crime-lords in the UK, he netted over £20 million.
The Devil was no ordinary criminal. He was a world-champion fighter, who studied psychology at university to master mind-control techniques, and he used the teachings of Machiavelli and samurai warriors to outwit his enemies. He also had a complex relationship with Curtis Warren, the wealthiest criminal in British history. The two were childhood pals, then partners and finally bitter enemies.
Stephen is now an author, public speaker and activist.

Yeah, yeah right?
after a ten year run addicted to crack, I'm only a week into sobriety, and as I listen to your episodes while I struggle to sleep, I often find myself dreaming that I'm in jail and these stories are being told to me by my cellmate. it's a fuckin trip, sometimes it's nightmarish, sometimes the stories are being told to me by crazy fucks from my own past; on this particular day, I dreamt I was in a posh cell, fully furnished , a total fantasy vision of prison...the funniest part is when these stories are told and the person I see in my dream is a person, a criminal friend, from my own past. It really is a trip. I'm 41 now, goin on 50, a criminal-outlaw since the age of 4 or 5, believe it or not...and although, I've earned a Master's degree, I have talent, skills, here I am at rock bottom..alone, in debt, struggling to figure out how all this gets put back together. Do I have story to tell, would anyone listen...who the fuck knows, who the fuck would care anyway HA! Here's to you Shaun. Thank you for helping me get through the night.

Apparently Mr. French here was a bit of a bully when he was imprisoned in Albany, he tried to steal the commissary from an Irish man who just entered the prison only to get smashed up by the Irish man who used a tin of peaches to rearrange his face, he stopped his bullying after that life lesson.

Shaun brought out the best in SF, this interview is INFINITELY better than the Scottish guy's interview "yeah, yeah yeah, right!".
This was a great podcast. The best podcasts/interviews are the ones where you let the guy speak instead of constantly interrupting them. I feel like Shawn does that really well and therefore gets the best out of whoever he is interviewing. Stephen French is a very intelligent man, and I'm glad he is mentally stable in his life and is wanting to do good.

During my first ten visits to London at age 16 onwards, I was shocked by the quality, intelligence, and wealth of the people seen there. They did not drink Camerons Strongarm, sit in pubs, visit betting shops, or live in South Bank, or Cannon Street Mbro, they certainly did not mix with the Lee Duffys of this world.
