Live Stream: Hollyland 400S Pro and Lark 150, ARRI Orbiter, Prolycht Orion, Aputure 600d, Fiilex Q5.

This is not a sponsored episode, but I did have the opportunity to try out some new gear from Hollyland which works well for my vlogging.

Well, we learned a few things: Ecamm Live Pro works pretty well, but I should not put mirroring on or else everything is backwards... duh! I initially put mirroring on because it made sense while looking in the teleprompter at the desk. Outside it was not helpful, especially when viewers wanted to read text on the 600d control box. The Hollyland products worked well, but there is some latency. Much of this is workable on a live stream like this, but it's good to know going in. More importantly, towards the end I was having trouble with the updated 600d's new fan modes. I had heard the Medium speed was working great for reduced fan noise, but the unit kept turning off. It turns out, I had updated the firmware without having the head connected. The control box and the head both have separate firmware! I had inadvertently only updated the control box, so the head didn't know it needed to spin up the fan and thus turned off when it crossed the heat threshold. After the stream, I did some troubleshooting and found my error. Now both 600d's are good to go. Live and learn.

Awesome info! I have a question about HMI bulbs. I have been taught and read conflicting information. Do you know which way the “nipple” goes on larger HMI bulbs? Specifically for Arri m40s or m90s

The nipple usually referred to the little protrusion on the globe part of a double sided HMI bulb. The nipple should face out towards the fresnel, if there’s a fresnel, away from the reflector. But I haven’t used double ended globed HMI’s in a very long time. As far as single ended globes in M40’s and 90’s I have heard different rules. Best is to go with the manufacturer’s recommendation and if that fails, I believe you are supposed to keep the extra metal side up. I don’t own M40’s or 90’s, so if anyone else would like to chime in, please do. We had one on a job recently that we had to lamp up. I think the globe box had a warning on it on how to position it... the memory escapes me at the moment🤪

hey friend, I'm sorry I missed your live stream. But I'm making up for it now, great live stream! Liked. Yes our Mars400S Pro will have a 0.08s latency, but the transmission will be stable and more suitable for small teams making movies/videos/live broadcasts. Are you using the lark 150 mic in the live stream, how is it working, hope it satisfies you.

When I went outside I switched from the Sennheiser AVX to the Lark 150. I had my audio in good range for the camera, but not necessarily the ATEM mini pro iso, so I need to do more work with that. I will compare the mics that come with the Lark 150 and the More expensive Sanken lavs. I love the small form factor and convenient charging box!

I’m not sure what you mean. Do you mean my blue powerpods? Those allowed me to hear the streaming audio, but my reply was to the wireless audio that was combined with the wireless video.
