    Yes! We used to live in cookeville tn. Nashville and cookeville got hit very hard in 2020. But what made cookeville so bad is that it was in the middle of the night and no one’s phones went off until right when it was hitting. They had no warning. People said their phones woke them up and before they even opened their eyes to see the notification their homes were being blown apart. People died that day, including babies and kids. My friend’s cousin and her whole family were killed. It was horrific. All this to say, unwarned tornadoes are very dangerous and I know Andy saved lives last night by bringing attention to those! Especially the unwarned one in Prospect tn. I saw it was a big one. Very thankful for the work everyone here did tonight

    Thank you for everything last night. I’m in TN and it’s devastating here near me. Thankfully my family is safe but some of my friends were direct hits. The daylight coming and seeing the damage the day after is always so somber. But everyone comes together here, it’s just what we do. People are all helping each other. People saved a child last night in my town who got swept up in a storm drain. People have been walking down streets with chainsaws cutting limbs and finding people who may need rescuing. Seeing us all come together makes things just a little more tolerable in a devastating time. Last night because of you and the storm chasers we were able to take cover when from the news alone it didn’t seem like we were in the path. But when I saw brad drive right by our road I knew otherwise 😂 Thank you. Can’t even express how grateful we are and how much we all appreciate you doing this and pushing through despite I’m sure extreme exhaustion and being sick. You guys saved hundreds of lives I know.

    I live in Downtown Huntsville, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for this coverage. Thankfully we were in the same boat at the hospital where it went over but didn't hit, but watching those radar signatures tear through my home and community was a feeling I haven't had since the Super Outbreak. Thankfully the outcome of this one is turning out to be magnitudes less devastating, but there's absolutely nothing like that completely helpless feeling waiting to see just how much your world might have just changed. You and your team are so beyond valuable for the lives you save, but beyond that, I can't stress enough the mental health aspect and fighting fear with preparedness. Having knowledgeable, unsensationalized, and empathetic reporting of what is happening when we can't see for ourselves makes the world of difference during that wait. I'm so beyond grateful that you and your team are here, and I hope ya'll never forget just how much good ya'll do for others.

    I felt that, especially telling them exactly where in the house to go and not needing to go all the way down to the basement because "I know it's hard for you guys to get down there". My parents are both 76 and my mom just had her first knee replacement back on 4/3. I had to think about where and how to shelter her when we had possible dangerous weather the week after her surgery, which was stressful in and of itself. They both look to me and my sister (who is a storm chaser with SkyWarn and Spotter Network) for their weather safety and that feels like a big enough responsibility without having entire swaths of the country looking toward me for their safety. I haven't gotten all the way through the VOD yet but I hope Andy's folks were okay. 😟

A good friend told me to watch him and he was the only one giving precise, up do date and accurate info on the tornado that touched down in Columbia Tennessee on May 8th. Our house took a direct hit and it was leveled.. we lost everything BUT because of him and only him we were able to get into our basement.. 15 people all survived because of him. Poor Ryan sounds like me with whatever flying pig COVID I've had the last fortnight. Awful, awful virus. I was in the worst of it when tornado sirens were honking. I was tempted to just lie in the bed and just go to OZ. I was so tired 😩. But I took a lawn chair and my duvet into the hall anyway. Everything was fine. Even tornadoes usually avoid Killeen, TX lol. Feel better, Ryan!

    ...[a friend] just called, there's major damage just over the hill... No power there & trees down. That is a message my mother sent to me this morning. She was in the path of one that Brad Arnold spotted. I was watching live from 100 miles away. Because of all of you, I knew to call her to ensure she was in her safe place. She wanted to go grab something, but I firmly but calmly said, "No." THANK YOU!!!

    Is it normal for so many tornadoes to be unwarned? It shocked me how poor our warning system is. Thank you for being on top of things for everyone.

  • @windlesstar103

    @windlesstar103

    Not it is not normal. The NWS (national weather service) was overloaded with issuing flood warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings to notice the sudden upticks in velocity on radar. It sucks that it happened and I bet the NWS learned a few lessons, but the U.S’s warning system is the best in the world by FAR. Go anywhere else in the world and it will be nowhere close to the U.S’s system. Plus, Andy is GREAT at spotting capable storms way ahead of time and has the ability to report it live without being busy issuing warnings. The NWS can’t issue a warning saying, “We think a tornado could happen within the next 30 minutes,” because most tornado warnings would then not have an actual tornado. This would consume many false warnings and citizens would not take shelter during tornado warnings thinking it’s a false warning. The only time the NWS issues tornado warning is when they are confident that the storm will produce a tornado within the next ~10 minutes or is already producing a tornado. The way I explained this may be hard to follow, but I hope this helped.

    I found your channel after all the chaos happened. Our phones went off, and we read the warning. Then... silence. We scrambled to get an update. I finally hit up Pittsburgh's feed. It said to take cover as the tornado was on the ground. We didn't know where. Looking outside, not many neighbors were up. We grabbed the dogs, our emergency kit, and took shelter in the basement near our ES gear. The rain was relentless, and our basement took on some water. I was finally able to get an update, and it said the tornado was east of us. Whew. I feel so bad for all those caught in that monster.
